This person just made a big mistake for his political career. The decision will be challenged in court i am guessing.
Wut? How could this decision by a legislative leader potentially be challenged in the courts? What's actionable here?
Duh......scotus just declared racially designed districts unconstitutional so if SC leaves it in place they are vulnerable to lawsuit.
Duh, they did not rule any such thing dumb bell. They ruled that partisan political gerrymandering is a permissable exception to the Voting Rights Act prohibition on racial discrimination in gerrymandering.

The legislature could redraw maps during the regular session next January and still have everything in place for 2028.

A political stunt designed to create headlines and give Kemp credit for “taking action” on redistricting after weeks of resistance and delay.
If this were truly an emergency, why wait until maps that won’t even take effect until 2028?
Georgia has had ZERO Republican U.S. Senators since
January 2021, over 5 years of no representation, because
RINOs in Georgia helped hand both Senate seats to
Democrats in the 2021 runoffs .RINO infighting, weak support, and sabotage after 2020 killed GOP turnout and flipped the seats.
Georgia is a RED state. It's time to rectify this.

It doesn't help that Georgia was influenced heavily by election fraud in 2020
Here's the latest COOK POLITICAL REPORT (Left-Leaning), which now shows the GOP floor in the House at 210. But this doesn't include AL, LA, and SC's redrawing of Congressional districts. This will bring the GOP floor up to 213, with 218 needed for control of the House.
With 18 toss-ups, the GOP needs to win five of these races to keep control of the House.
This is in the wake of the Supreme Court declaring race-based (racist) drawing of Congressional districts unconstitutional.
But it gets better for 2028, when the GOP should add MS, UT, NE, NH, and +2 from GA, which brings the GOP floor up 219. TX and FL can also add more GOP seats than what they're doing now.
But there's more . . .
A report by THE AMERICAN SPECTATOR reveals that 122 out of the 212 Dem seats are drawn using racial criteria.
Every black majority district is held by a Dem. Most Hispanic majority districts are held by a Dem. All these districts will have to be redrawn to comply with the Supreme Court's Callais ruling.
But there's more . . .
President Trump has so far deported about 3.5 Million illegal migrants, or they self-deported under pressure from Trump.
Make no mistake, illegal migrants are voting in America's elections, which is why Dems strongly oppose requiring U.S. citizenship to vote, requiring a valid photo ID to vote, support the mass Vote by Mail, support "ballot harvesting."
President Trump will continue removing millions of illegal migrants from the USA.
But there's more . . .
** President Trump has ended taxpayer-funding of Democrat-aligned non-profits (NGOs) and their Democrat voter registration and turnout operations.
** He has ended the kickbacks Democrats have been getting from the Ukraine War.
** Trump is prosecuting and cleaning up Somali and other Democrat welfare fraud (which Treasury estimates to be $500 Billion) -- a portion of which was being kicked back to Democrat politicians in the form of campaign contributions. This is further draining billions of dollars from Dem political operations.
** Dem billionaire megafunders like George and Alex Soros and Reid Hoffman are worried about criminal prosecution, so are cutting back their activities. A well-sourced report by the Capitol Research Center documents that non-profits funded by George and Alex Soros have been funding terrorism on U.S. soil. Hoffman was funding much of the LAWFARE against Trump.
All this is why Democrats are out of money. The Democrat National Committee is $17 MILLION in debt while the Republican National Committee has $117 MILLION cash on hand with zero debt.
But there's more . . .
** A new Census will be conducted in 2030. If Republicans hold the Presidency, non-citizens will no longer be counted for the purpose of reapportioning Congressional districts and Electoral votes. So Dems are likely to lose 20-30 seats in Congress and about the same number of Electoral votes from this alone.
** Also, the population is fleeing high-tax, high-crime Dem-run states for Republican low-tax states like Texas, Florida, Tennessee. Republican states will gain Congressional seats and Electoral votes because of this migration to Republican states.
In other words, the Democrat Party is in a structural death spiral. The only way Dems can stop this death spiral is to win the Presidency in 2028 and reopen the border to create more Dem voters.
good article in the WSJ today..may 16...their analysis indicates that there are 210 "safe: or leaning districts for republicans in the house and 207 for democrats. That seems to mean that control of the house will come down to 18 seats...
Iran was unforeseen at that time. Trump will have it all back in a good place by the fall.
Of course it was unforeseen as it was told to us numpties that their nuclear program had been obliterated in June of that year.
I'm not a lawyer, but my supposition would revolve around the supreme court decision on racial/black districts. If the SC district in question was set up as racially set, someone could use to have that district reset...That's just a guess...and I'm not sure a suit would prevail given this close to an election....
