And if we get all three we have a very good team on paper. If Stokes joins that we have a FF caliber team
I don’t know about all of that. I will definitely feel much better about having a competitive team at least, but our guard play is unknown Diallo hasn’t proven to lead an elite team yet. Wilkins has talent but needs to step up nightly now. Moreno needs lots of work to be a top tier big man. Pope hasn’t proven to be that great on the court consistently. We lack Star power outside Stokes. Depth is still an issue and unknown shooting. Way too soon to proclaim that level of team.

Yeah, we would have to fill out the roster, but if we get those three and Stokes...
Zoom
Wilkins
Stokes
Freeman
Moreno

Kam
Rancik
Mason Williams

We would need another shooter and a backup 5, a legit backup PG...but thats pretty salty either way
I'd like to see us go after Chris Jeffrey for the backup PG role. Wilkins can also slide and run point at anytime as well. I'd rather have Osaruyi reclass as the backup 5 than Devin Williams but it will be one of the 2. I'm also in the camp that Potter plays 8-10 minutes a game this year as well.

It's a mental illness. You can't find a post I've ever put on here saying I'm an insider. I'm not, I'm a performance coach with a background in Neuroscience. Not a basketball journalist or "insider." I'm a lifelong Kentucky fan though hence why I'm on this message board to begin with.
Maybe one of your predictions didn't come to be and it just ruined his whole life. And he then sought revenge.
I'd take it as a compliment. If you have your own dedicated trolls, that means you've really made it.

Then why are uconn and other top schools going after them. Just because you don't know them doesn't mean they aren't good. Both of those players pass the eye test for sure
Difference being, they have highly ranked returning players and HS recruits, they don’t need these guys to be stars, we do, we’re returning two average players with one solid portal player.

Match that team up against last seasons UK team

Zoom vs DA(edge true PG Zoom)
Wilkins vs Chandler(edge Wilkins)
Stokes vs Oweh(Love OO...edge still Stokes)
Freeman vs Jelly(massive edge Freeman)
Soph MM vs Frosh MM(edge year two MM)

Kam, Rancik, Williams and whoever else we sign would be better than last seasons bench with BG, Jasper and Noah sightings...

Much better team with better position fits

Hawthorne should figure into your rotation. If Potter isn't a capable back up, why is he here? Kam can slide down to a 4 if needed, Rancik is your 4/5 backup. That roster needs a knockdown 3 and d guard guard that isn't inept as a ball handler.

Embarrassment of riches really. I'm all seriousness wete you all doing this last year? Even the idiot coavj was likening his roster to a Ferrari and comparing it to one of CBB's all time squads

Freeman announcement expected today barring a last minute push from UConn. His decision could make or break the season bc it could have a big effect on Stokes' commitment (expected early next week)

We'll find out soon enough. Lot of buzz. MAJOR buzz...

In fairness, last year we thought we would have Lowe and Kam the whole season and JQ for most of it.

And before you go pretending to be Nostradamus, I can go back and bump the game thread from the scrimmage when we blew the doors off preseason #1 Purdue and the optimism for the roster was pretty much universal board wide

We had dudes last year. Hindsight is 20/20 and I don't think Pope coached them to the best of their abilities BUT the idea that the roster was garbage is revisionist history. We had talent.

I know it was universal...for a week until freaking Georgetown blew out doors off. It was dumb then especially MP comparing that group to '96 with him and not P at the helm to boot. "JQ, Lowe and Kam" hardly warranted the Ferrari and '96 comparisons even without the injuries excuse. The same thing is about to happen here. Just because they commit here a lot of these dopes will be convinced we have the next LeBron, Kobe and Magic. Without fail.

No they won't. After last year, I think majority of fans are going to approach this season with caution.

Jelavic's per 40 rebounding numbers certainly look impressive. But would you agree that something is just wrong with shot - or maybe it would be more accurate to say he just doesn't seem to have "touch." The form doesn't look bad - sometimes I think he short-arms it - but it just catches way too much rim on both his perimeter and FTs. I'm not claiming to know for sure what the shooting issue is or if it's something he can get right fairly soon, but the vibe I get is he doesn't have a great natural talent for shooting - and sometimes all the practice in the world can't fix that.
Spins it too much for me. Those guys either seem to make it or it hits the rim going 100 MPH. I get those two guys are different players, but when you get into the analytics of it their net result isn't much difference. I'm fine with the dude if he's, say, Freeman's backup. But man, if he's playing 25 or so mins, no bueno.

Here's what I do when someone claims to know something or be an insider:

I think to myself "hope they are right."

And if it turns out to be right that's cool and if it's wrong I think to my self "d amn that sucks" and then I move on with my life.

Just my humble advice.
Yep but there’s some that think we read it and then rush over to Kalshi to bet on it.

Comparing Per 40 doesn’t make sense with someone that is a full time player (28 mpg) and someone that didn’t even get 28 minutes in any game this season.

Plus I still see a lot of difference in Rancik being better in everything other than rebounding even with this rates.

A big difference is 27% 3pt and 53% FT vs 33% 3pt and 86% FT.
Again, net result is extremely similar. That's why I said the per 40 numbers. It wouldn't make a difference if Jelavich played sparing minutes. He didn't. He average half-ish the mins. That's a valid comparison.

I'm more concerned about injuries and no backup plans than I am Pope having success with these higher-end transfers. I think he can make something happen if he just has them all 100% healthy from August - March. I say that hesitantly but there's hope - just need minimal to no injuries to these key players.
