Stokes can still be a lifelong KY Fan - but play for Oregon.
The tattoo & Ky hints are great & he truly fits with the current Cats roster , but we need another brute or tall 4 to make him happy.

If I had a choice and could only choose one, of Mark Pope being replaced by Billy Donovan today, or Tyran Stokes ending his recruitment today, regardless of his choice, I might have to go with Stokes, that’s how done and finished I am with this ***show!

Why didn't you list Meeks and Partterson?

But wait, all the sudden, 2026/26 UK had good talent?

My, my, my, how fast the narrative changes when it can be used against Pope the other way. You guys are great.
First of all, never said anything about Pope or this years roster so chill out dude.
Secondly, those are 2 very good players. The rest of the roster was trash. Including freshman Miller and Liggins. They ended up being great players but just go back and watch a game from that season man, they weren't there yet. Same for Jorts. Remember Cal benched Miller for Dodson and Jorts was an after thought until Kanter was ruled ineligible.

To bring Pope into this, I'd take Pope's first year roster over either of BCGs every day without question. Way more of a complete roster.

And there is no agenda here so stop with all of that stuff. Stop talking in absolutes man, its frustrating and annoying.

So if he was waiting to see what rosters would look like, and we have added a 3 star and no one else since then, if he is deciding soon it clearly isn't us.
He wants to be the star & that’s a position that Ky has open ! I found the “job“ for 10 monthes comment very telling. He’s more interested in his Draft status than winning a banner this year. A banner would be nice but ? Will Pope let him run the team in a KOBE or LeBron sort of scenario- I believe MP would to save his job.

I am out on Pope and want him gone, but anyone that says he’s worse than Billy G is a moron or just a prisoner of the moment.

Set aside the absolutely insane behavior he displayed (which make Pope’s utterly bizarre suicide comment seem tame), Billy G won no tournament games and barely scraped by the one tournament appearance he did manage. He suffered terrible home losses to Gardner Webb and VMI among other embarrassing losses.

This wasn’t for a lack of talent. He never had a stacked roster but the cupboard was not bare. He coached: Ramel Bradley, Joe Crawford, Darius Miller, Patrick Patterson, Deandre Liggins, Josh Harrelson, and Jodie Meeks. He also had several role players that weren’t bad like Ramon Harris, Perry Stevenson, etc.

Pope’s first year was beyond anything Billy G could have dreamed of here. We can talk about how bad UK basketball is right now without making wild claims like Billy G > Pope.

Chill out? I'm laughing.

Those two "very good players", were better than anyone we had this year. Again, the narrative all year was that our guys sucked, now, all the sudden, they are great, because it fits your arguement.

Of course, but tomorrow, you'll be clowning the roster you just complimented. Again, there is nobody at Meeks, or PP's level.
And there is no agenda here so stop with all of that stuff. Stop talking in absolutes man, its frustrating and annoying.
You know what's frustrating and annoying? The negativity all over this board and the mental gymnastics you jokers use to crap over Pope daily.

I'd put OO in the same category as PPat at the college level. I would agree that senior Meeks was better than anyone that Pope has coached.
My argument was simply that saying there is no debate to be had when comparing talent was silly. BCG did not have a stable of top tier talent. That was my only argument.
I've never clowned our roster and I've certainly never clowned Pope's first roster. Love that squad and I'd take an Amari, Lamont, Jaxson, Brea or OO on any team period. Idk who you are mistaking me with but you've got the wrong number bud

He's not winning a banner at Oregon, Kansas and sure as hell not UK so I think for the brand need you have to take him if he's willing to commit even with that attitude.

Not trying to be "that guy," but I noticed he only has two videos on his TikTok: 1) An advertisement/commercial. 2) Dancing with friends and/or family, decked out in Kentucky gear on one of his visits. Or maybe it's because I don't have an account so that's all it shows? I only looked it up because people were saying he streamed with Kentucky fans last night. I don't know much about TikTok, so you tell me. 🤣🤣🤣

I’d bet dollars to donuts we’re seeing the same sub patterns next season regardless of roster. Of all the things that surprised me about MP it’s his stubbornness.
Agree completely. And supposedly being an analytical guy. Circumstances change. Data changes.

LOL, Pope is 6'10" and you think BCG would do anything physically to him? Hilarious.

The proof is right there for you to look at. Billy had more talent both years, not debatable. He played much weaker schedules both years, not debatable, he lost the same amount of games, he lost at home to VMI, Gardner Webb and UAB. He lost to Vandy by 41 and Vandy didn't make the tournament, BCG also doesn't have a single win that would make it into Pope's top 10.

