I don't believe Moreno is going anywhere. He loves UK. He really likes Pope. He would never do have accepted a hometown deal otherwise, he would have gone into the portal. He is where it was always thought he would be, late first. I think if he comes back, we will be better than last season day one.
The wildcard is Momcilovic. He is a mid second round guy...which is likely exactly where he will be next season...so making a huge payday in college makes a lot of sense for him IMO. Being a second rounder means not only may there not be a second contract, you might be topped out in the G league. I think he will play in college, and it will likely be the highest bidder of UK and UL. If he joins Moreno here, we will have an outstanding team. If we get neither, it will be a struggle

Malachi Moreno Meets With Four More NBA Teams After Knicks Workout...

This is just like reading the script from a movie you've seen before. Don't think for a second that Pope and the Pope huggers won't try to use Moreno as an excuse after the upcoming season implodes......just as Pope used injuries as the excuse for this past season's failures....
More dumb stuff

Sane reasoning usually gets punished around here.... lol

I must be insane to agree, and honestly, if all people can do is sit around this spring and summer with your panties up in a wad constantly over the state of this situation, I suggest taking at least a day off and goto the beach ( where I just came from here at the dam ) and just let these young men have some space and do what they are doing.

It's absolutely normal and common for guys to do what Moreno has (very wisely) done this year, to get to go thru the process and get at least an understanding of how it works.

I suspect he's set and locked in to come back, but is trying to simply maximize his opportunity here with the draft.

Sure, as fans this is what we do, is pay attention to it, and sure, we would all love to see Moreno and Mom to head up the frontcourt next year. But thread after useless thread beating the dead horse ....

geez.

I just hope the process is good for the young men and that in the end, Moreno comes back with a clear mindset on where to improve his game, he's gonna be a dandy for us. *I say let's be quietly confident* about Moreno.

as for Mom, I've hoped we could get him pretty much as soon as the season ended, and definitely once he hit the portal.

Let them have some space, some positive support ( and of course, to come back !) give up the vast bulk of the last of the money to Milan, and let's boogie.

Agreed. How else could Pope have handled the Moreno situation he is getting killed over? If he brings in another center and then Moreno leaves, Pope would have got blamed as the reason he left. Pope needs these two kids to have a contender IMO, I will wait till the roster is complete before I jump off a cliff

You probably thought Chandler was not leaving for BYU.
To clarify, I don’t think Moreno is coming back and if I was him, there is no way in hell, I’d come back to play for pope. Based on your other post, you are making this response to people who think Moreno is returning. My watch and see, is about the pumpers, who will make excuses and throw MM under the bus and nothing is popes fault. He doesn’t need to accept any accountability. I don’t think pope could retain Layla pope if she was a player. She didn’t move to Kentucky with the family for a reason.

“Nothing is Pope’s fault” 🤣

What is wrong with some of you guys? What is there, maybe three people on this board like that.

I’m not saying he doesn’t have a lot of talent. That wasn’t my point at all. If he looks “thinner” now than he did at the end of the season, then that’s a major problem. He needs to add bulk, not get thinner. That would be like Manute Bol losing weight.
It’s his combine measurements that have sparked a lot of interest. He’s 6’11 1/2 barefoot and 245 lbs.

If Moreno was against playing for Pope then why did he refrain from entering the portal and open up the option of escaping the hated Pope for more money than he is likely to see from the NBA or Kentucky?

I never said once, Moreno was against playing for pope. I said IF I WAS HIM. I was not insinuating Moreno and I have the same mind set. I don’t think he’s coming back because of feedback received, nothing to do with pope. And my comment about Layla was a response to him thinking we would retain Colin.

If MM stays in the draft that should be the last nail in the coffin for Mr. Pope. He can kick and stomp around with the injured players and others leaving or turning professional excuses, but that proves he is not the chosen one and will be let go before the season is over.
How is that the coach’s fault. He developed a raw freshman center who was slated to be the #3 center into an nba draft pick? Damn .. Pope did too good a job with Malachi.

If the Washington center is injury free this year I like him better than Moreno. I'm sure I'm alone on that. He looks like a scary dude that don't mind being mean on the court. Moreno is a little to passive for me. Easy going.

I’m not going to sit around and worry about some 19 year old basketball player deciding if he wants to be here next season. It’s not like he set the world on fire last season. I lost track of the number of times he didn’t block out or had the ball ripped away from him. Whether he stays or leaves, if he doesn’t get a thousand times stronger, he’s not going to be anything more than a role player.
Nothing has made any sense this offseason.

Not much anyway. I guess Pope has a ton of money left and could still entice a couple of studs to back out of the Draft and come here, but, I’ll believe it when it actually happens.

Why would that be unreal to you? Where were you when Calipari went 9-16 with a roster full of 5 stars?
Bitching like you were...But at least with Cal, we had 5 stars...not saying he did anything with them but at least there was a glimmer of hope

Who cares? No individual poster decides the fate of the coach either way. There’s like two people left who still believe fully in Pope. Just let them be. Personally, I’m absolutely miserable having no hope about the future with the coach. Why would I want others to be miserable like me? Too many of us care what someone else thinks about this topic. Again, doesn’t matter.
It’s very ******* depressing.
