Yes. Pope is killing it here. 1 high school commit (who is out of the top 100), zero transfer portal recruits, and over half the roster leaving.

24th rated PF in the portal says, hello 14+ losses! Heck, pair him with the 9th rated PG from a losing team, and the 80th ranked 2G from BFE State, and Pope will favored to threaten that 63% winning percentage next season!
It will be way closer to 50% than 63%, if we’re being honest.
He has some flaws that keep him from currently being a star, but I wouldn’t totally hate this if we can’t get Freeman. His 33% mark from three isn’t earth shattering, but is serviceable for a stretch big, and there’s reason for optimism that he could improve it a bit since he was an 86% free throw shooter. He also had a really solid defensive rebounding rate and showed some passing ability this year. He did all this in the Big 12, so there’s less concern about his game not translating or needing time to adjust against high level competition.
The flaws are that he doesn’t rate very well defensively and will absolutely need to improve his finishing inside the arc, as 47% from 2 is honestly pretty bad for someone his size. I could see him being a legitimate rotation piece on a good team, but probably not a star unless he makes a big jump in his development.

Rancik was an IU lean, but it appears that IU is getting Aiden Sherrill from Bama to pop for them today, and they got the 7'2" guy from SMU yesterday.

Shows some fluidity to his movements and 2 APG at pf is nice; especially as a sophomore.

More likely Rancik backed off because he correctly sees that their is no longer a featured role for him at IU.

How close is this guy compared to an healthy Andrew Carr? He’s clearly better than Jelavic.
He shoots 1.3-4.1 from three, so shoots at 33.1%. Jumped up a ton from last year, percentage-wise, too. Good for about 2 APG. He also has two more years in the tank.