You literally have nothing to back up your claim.
Yeah man, Pope isn't Mike Tyson but he would beat the dog**** out of BCG...or Cal...or Rick lol

No, what's weird is, you flexed, then said you were just joking.

It's all good man.
I have never flexed on the internet in my life. It is all good lol. There's no flexing when Billy G and Pope is the subject.

If diarrhea and vomit are in the post do you think somebody is flexing. I said diarrhea vs having to vomit. Where's the flex?

I think a lot of posters forget how bad the Tubby years were at times. Rondo was trashed on this board by those who supported Tubby. I posted a Danny Ainge quote in which DA said that Rondo would be a better pro than college player MANY on this board went nuts.

Rondo and several other players were not happy especially when Tubby took away their starting position in favor of those who did better in practice. I recall Rondo just "quitting" and seemingly looking for an exit ASAP.

I remember it well. I was a “TSF” until the Kansas game of the 2006 season where they beat us by almost 30 in Lawrence. I rode the fence for a bit and joined the “LOD” in 2007 after we failed to score a single point for the first 12 minutes of a game at Alabama. I have since softened on Tubby and have always thought he was a great human being.

This place was a war in those days. I was here under a different account since 2003. I remember your posts well. The Pope era is child’s play in comparison to 2006 and 2007.

Last year’s team reminded me of those last two Tubby teams. And if last year was 2006 and this year ends up being 2007, we’ll
have a new coach exactly 20 years later. History rarely repeats itself, but it often rhymes.

I hate this, because, again, I'm going to come off like I'm a Mark Pope fan, but any coach that does what Pope did in year 1, through injuries, against the #3 SOS with no roster, or coaches deep into April, is most certainly not vomit, or sh*t.

He may not be UK caliber, but he's not vomit. BCG was vomit, Pope isn't even a wet fart.

I'll give him credit I think he did a decent job his first year. Injuries and everything considered. I also think he got extremely lucky being able to put together the oldest team in NCAA history with the fifth year seniors. But I do think he did a good job.

I also never felt confident about winning a single game that year. Somehow they won many big games. Lost a lot also in blowout fashion. But I'll give Pope credit it was a decent season.

After that it's been a nosedive on all fronts. Any of that pep rally energy they were using to begin his tenure is over

The sad part is, what you said was true and honest, but expect the garage of Pope Pumper and Pope Slurper, because unless you hope the dude is burned at the stake, thats what you must be

Maybe it is a faulty memory but I don't recall the attacks being as personal against Tubby as they are against Pope. Most of the LOD in those days did consider Tubby to be a decent person. As for me, I fell off the Tubby bandwagon during the first team turmoil, then I jumped back on when it appeared that things were turning around and then fell off again some time after the E8 loss to Michigan St. Tubby was one of the few coaches at UK I would have enjoyed having dinner with.

A nosedive on all fronts doesn't usually end up in the NCAAT. Heck, we were a 7 seed, it's not like we were in one of the play-in games.
A nosedive, is 2013, 2021 and 2009.

Let me ask you. When a coach loses a team, what are the odds that he can get it back? Pope lost this team early in the season. They clearly didn't like each other. Pope still got them to the tournament, I don't think that was an easy thing to do.

But it's weird, you're saying Pope nose dived, but we have dudes in here defending BCG, all because they hate Pope. Crazy.

If I'm ever defending BCG it's as a joke like I was stating. Obviously he was bad. I think Popes bad also but he's not a drunk so there's always a chance he figures it out.

My biggest thing with Pope is the way he is. The calm never showing passion. Talking like he's coaching women. These are grown men. Just get some fire and I actually think Pope will do better. Just has to quit being completely dorky all the time. Connect with the players in some kind of way off the court.

WTF is "connect" supposed to mean? These are practically grown men. Pope doesn't need to and shouldn't be their friend. He's there to lead, not be a husband in marriage counseling.

"Awww! I just really don't feel like we are connecting with the coach."

People go play for Pitino because, after a hard day, you know he's gonna put on the hippest playlist from spotify, buy you a pizza, put his arm around you, and say "You got this, whippersnapper!" After that nice meal, he'll join you and your friends on discord and play Roblox with the team.

Clyde was an abuser and a drunk so it makes sense why he fell off the map. Had he not been a drunk he would have been better imo. Pope has better results overall I’d say, but Clyde recruited better when he was drunkenly on and that’s sad.
Bcg's recruiting was not actually better than Pope's. In 2 years he landed 3 good players and at the end of those two years (where Pope currently sits) only one had actually done anything of significance.
