Mods @GregPickel @Tom McAndrew - I'm creating this thread in the hopes that it will be used for Off Topic posts and discussions. We had a similar dedicated thread established on Rivals that became an effective means for off topic discussions to continue without derailing the Wrestling threads. The mod would simply move any lengthier off topic discussions to the Off Topic thread. For those on either side of the coin that wished to read or continue their conversations without interruption, they could.

As a current example, many of the recent posts in the Social Media thread have absolutely nothing to do with social media, let alone wrestling. For some users, it can be frustrating clicking on a thread that indicates unread posts believing that you'll see wrestling related content relevant to that thread topic, only to be subjected to ongoing off topic posts.

Thanks!

It could work -- we'll give it a try.

FWIW, I have been frustrated by the number of non-wrestling threads, and the posts within threads that go way off topic. But it's a tough line between stay on target/nothing but wrestling and people responding to posts and/or just extending conversations where they hang out.

I'll give this thread a try, and will move things here if I feel it's warranted.

Okay...I'll start. Anybody have any experience with induction cooktops?
Yes. I bought one portable burner to try. I used full range tops before in AirBnBs. Use it as auxiliary at home and intend to use camping with electricity.

Probably would get one in a new construction. Obviously, you have to use certain pans.

They allow a much finer temperature control. They are easily cleaned. They seem safer for children.

Have to match AC requirements to your use. Most full range tops are dedicated 220V. A stand alone burner can be that or 120V.

It's all good. There is absolutely nothing wrong with what you guys are doing. Most of what makes this forum fun is the interacting and having discussions with other fans about various topics. Sometimes those discussions go astray, and that's OK. It just takes some additional work on the mods to bring the thread back on topic by moving out the posts that are off topic into their own thread so those discussions can continue elsewhere. If the mods need any assistance with this, I'd be happy to help. I come here many times throughout the day to read the wrestling news, rumors and discussions, not just about PSU, but have stopped reading the SM thread since this morning due to the overwhelming OT posts. I do realize that I may be missing out on some wrestling and SM related content in doing so however.

I too have stopped reading the social media thread now that it’s evolved into a discussion of the morality/immorality of hunting.

Thanks. In the process of remodeling my kitchen and can go with gas or induction. I have some respiratory issues so am really thinking induction might do the trick. I'm considering trying under-counter induction, which would work with the porcelain on my island and would give me much more counter space to utilize (plus, it's really cool!) After some research, it is not as pricey as I'd imagined.

I think prices have come down. I say go for it.

Not to get into politics, but that whole ban on indoor gas in consideration of health or fire concerns (which might coincidentally lower claims to insurance companies) was a hot topic for a minute.

I have a gas dryer (propane tank) that has a dedicated 220v circuit for an electric. My range is also propane. Someday I may bite the bullet and switch to induction, since the two share a wall.

It's the switchover of the cookware that will be a bigger cost, I think. Right now I can only use cast iron on my induction burner (of the cookware I own).

I'd say yes, but it's hard to keep up. He's two iterations of generational lingo behind.

"Cringe" is of the Millenials. Now among many choices is the term, "Ohio" (Gen Alpha). And it was "cheugy" (Gen Z) in between.
Yeah, but did you know any of what you wrote already, or did you have to look it up? 😀

Yeah...I was close to going with gas, but I switched to induction after learning how fast, efficient and precise they are (plus the health stuff). I understand that the cookware limitations are a PITA, but I weighed that along with the props induction gets with many professional chefs.

I take responsibility lol
I will say, I always sorta thought the social media thread was essentially an off topic thread itself. I'll avoid lengthy back and forth on it in the future.

The social media thread literally has "eats away at the fabric of society" in the title. It is an off topic thread already. The hunting debate will pass soon (unless msu joins in). This thread is redundant.

How about Tom Green, a 60 year old guy w/ Stage 4 kidney cancer (including heart and bone infiltration) beating it with a clinical trial and getting ready to be the oldest (he'll turn 61 over the summer) college football player (D3) ever. And no, he's not planning out for a ceremonial field goal or something like that. He's planning on being a 6-1 245 lb defensive tackle. Still benches the big 6 (315).

What's an induction cooktop?
It's an electric cooktop that uses magnets to heat only the cookware, not the cooktop itself. It is VERY fast (much faster than gas) and very precise with temperature control vs regular electric (which takes a long time to heat up and cool down). Induction is immediate and very accurate. Downside is it requires magnetic pots and pans....basically, if a magnet sticks to the bottom of your pan, it will work...otherwise, it won't.

What I'm considering is an under counter induction cooktop that doesn't require a cutout of the stone (allowing much more island space.) Once you cook on it, you can immediately eat on the same spot, since the counter doesn't get hot, only the cookware. There is some residual heat from the pan, but it won't burn you and cools very quickly.

On occasion, I still use the outdated slang Cray Cray for crazy because it has become part of the husband/wife secret language. We use it to laugh about the stupid crap younger people say and do. It always brings a knowing smile to my wife's face.
