This guy honestly looks like a big upgrade over Jelavic. Reminds me of Carr, but can Pope sign him?
24th rated PF in the portal says, hello 14+ losses! Heck, pair him with the 9th rated PG from a losing team, and the 80th ranked 2G from BFE State, and Pope will favored to threaten that 63% winning percentage next season!

It will be way closer to 50% than 63%, if we’re being honest.

He has some flaws that keep him from currently being a star, but I wouldn’t totally hate this if we can’t get Freeman. His 33% mark from three isn’t earth shattering, but is serviceable for a stretch big, and there’s reason for optimism that he could improve it a bit since he was an 86% free throw shooter. He also had a really solid defensive rebounding rate and showed some passing ability this year. He did all this in the Big 12, so there’s less concern about his game not translating or needing time to adjust against high level competition.

The flaws are that he doesn’t rate very well defensively and will absolutely need to improve his finishing inside the arc, as 47% from 2 is honestly pretty bad for someone his size. I could see him being a legitimate rotation piece on a good team, but probably not a star unless he makes a big jump in his development.

I agree, but it's between this guy or Noah at pf at this point.

Rancik was an IU lean, but it appears that IU is getting Aiden Sherrill from Bama to pop for them today, and they got the 7'2" guy from SMU yesterday.

So Rancik just cancelled his IU visit and is visiting Lexington.

Yeah, kinda my thoughts exactly haha
Shows some fluidity to his movements and 2 APG at pf is nice; especially as a sophomore.
Would be genuinely excited about this prospect, if we had some big time players locked in already.

So basically it was IU that backed off because they found someone better?

Yeah, this is depressing. We used to be the ultimate “we eat first” program, now we’re fishing for castoffs.
