Iowa wrestling standards should be national championships. Thats the whole reason its my favorite sport at Iowa. MSUs insistence that we are like other schools and should be happy to place is getting bizarre. Even if we did “peak” at Nationals, that’s just a horrible look for the current staffs ability to recruit and develop where that’s as good as we could’ve done. Feel like we’re just delaying the inevitable by keeping them around another year.
Totally agree. Complacency isn't a noble stance... it's like quietly surrendering. It shouldn't be accepted anywhere in the system (recruiting, development, retention, establishing viable career paths during & post collegiate wrestling, fund raising, etc etc).). The program is not operating at a championship level in any of those areas and will continue to fall behind the longer it it stays status quo.
Fans that have little to no impact on the team????? Many of us have spent tens of thousands of dollars supporting this team over the last 30 years and for you to come on here and say we have no impact is beyond disrespectful!! Without us funding, filling Carver and following this team around the country they wouldn’t be the Iowa Hawkeyes that we all have come to expect!!! Being from MSU I don’t think you understand the badge of honor that used to be and because of your thick headed nature I don’t believe you will ever understand.

I am looking forward to watching these guys compete in the the Big Ten. I don’t think they’ll be seeded as high at Nationals as they were at their previous schools.
Ech wrestled Vega twice and also wrestled Mendez. His schedule will be similar. VROB will probably be seeded higher than he was this year if he wrestles well at all. These two didn't come from small schools who don't face anybody. They are both very battle tested guys.
Judging people's ability to parent based on how they post on an anonymous message board? Especially when the trolling I do is so specifically advertised that people with a modicum of intelligence should be able to navigate through with ease. But, as soft as you are, I am not surprised. Every comment is a driveby, ad hominen or deflection.
It is VERY sad that this sport is so fringe that YOU actually have the level of influence you have. Very sad...
Asked and answered. On the old thematforums I was fairly specific. On here I have even told a few experiences. My anonymity isn't all that heavily veiled. I won a lot of matches and have lost quite a few as well. Not that it should matter all that much. I have never argued from a stance of perfect wrestling. In fact, I seem to value a garden variety AA on here so much more than most and even LOVE the grinders that fight to be top 15 with a hope to get on the podium.
I wasn't flashy. I tried to hold the best position possible and worked very hard to be able to get out from underneath against anyone. Most of you guys would have probably hated to watch me wrestle...
Why are you trying to be relevant on this board. You and your District are not even relevant in PA High School wrestling. Your most relevant wrestlers were Jim Martin and John Hughes and that was many many moons ago.

Do you have kids? There are certain things you don’t joke about. I would NEVER say what you did to another parent unless I actually witnessed something that deserved it.

As a result I expect those that are PSU trolls on here, whine about Iowa and Brands as if they suck and generally “soft” people to come at me like they do. I don’t consider it a “me” problem. To be fair, I have actually had decent discourse with PSU fans that can be level headed and aren’t here just to play superior. As far as the rest goes it is simply the 4th place sucks and we are Iowa mentality so we should automatically be better than that.
