The only time I ever see him leaving is if we have an SEC/B1G decision to make and choose the B1G (or he knows we’re going to), but who knows.

One of his best friends got fired there one year after winning the SEC and going to a Super. Doesn’t seem like the kind of thing he’d sign up for.

We should expect Forbes to be on a bunch of lists and get a lot of phone calls. It means he is winning a lot of games and winning them the right way. The challenge, and this likely applies to all of our coaches beyond football and men's basketball, is the level of financial/other support schools like South Carolina will put on the table. I am not overly worried but would expect this to continue to be a thing.

And hopefully Steve Newmark will continue to foster an environment where UNC supports a program-wide coaching staff that has very few peers nationally.

Exactly. Forbes will be No. 1 for a lot of SEC jobs given his record and the greater SEC resources. This is the cost of doing business in 2026. And it is a good problem to have.

Would he leave for schools like LSU or Miss St - where they live and breath college baseball with their ginormis stadiums?

Yep. You want coaches/players that other programs want. That means you’re successful.
