Bidunga held opponents to under 45% at the rim as the primary defender. That’s NBA‑level rim deterrence. Kentucky hasn’t had a big with that kind of defensive gravity since Anthony Davis.

He is going to be a load in the ACC!
He struggled to stop taller centers. But his mobility allowed him to switch onto guards and defend them well.

This year's UofL squad seems to be following the exact script of year 2 for Pope, trying to play a different style with overpriced players. He will have to play a different style, he has no 3 point shooters & we know his teams chuck them up.
The only difference is they have legitimate big men that can hold their own inside. They still have shooters.

big 12 doesnt play anyone taller than 6'8. and now he is moving to the 4th or 5th best conference. smart move by him really.

I thought that was a ridiculous statement given these (Arizona - Krivas, Cincinnati - Thiam, Houston - Cenac, Iowa St - Buchanon) but the rest of the conference really does have only 6'8/6'9 centers. Interesting point.

If I had to make a choice between having Malachi Moreno or Bidunga, I am easily taking Moreno over him.

Last year the overwhelming consensus of opinion was that at 22$ million, Pope vastly overpaid for the roster he ended up with, and was poorly constructed, in the end.

This year, 20 - 30 NCAA division 1 teams are spending 20$ million plus to construct their rosters. While it may be said all of the teams spending 20$ million+ will have a better constructed roster than what we had last year, there is the simple fact that spending money at the rate the NCAA teams are, it is an unsustainable way to do business.

Looking at dUKe, they have massively spent on the best roster possible, and they got a final four out of it, and made the elite eight last year .... but is paying 40$ million plus for the past 2 years worth that? I cannot for the life of me see how that is in any way "worth paying for" those kind of results with THAT MUCH money being thrown around.

And now you got Louisville paying 20$ million plus .... and I look at thaty roster and wonder .... is it worth paying that much for ? Unless they win a title - NO.

Meh, I’m an UK fan so that’s of no concern for me… BTW, anyone hear if there’s any new news on the Stokes recruiting front? Last I heard he was Pope’s to lose after posting live on Instagram, shooting half court shots inside of Rupp. 🙄
You hear we hired Mark Pope to be the HC?

That had streaky shooters last year. When the 3 didnt fall they tried to go inside but there was nobody there. I think Michigan, Arizona and U- Conn showed you have to have an inside game to if you wanted to have a shot in the tournament
Who do they really have on the inside, FB? Yeah, it's more than last year seemingly but is it really? He wasn't some instant bucket getter at Kansas. I just don't see their roster as something special compared to last year. Honestly, I can't wait till they come to Rupp.

If Louisville can get 13 points a game out of him plus what he brings in rebounding and defensively, they will be more than happy with him. The had a soft Fru last year and a 6-6 PF in Hadley. Conwell looks like their biggest loss right now.

They do have a 7-1 5 star Center that should be able to provide some help too.
Yeah I hate it, but on paper, they look tough. All around good job at filling the spots they wanted, and I think they’ll end up really good by season’s end. I have to say, we are probably a bad match up for them and beat the dog poo out of them this season! 🤣 Personally, I really like their coach. He has great energy, his players seem to love playing for him and I actually like their system he runs. I think they were a better team when Brown Jr was out and they played more team basketball. Still hope they lose every game they play from now on, but I do like the little guy. 😆

Louisville has some pieces but no star. No dude. In some respects it reminds me of our team last season. I think Kelsey bought a bunch of role players. Several of which have a history of injuries. We'll see.

They were not close to a better team with Brown out

I'll just say that ever since he said he was gonna be a bird, I'm glad Bidunga has become a bird!

I think Kelsey saw the writing on the wall and realized you need to have a top flight inside game to go deep in the tournament. Its hard to depend on hitting 3's 6 games in a row. I wouldn't say they were better with Brown out. When fully healthy he was one of the top point guards in the Country.

Yeah. I just thought the team seemed to play harder with him not in there jacking up so many shots. He’s a heck of a player tho. I think he tried too hard to impress the scouts more than being a great teammate. Maybe it’s because I saw a lot of that the past 15 years. lol. I’m definitely not saying he isn’t a great young player, it could also have been they knew they needed to step up without him to. I agree with the big guys , he done a fantastic overall job in my opinion getting their inside game in good shape. Big Frank is going to need to be rough and take care of business.

Well what do you know, we finally disagree with something. 😆. I just think they played more as a team and looked better. Played harder as well, probably because they knew they had a chance to actually get the ball a little more.

The big problem is they built the team around him and when he went out they were kind of lost with no true point guard.

Think what you want but none of that is even remotely accurate
