If Zoom leaves town without us getting a commitment, how concerned will you be ?

Zero. The roster is going to be what is regardless of my level of concern.
One path: Pope puts together a great roster and we look like UK of old. That’s a win.
Second path: Pope puts together a mediocre or bad roster and we get to go find another coach next year. That’s a win.

I’ve been desensitized to this for months now… Whoever he does get, I just hope they have fun and enjoy playing together, and showcase a fun style of basketball!
Im not even expecting to compete for anything next season, I just want to them to run and gun, score a bunch of points, and win whatever games they can.

Like a 3. It would raise some level of concern obviously so it’s not a zero. But he could be wanting to make sure he gets his bag and isn’t the discounted option for UK as well.
I’m less attached to the names as I am tiers of players.
Right now I still have 4 tier 1 PGs on the board that we’ve been associated with: Wright, Diallo, Dedan, Quinn Ellis(that name faded quickly when everyone thought he was committing to Louisville a couple weeks ago lol)

You never know with the portal. Some guys go back to discuss with their families first.
I began to worry about that situation when I read that Arizona is wanting Zoom now. With their recent success I’m afraid if they go after him hard he wont come here. As a fan, it’s still weird to me that we now have to worry so much about recruiting.
If he leaves without a commitment, then I don’t think he’s coming here.
Zoom is the #9 PG in the portal and a 30% three point shooter, hopefully not being recruited as a starter.
Man, if Pope can get Dedan Thomas and Zoom, he would get a lot of fans back on board. That would be some damn good recruiting. Risky though.

I just want pope get his guys that fits his system and couple of guys that could improve on what we were bad at this past season...rebounding, getting to the free throw line and careless turnovers.

So many schools seem to be getting guys who don’t even visit, yet we have guys come thru and not commit. It’s wild.
Seems like Pope is trying to get point guard(s) before focusing on other positions. Time is of the essence.

If playing with Zoom is part of your pitch to Stokes, seems like you’d want him locked in before Stokes’s visit.
I think its fair that most fans on this board are hoping for the best but has tempered their recruiting expectations based off Pope's last two years. While most will be disappointed it wouldn't be a surprise to them. It just further proves that Pope doesn't have what it takes to land the best guys.
As others have said. If he leaves Lexington without signing a deal, it’s an absolutely epic fail for Pope. Schools are signing dudes by freaking text for crying out loud.

He is, but in Pope's system he will be at least 40% and his assist-to-turnover ratio(4.5 to 2.5) will dramatically improve because of data and stuff...
I think the Stokes/Zoom connection is being way overblown. Why isn’t Kansas involved with Zoom if it’s such a big deal?
It would honestly just confirm that Pope isn't a closer like we already suspect. Doesn't mean Zoom won't eventually commit, but if you're bringing a guy in for a two-day visit in the prime of portal season and can't land at least a verbal, then you aren't ready for the big leagues of recruiting IMO.

Pope is either going to put together a great roster capable of being nationally competitive all season long or he’ll build a mediocre to bad team that will seal his fate as UK’s coach. I am rooting for the former but bracing for the latter.

Hopefully this and the Zoom smoke with Zona means Rob Wright is about to commit to us. If we whiff on all three it's my fault for getting my hopes up I guess

or Maybe the rumors of Zoom not wanting to run with Thomas WAS true and Pope has gone all in on Zoom. I didn’t want Thomas cause of his injury concerns but had relegated the fact that Pope was after him.
Then if we don't get Wright we are again settling for 4th and 5th options at PG.
