Also, it is important to note that we did not flee from a person. It's more like one person called in a bomb threat and shut the building down for everyone else. In terms of the ignore function I think all you have to do is ignore the original poster of a thread and you won't see it at all.

For you, it's important to note ... for this board, it's not important at all. Aliens could have abducted you and dropped you here. You could be Russian spies sent to infiltrate the innerworkings of 'Murica. You could have run away. You could have walked in an orderly fashion. You could have been pushed out. Or whatever else we can dream up ... the salient point is that you're here, and your postings here affect this board, good and bad ... and you may have brought a bed bug with you.

I'm not aware of whether or not a thread started by an ignored individual is not visible to the ignorer, but I do know that posts by ignored individuals are visible - the contents within are just not shown (you still see that someone you're ignoring posted). But if it's true that threads aren't visible if started by an ignored user, I'd basically be looking at a blank screen at this point (if there's a blank graphical placeholder for the thread), or threads from days/weeks ago that are no longer relevant ... plus I'd miss out on any contributions by folks I'm not ignoring.

I don't think the solution is "just ignore us" ... again, you generally seem like reasonable, fun people, as individuals. It's just the overall phenomenon I referenced earlier. Just take the constructive criticism.

I guess my attitude is that having to use the scroll wheel on one's mouse to skip over blank threads is a first-world problem. But it is your first-world problem, which I appreciate.

I guess my attitude is that having to pay a few bucks a month to stay where you've been for quite some time (or otherwise not handling the situation before it got to the point where your board became pay-only) is a first-world problem. But it is your first-world problem, which I appreciate. But now it's moved over here.

I was a paying member for a very long long time but the transfer portal and all of the news being available immediately on twitter killed my appetite for "insider" information on recruiting and such. It led me to not update my credit card information when it expired. I merrily carried on with the free MBB, WBB, FB, and OT boards until yesterday. With that being said, I might re-up if the situation doesn't resolve. As for handling the situation prior to yesterday, how would you suggest we should have stopped a psycho, who we don't know in real life and frankly who was already on the ignore list of most posters, from stalking and cyber attacking the site owner? In any event, take heart this is all very likely temporary and this place will return to tumbleweeds blowing through a ghost town.

The poll obviously wasn't meant for me, but my prediction is that it won't work out well for the folks that were here pre-migration.

The prevailing story is that one right-wing troll caused all of this, but that is only the headline. HORT was not a safe space for anybody who doesn't align with BlueSky groupthink.

In the near future, the lefties of HORT will identify the existing righties of Tiger Illustrated and proceed to mock them endlessly, We'll see how it plays out after that, but most people willing to argue with them eventually just give up, which is understandable as the majority of their positions aren't really defensible.

I'm sure that's what they told the people in minneapolis when they initially resettled somalis there in the early 1990s.

I will say I enjoyed coming to this board when I was having a bad day and and needed to be entertained or I thought maybe I was a little off but then I would read what the resident echo chamber conspiracy theory MAGA diehards posted (usually X posts from randoms living in a basement) and I would think to myself "coldbud1994, you're doing alright, buddy."

I hope those guys don't get scared away. I like the entertainment

I'm a non-Clemson "interloper" myself, and while I share your general outlook, politically, and find it tiresome battling the MAGAt trolls on this board (so reinforcements are welcome, in some respects) ... there has been a definite "locust" vibe to it all, so far.

I mean, typically a "new guy" comes in, tries to feel out the landscape, introduces himself slowly and then eases into integrating into the board fabric.

Instead, this has been more of a situation where you invite one guy to the party, he rings the doorbell, and he says "I hope you don't mind, I brought some friends," and a hundred of his biker outlaw friends come crashing through and take over everything, eating all the food, drinking all the beer, hitting on the women, destroying mom's fine china ... like an 80's style teen movie.

It doesn't help that the narrative is that you guys come from drama and a recently destroyed board ... and that, in all likelihood, whatever problems were caused there are likely to pop their heads up here. If you go to a hotel, and it's overrun with bed bugs, and you all run out screaming to a neighboring hotel ... chances are, some bed bugs hitched a ride and are now going to take over that hotel, too.
Yeah, but we usually bring beer with us, so there is that.

speaking for Ned, he might be the most reasonable poster on this board. In fact there's no other posters as "on point", probably has never been a better poster, and likely will never be a better poster in history of the board.

Don't pay any attention to this rastafarian guy...he's totally hung up on Epstein

Don't want to overstate my military service. After being commissioned through ROTC, I served for 4 years as a weapons system analyst in the USAF's material command. After that, I went back for round 2 for a professional degree. Proud of my time in the USAF and it was a great opportunity for me and my wife starting out together getting married during the summer between graduation and moving to Boston. Politically I am an independent who has voted for mostly democrats in presidential elections, given the choices, but often times republicans locally or for congressional seats. I just try to vote for the person who aligns most with most of my ideas. Since 2016, that has been decidedly NOT trump. Anyone but trump and his lickspittles, really.
you call them lickspittles, but a lot of people, me included, just couldn't pull a lever for Harris. Still can't see her as president.

Trump is a bombastic, narcissist, who seems to revel in chaos...we saw that in his first term, and yet the majority of voters, many of whom are blue collar workers, Hispanics, people of color, voted for him. He ran on a platform that appealed to more voters, in spite of the fact that he was "thrown out" of office after just 1 term. So you don't like Trump, lots of people don't and for sure his administrations have divided the country. But maybe, just maybe, given all that democrats should take an introspective look at their candidates and policies as opposed to being just anti trump.

I’m not a Democrat. I simply care about our country and its future. But oh my god, Kamala cackled and wore pant suits so voting for her rather than trump was a no go. Pathetic. As a retired vet, what do you think of what he’s done with NATO and Ukraine? To me it is despicable and short sighted. Ukraine is going to be the best possible ally going forward with their drone technology (offensive and defensive) forged in the crucible of war. Yet, he tried to hang them out to dry. Unsuccessfully thank god. For nato, we need those bases and to be able to fly combat missions out of them that we want to. Just this week Saudi Arabia didn’t like what we were doing and made us stop flying combat missions out of their air space, so it’s a real thing. Out tried and true strategy has been its better to have strong friends than weak enemies, and he is tragically taking us off this path.

I have a feeling you're right. I'm one of the migrants from Blue white illustrated a year or so ago....middle of the road, conservative. And I've already seen a decided turn to the left from the new guys, mainly anti trump - racist, rapist, killer - mostly posted from feeling rather than fact with a decided unwillingness to accept any concept that not everybody agrees with their position. Their facts are the only ones that matter and anybody with an alternative point of view is, by definition, evil.

I guess it must be a generational thing. When I was in college we were taught to get as much information as possible and analyze all points of view. These days seems as if there's only one point of view.

I've also noticed what seems like decided group think. One person posts in and everyone of the "migrants' seems to accept it.

We haven't gotten to the mocking yet, but I assume that will come (maybe right after I hit "post reply")

Then we can all surely agree that Trump is in fact a sexual predator, yes?

There are probably 50 of us here. One post getting 5 likes is hardly group think. What is group think are the magats worshipping trump and the MSNBC crowd in the other direction. For a self-proclaimed analytical middle of the road guy, you jump to a lot of conclusions.
