Pretty sure kale petersen would be getting the nod if not for crookham. Even with crookham we’ll still see a lot of petersen at 133. 165 Torres more than likely ahead of Kennedy. And if we don’t portal anybody for 157 my guess is Estrada gets a really good chance to make that his spot. Two weeks ago we were looking at Jace Rhodes at 133 and Joseph Kennedy at 165.
We're still stuck with "Tom's Secret Weapon" Victor Voinovich at 157, and 25-30-ish Ludington at 97, but we've gone from 4 ice cream breaks to 1 or 2. And I haven't given up on Ludington. (Sorry, VV.)
Still looking like a brutal season, but slightly less brutal. I'm excited about the new blood.

If Hawks cant snag Zepeda, could try to get JW back. I still think he is a high AA if he should commit to it.Two weeks ago we were looking at Jace Rhodes at 133 and Joseph Kennedy at 165.

I’m hoping for Zepeda or Shapiro. Maybe Echemendia at 49 and bump Block to 57? I’ve heard mixed opinions on Block’s ability to make 49 so unsure of how difficult it is for him to make that cut but he does *look* big for the weightIf Hawks cant snag Zepeda, could try to get JW back. So after his level of commitment for two previous schools and this season for the hawks you think seeking out a kid u basically didn’t let finish the season is the way to go? No inside formation but after the way his effort level appeared n a few matches I think it’s up to him to prove his level of commitment somewhere else. He can’t be rewarded sends a horrible message to the whole team and recruits. We’re not serious. If Hawks cant snag Zepeda, could try to get JW back. A lot of tom coached teams have had a lot of title type guysYO guys expectations ALWAYS seem 2woooo be a lil low?????
DeLUCA
COOK em
BAILEY
BLOCK/ZEPEDA
CARTER
ARNOLD
FERRARI
LUNGINGTON
B1G BEN
There are NO holes in that line up!!! There is NOT a weight that can't AA! You have TITLE type guys at several weights!!! I get IOWA still needs some things to come together!!! B1Ggest up there ^^^ is getting ZEPETA to work out 49-57!!!
HEALTH issues are also very B!G!!!! That being said, only other thing is if LUNGINGTON is not ready??? In which case you bring in AJ!!!!
MIGHT not win a title?????? BUTTs(<<< you guys aka ARSES!!!! GET you HAWK glasses on for pete sake!!!) This team will be REAL good!!! Few guys break out and .......... it is ON!!!!!
If only there was a guy on here that owned a company that did NCAA rankings…probably a long shot but does anyone have either Iowa's rankings Preseason Rankings or Post Big Ten Rankings vs. NCAA finish over the last few years?
i thought this year they did a better job (than in the recent past) of hitting their pre-tournament expectations.
YEP, guess you are TRYING to be funny BUTT(<dats U a BUTT) you have NO clue!!! LOOK at the BEST team since 2000 record wise!!! It is IOWA!!! TnT doing more with much less PERIOD!!!!A lot of tom coached teams have had a lot of title type guys![]()

