The only takeaway from ned's post is that he's an ageist misogynist.
he's a BoTH sIdEs piece of shvt and you'll save yourself a lot of secondhand embarrassment by putting him on ignore. he's literally one of the 80-year olds that Megyn Kelly and MTG are talking about...

Not everyone is as smart as you Ned but let's quit pretending like Trump is sane and would never do anything crazy. I didn't say I believed Trump would drop a nuke, I was just sharing this guy's thoughts about the way HE feels.

He made a very valid point though about Iranian families. After Trump has killed thousands of their citizens, including bombing a girl's school and three levels of their leadership, it's easy to imagine an Iranian mother being terrified by Trump's comments that he would bomb them back to the Stone Age and end their civilization if they didn't do what he wanted.

These people are helpless and between the IRGC and Trump's repulsive threats, they're just sitting ducks and have no idea what to think.

Quit pretending like his bombastic threats don't mean anything just because they don't mean anything to you.
Oh, there's lots of people smarter than me, just not the guy on that podcast.. he's the one that mentioned nuclear...

You still haven't figured out trump. he says a lot of things, some bombastic and some not, that really are hyperbole and meaningless. I still don't understand how, after 4 years in first term and 1 1'/2 this term, anybody gets truly excited about this. I guess it's just perspective.

I know you know this, but you have your perspective based on your internal filters...education, upbringing family, friends, job, beliefs...others have opinions based on their internal filters based on the same things. Those opinions and perspectives are not by either belief or general definition, intended to be counter than anyone's else's...they just belong to them. You seem to believe that anybody who sees things differently than you is wrong... I personally don't think that's healthy. The only way people live together peacefully is working out those differences...This board is not the only place in the world where two people can see the same thing and walk away with a different perspective.

Ever read or watch "to kill a mokingbird"? Gregory peck I believe. was big back in the 60s...don't judge a man until you walk a mile in his shoes....it still applicable today.

MAGA 2 Months ago: "No new foreign wars!" That's what I voted for!

MAGA now: "We'll bomb them back to the Stone Age!" That's what I voted for!
this is the first time I have ever heard of anyone changing their political positions

Seriously, just how ignorant are you? Nothing has changed, except the administration of how registration is done. Ffs, this started with Carter, a Democrat in 1980 regarding Russia attacking Afghanistan. I registered the very first year this went into effect. Whine some more, beta boy. Is there anything you don't cry about? You are absolutely clueless on every subject you discuss. Chicken Little.
I had forgotten about Carter...in my day, turned 18 in 1962, every male was required to register for the draft....I remember it well, because I was almost drafted..joined instead. Ah, those were the days....a chance to see southeast Asia...

"White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt in March said that while a draft is “not part of the current plan right now,” President Trump “wisely keeps his options on the table.”
dpic you might be a little removed from this, the draft is not new...I have a grandson, just turn 23..at 18 he had to register in person I believe (might be wrong about that) for the draft. They're just changing how the registration happens. So far we have a voluntary force and no need for the draft

I get it Ned, I do. I was just passing along an article about how they will have an expedited way to have a pool of recruits to draw from, if ever needed.

Before now, have you ever heard of a president having a cult of followers so devoted they'd jump off a cliff for him?
I don't know of many that would jump off a cliff for trump...not saying you don't. Back in the 1980s there was a heck of a lot of support for reagan. In fact in the 1984 election he won every state except Mn...But jump off a cliff, don't think so...

thing is, there won't be any more of a system than what we have today....don't like the draft, hope we don't need it in the future and that we have enough young men and women who are willing to serve the country.

You'll like this one. My brother, who is 76, was assigned #2 in the draft lottery. He failed, never happening again, because he had flat feet. No lie, a month later, he enlisted on his own and went to Nam.

Believe me when I say this, no one, absolutely no one wants your sorry pathetic a$$ in the military.

Hey, @dpic73 ... your exchange with Hotturd is a perfect encapsulation of just about every experience with the frothing horse wanker.

1. You post a tweet that conveys only that the Selective Service registration is being made an automatic occurrence. You say nothing else on the matter.

