We need to get him if not Momlovisic.
McNeil is a 6'5 G who made nearly 43% of his 3's last year. And like Momlovisic he attempted a lot (7.1/g), 75% of his shots were from 3. You play Diallo, Wilkins, & him each 25-30mpg, including 5-10 with all 3 out there. The other 2 can penetrate, setting him up for open looks outside.

I like what you have posted. It makes good sense to me, especially the playing time.
I'd love to see us get Momci or McNeil, along with a good rebounder and a back-up Center.

Here is a look at McNeil. I love his very low TO rate ...

This board is the same three posts:

1) Crapping all over Pope
2) Some desperate post for the next must get recruit
3) Someone feeling bad for Pope
1) Pope has earned the backlash after claiming that he had a Ferrari then completely botching the entire season, including a 35 beatdown against Gonzaga where his team just quit
2) Pope has had a terrible portal/recruiting season where he whiffed on 14 top recruits that visited campus, flew 15-16 hours to a war zone for a 23 year old Brazilian that posted a mighty -14 +/-, and somehow made the Stokes situation worse with nuclear fallout level PR. Desperate is the right word.
3) *I* feel bad for Pope. He’s a nice guy. He was captain on a beloved team. We all wanted it to work, all of us. It’s his dream job, and he absolutely does not want to fail. But he is not that guy, and this next year is just a formality, a waste of a season.

Well, you have only been here a month. I'll agree.. the last month has sucked, but stick around for a while and there will be some good times as well.

I've been on here for over 23 years and there have been lots of good times communicating with other fans. Right now is just a bad time.

My guess is that 99% of the people joining since March won't be here for the good times. They didn't come here for that.

And you made a post about all three. Congrats
If ever needing a mod - it's the definition of insanity. There are times I cannot stand our own fanbase. KU has a thread call Rupp Meltdown. You go look at other program boards and nothing looks like this place. It's embarrassing.

4) Crapping all over Pope. Only because it happens more here than the other two.

So BookofMoron, what is the purpose of a basketball message board if not to discuss the team and how to make it better?

Although I agree #1 & #3 are pointless unless you are at a point in the season (March) when it's time to look for a new coach.

McNeil has already been brought up 10x. We all know.

It's pretty much understood with the misses, you go the portal list and pick the next highest guy left.

So the panic stating the obvious for the multiple time is chaos.

Top talent doesn’t want or need to play for Pope!

Have you not noticed that Pope has signed ZERO star players going on 12 years now, with 3 of those using UK’s brand recognition?

It’s over, let’s all just stop with the pretend and make believe nonsense please.

I go running with several connected NC State fans each morning. They claim McNeil told State they could have him for $4M and State wants to pay him $2.1M
So, Pope will offer him a cool $5.5M and get it done. After all, we have all that cash lying around that was earmarked for Stokes.

IMO, I think that is an absurd amount for McNeil, but LSU has one player and I guess, lots of money. And being one of the last transfers to make a decision gets you an automatic bump in offers, but 5 million is crazy.
I'm surprised that Will Wade didn't bring him straight to LSU, I know the portal hadn't opened then, but get an agreement from him before it did open. Sounds like McNeil auctioned himself off to the highest bidder.

the NC State SG supposedly already is a no go for us as he's not interested. and any other star player will tell Pope no too. recruiting players talking about the legacy of UK and come here to play for the cloth or whateve will turn off stars because stars have egos and will want it to be about them while in recruitment phase. Pope wont have a chance to change it but the correct way to recruit is whatever the players want to hear to get them here, then while here then preach the program and get them to buy into it all.

Give him 8mm. Why not? Stategic spending. Dump the truck on him. Make everyone else in the locker room look at him like this is the 8mm guy? That's the way to build team. RME with this place.

McNeil simply is doing what his coach did. Maximize salary with a move. Also probably shows us that Wade may not be overly liked by his players, but this is probably ALL a money situation.

It has to be agents that are spouting off about Pope, it’s not a coincidence that he can’t get high school or good portal players.
The high school recruiting for him is a waste of time at this point… is he that strange or maybe controlling to the point that agents are worried about their clients. There is definitely something odd about all of this.

Momcilovic is a significant scoring threat in the post. This dude is a pure guard. We need them both. If we could get him and only him he would certainly be a nice consolation prize for missing on Momcilovic. But we definitely don't need this dude -instead- of Momcilovic.

Crazy that schools have that kind of cash left. I guess LSU needs guys but still he’s lucky the market hasn’t dried up yet.