Block has been trying to fill out since he got here. He's just a lean kid.If we don't land Zepeda or Ech (yuck), I'm hoping we see Estrada at 49 and Block at 57.
Estrada is short and blocky with short arms. His lack of length will hurt him more at 57 than 49 imo.
Block is a Dylan Ness starter kit imo (he's even taller and longer than Ness was, listed at 5'11", DN was 5' 9ish).
Let Block fill out and add some more strength and hopefully we don't see the late match fading we saw quite a bit last season.
I respect what you know but my eyes tell me differently. Kids mature and fill out at different rates and with the right program they can put a quality 8-10lbs on him before next season.Block has been trying to fill out since he got here. He's just a lean kid.
Williams definitely showed flashes of talent but I get the no gas tank and giving up overrides. I don't know if with money from schools/donors, contracts can be made that are incentive based on not, but would be great with a Williams type. Im not even sure if he would return to Hawks and its a long shot for him to commit to anything. But, got to think this board will blow up come December with the offense of Estrada/Voinovich.So after his level of commitment for two previous schools and this season for the hawks you think seeking out a kid u basically didn’t let finish the season is the way to go? Everyone said the same when he was 138 in HS and was barely cutting. Some guys the eye test doesn't work. Remember Deakin he looked huge but wasn't. Put Block next to Cannon ohio st and you will see he's a 149I respect what you know but my eyes tell me differently. Block also nearly died on the mat (exaggerating but still) trying to cut to 41 two years ago and looked absolutely sickly doing so. That wasn't from a minor cut. We saw some of the same last year.
At PSU he'd be a 57 and strong as hell. Maybe he just needs 6 months of Kasak beef vs whatever program him and Keuter are on.
He’s shown who he is at this point. Needs to prove himself somewhere else. Id rather ride with who we have. Don’t care about message board whining. Terrible culture message. He’s a no Albert is a no.Williams definitely showed flashes of talent but I get the no gas tank and giving up overrides. Deakin was verified to have the same bone structure as birds if I recall. It was crazy he could make 57.Everyone said the same when he was 138 in HS and was barely cutting. The other side of this is Block feels 149 is his best weight. Not everybody is a hyper responder to putting on weight and he doesn’t want to spend his off season focusing on overeating and lifting vs……wrestling and getting better.Deakin was verified to have the same bone structure as birds if I recall. It was crazy he could make 57.
I guess we'll see, I just don't see Estrada being able to compete at 57 against the top guys, and we've seen enough of the VV experience.
Seems natural to have the guy that's almost 6' to bump a weight and be healthier.
Yea, I would prefer Estrada over JW or VVNah. Tried. Failed. Go with what you have at that point. Roll with Estrada or whomever the best man is over that.
Good God NO! He's had plenty of opportunity to be that high AA should he "commit to it".If Hawks cant snag Zepeda, could try to get JW back. I still think he is a high AA if he should commit to it.
This was known last summer it’s not newGood God NO! He's had plenty of opportunity to be that high AA should he "commit to it".
I might have missed it posted here, but saw an article a couple weeks back (Hawk Central) where Williams settled some court case for an apparent bar fight or something similar from June 2025. Don't recall the particulars, but got a minor fine, court costs, etc.
I personally don't care too much, but Tom Brands likely did. Regardless, I wish the kid well, but don't ever want to see him in an Iowa singlet again. Too many Jacori Teemer viibes for me.
No **** Columbo, you cracked the case! What about June 2025 that was typed didn't you understand? This was known last summer it’s not new
Umm. When u refer to it as “some court case”. And “apparent bar fight” makes it sound like it was something that wasn’t known. If they knew about it all last summer before he was even in school I don’t know why the settlement would b why they sent him packing. Maybe it wasNo **** Columbo, you cracked the case! It just got SETTLED on April 3rd, so very recent and been pending the entire season. I didn't see the SETTLEMENT mentioned here, which is probably why I said "I might have missed it posted here".
We like our guys…VV being our starter this year would be horrific
You don’t think TnT have ever been in a bar fight? (I know they don’t drink, btw…)Good God NO! He's had plenty of opportunity to be that high AA should he "commit to it".

Have a nice day.
My personal perspective is that Tom thought JW quit during matches, which makes him a quitter. It’s one of the worst things you can do as a wrestler. Bobby Knight, “Potential is nothing more than unproven talent.”If Hawks cant snag Zepeda, could try to get JW back. I still think he is a high AA if he should commit to it.
If Iowa doesn't get Zepeda, which doesn't sound great, I think you roll with Block, Estrada, and Schubert at 149-165.
To beat them now, you would have to convince their starter to enter the portal, convince them to transfer here, and somehow come up with the money. Their backups, like Sealy won’t even transfer, so that’s not happening. If Schubert beats out Sealy he would be 4th string on the good guys behind Mesenbrink, Duke, and James on the GOOD GUYS ROSTER.