2. Hotturd storms in, calling you ignorant, before anything else. Ignorant about what? Well, apparently that the Selective Service registration is being made an automatic occurrence ... you know, just like the tweet you posted conveyed. Then, an irrelevant factoid about Carter. Then another insult. And another. And another. And another.

So, to this point, you posted something, he agreed with that something ... so you conveyed the same information. Then he insulted you 5 times for being ignorant about the thing ... without ever explaining what the supposed ignorance was regarding ... but there was that random historical factoid thrown in.

It's amazing how mental this guy is. Remember ... he was a moderator!

So, then ...

3. You make a post, first with a mocking insult chart highlighting the typical MAGAt responses ... but then just posting the White House spokesperson's commentary regarding the draft ... that there are no plans for one now, but Trump won't rule it out. That's it. You gave no personal commentary. Simply posted a pro-Trump person's official comment.

4. Hotturd reiterates his point ... which, again, agrees with your original tweet ... then insults you at least twice more ... before he tells you that you were wrong, despite you only posting information that agrees with him, and demands for you to grow up and own it. Then he insults you again, as he speaks on behalf of other people, even though he has no information to support his accusation (you know, like he's actually being ignorant).

Welcome to the wonderful world of Hotturd, the horse wankerer.

I wasn't, but my older brother was. He ended up as 100% disabled, had a VA file about 3-4 inches thick, all kinds of problems from brain lesions, to abnormal growths ....he was 11B, told me about hiking for days through jungles and all of a sudden coming to wide clear area, He joked that when they'd stop for the night, they'd dig their defensive positions just throwing the dirt in the air..at the time nobody knew about agent orange. He died from non related injuries at 77. Silver star...was a great guy.

I flew cobras...didn't like the ground...

My God. Hat's off to you and your brother. Infantry was beyond horrible in Nam. My brother was as well, and have no idea how he made it home. In WWII, I had 5 family members fight from Europe to the Pacific. Somehow, they all made it home.

there are a lot of truly funny stories about what steps people went through, given all the "rules" about who was eligible for the dfrat and the steps people would go through avoid it.

One of those rules was that a family was only required to have one son over there at the same time...My father, a German immigrant, didn't particularly care for that rule...he felt that when the country called, you went. So in 1970, older brother was on the ground, I was in the air, and younger brother was at sea...my mother was none too happy...but there were 4 more at home :)

My family was at Bastogne, 10th Artillery, N Africa, and a POW in Japan. All, somehow made it home. My father cleaned out Dachau, Landsburg, and it affected him for the rest of his life. I have photos of the ovens in which he buried victims. He was never the same according to my mother. He also wouldn't speak of it to anyone but me, because he knew I wanted to be a historian and I wanted to know.

Would you still support him if he lied to your face 50,000 times? ☑️
Would you still support him if you knew he paid hush money to a porn star to keep her from revealing an affair he had with her while Melania was pregnant with Barron, in order to hide it from the voters? ☑️
Would you still support him if he tried to overturn my vote in multiple ways, including violence against our own government? ☑️
Would you still support him if he was convicted of sexual assault?☑️
Would you still support him if he pardoned 1500 insurrectionists, including many with prior convictions for child abuse or other criminal acts?☑️
Would you still support him if he mocked an old man who had his skull cracked open because of the lies he told about an election? ☑️
Would you still support him if he tweeted vile, repulsive insults about half the country including calling them vermin, scum, the enemy within and radical left lunatics? ☑️
Would you still support him if he promised you he would bring down inflation but did the opposite? ☑️
Would you still support him if his policies caused millions to lose their healthcare while making his peers filthy rich? ☑️
Would you still support him if he pardoned criminals that owed victims millions of dollars or a drug kingpin who smuggled 400 tons of cocaine into our country? ☑️
Would you still support him if he trashed and insulted all of our allies while sucking up to enemies and dictators? ☑️
Would you still support him if he promised no new wars only to bomb Iran to smithereens?☑️
Would you still support him if he threatened to bomb another country back to the Stone Age and said “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again.?” ☑️

I can see where that would be life changing for anyone who trusted humanity. It's still difficult to believe that human beings would treat others that way...

And it seems as if antisemitism didn't end after WWII
