It pains me every time I read a recap of the 2025 season.

still searching the web for this stuff daily?

I follow Tengwell on social media. It just magically appears in my timeline and since some folks here are interested in these kinds of things, I share them. I think Sarkisian is right, but not because a coach got canned, got a buyout, and then got another high paying job coaching football. The players are going to kill this sport (coaches' salaries will help).

Granted I am taking his comments out of comments, but Franklin getting fired is what has him concerned about the health of the sport? The out of control NIL system isn't a problem?
So in this upcoming season, if Texas with a qb who may win the Heisman Trophy starts 3-3 and plays apathetic and disinterested football while doing so, does he think that his own job won't be in jeopardy? The coach about whom he speaks had over twelve seasons at the helm, which is a lifetime these days, and appeared to have quit on his job after the Oregon loss.

smart people know where they stand- CJF knew he wasn't in with Kraft and only winning it all was going to keep his job

the more admirable thing would have been to resign before the season started, but that would have been expecting a lot

Sark should ask Chris Del Conte what would happen to him if he went over Del Conte's head when Del Conte turned down his request for a raise. That's ultimately what got Big Game fired.

not only that, but was constantly reminded by the football "experts" that he couldn't win the "big" games. So he went from a "ridiculed" (probably not right word) to a really successful one...the day after he was fired.

A bunch on this board who need to click on the "show more" part and read that bottom part. It's not that we expect championships yearly, you can't do all the stuff he did to get what he wanted and then produce what he did.
Produced one of the top 10 winningest programs in the country….how dare he!

Sark is worried for himself. How much longer will Texas wait?
Probably not long. I don’t think that their fans were too thrilled with how the 2025 season was going until the OU game, and even after that game they didn’t exactly play dominant football. My guess is that his tenure at Texas won’t last as long as Franklin’s tenure at PSU did.

We do a pretty good job of that here daily. People weren't laughing at PSU when Franklin came here. They wanted to wipe out the program.

yep, sort of, I loved the hire and defended him for years but as an athletic administrator myself, he needed to go after his last month of work and it's funny how you guys defend him for it. He set the bar at 'elite' and he did not deliver

It's getting harder and harder to remember 1986.
Then think about 1994; PSU was deemed to be the NC by the NY Times, which PSU added to the back of the scoreboard in the south end zone before the south upper decks were added. Since it was a mythical NC back in 1994, PSU has every right to claim that as a NC season. Also, Paterno had rings given to that team that has the #1 on the face; I have a replica of that ring.
