Carnegie definitely starts as 2g over TS who I think would be much more consistent and effective off the bench. Carnegie would just be a huge upgrade talent wise. She is rated as one of the top ten portal prospects. Would be a huge get. We need Lasondra and Chit Chat to do their magic.Iowa will be hosting Georgia transfer Dani Carnegie this weekend (5'9 guard).
Has 2 years left
She averaged 17.8 pts, 5.3 rebs and 3.2 assists last season
Shot 43% from the field and 35% from three.
Played with Chit Chat Wright at Georgia Tech as a freshman.
Was coached by Iowa assistant Lasondra Barrett.

This all makes perfect sense given what we know today.I haven't looked thru many of the posts here, so what I have heard may have already been covered. Hare from Iowa St. has already visited (yesterday, I believe). She has interest from Michigan. Hare would be a good replacement for what McCabe offered. Can shoot the 3, has quick release and spreads the floor for Iowa. That was missing after McCabe got hurt. Iowa has interest in Speiser (K-State) but the rumor is her price tag is steep (maybe too steep currently). Iowa appears to be all in on Carnegie from Georgia. Carnegie and Chit-Chat played together with Florida Essence (AAU) and went to G-Tech for a year together, I am told. Addie Deal was unhappy pretty much from the get-go and was not happy about coming off the bench. She let her 5 star status go to her head in what she was entitled to and what she actually needed to earn. Someone has to replace Kylie's minutes and if Coach Jan didn't promise Addie those minutes, then that tells you a lot about the evaluation of Deal by the staff. Callie Levin simply wants to play and the staff doesn't feel she is going to get the minutes she wants, so she is moving on. From another source, I hear she began looking around elsewhere before the season ended and it became well known she was doing so. Intel tells me that Iowa can afford 2 higher priced transfers, but the rest of the roster may need to be some really good mid-major kids looking to play at the next level. Carnegie would be a great get. She can make plays, especially in crunch time with the shot clock running down.
It was time for Journey and Divine to split up and Divine has some family in Illinois. Those in the know thought Divine was going to select Illinois all along. Her going there now is no surprise.

Stremlow could move to the 3 as well. Still don’t have a wing player but Jones could play the 3. Another huge talent upgrade.
Might see a 3g offense again unless MW can move immediately into the SF/Wing role.
I'm a bit surprised that Iowa can only afford 2 higher priced transfers. Was it way off that Deal got $1m and Rodriguez got quite handsome an amount too? and I would think Stuelke, McCabe, Feuerbach all got very good NIL deals. Some said even Levin had a good NIL deal. Does the NIL money fluctuate a lot from year to year?I haven't looked thru many of the posts here, so what I have heard may have already been covered. I'm sure that Ava, CCW, Strem, and Journey all got nice bumps, you have McKenna coming in with a hefty price tag, and 2 higher priced transfers is going to fill the open guard spot and a backup guard spot with Addie and Emrod money. That's the top 9 rotation right there. After that you're not looking for high priced talent but role players to fill out the roster.I'm a bit surprised that Iowa can only afford 2 higher priced transfers. On a more talented roster she would be much more effective off the bench. She was forced into the starting lineup and wasn’t even JJs preference to start her when TMStremlow could mive move to the 3 as well. Contrary to your belief she was much more consistent and effective as a starter this year.
Right. Jan was wrong. Stremlow earned the starting nod and statistically speaking she was much more effective than McCabe ever was. You're just going to have to accept that.On a more talented roster she would be much more effective off the bench. Went down. And TS wore down at the end, playing her worst ball after starting 10 games or so. Obviously a better bench player on a more talented roster.
I saw somewhere McKenna's NIL money was around $500k, nowhere near $1m.I'm sure that Ava, CCW, Strem, and Journey all got nice bumps, you have McKenna coming in with a hefty price tag, and 2 higher priced transfers is going to fill the open guard spot and a backup guard spot with Addie and Emrod money. Whiting seems a solid player. She had nine points, five rebounds, three assists with no turnovers against UCLA in the tournament. So far the four names mentioned coming for visits are positive news. Carnagie is a 5'9" scorer. Whiting is the daughter of ex BYU coach. Brueggeman and the Hare are nice options too. unfortunately, they all are in the same size range as 2 guards maybe a shooting forward. Brueggeman is 5"11.
Nice to see your name back around. Always felt like there was something to learn about the team and about some of the internal thought process of the coaches and players. Hopefully we continue to see your name.I haven't looked thru many of the posts here, so what I have heard may have already been covered. Hare from Iowa St. has already visited (yesterday, I believe). I don't exactly know what you mean about Divine and Journey needing to split up. Not following the thinking on that one from anything I have heard.I haven't looked thru many of the posts here, so what I have heard may have already been covered. That’s not my point but nice straw man argument. She was effective backing up TM and why she was in that position. And Deal got first dibs over TS. Why? Talent. JJ I believes understands TS limitations. Solid player and warrior. But gotta upgrade at the 2g.Right. Jan was wrong. Stremlow earned the starting nod and statistically speaking she was much more effective than McCabe ever was. You're just going to have to accept that.
Every time I open one of the recruiting threads you have several that act like we have no chance of getting anything worthwhile out of the portal...I don't understand why... guessing it's like that meme ...woke up today ..it was terribleThe only place that narrative exists is on boards like this with a certain subset of posters.
And? So let's say that Addie was 750k- 1mm and Erod was $300k. That's $1.1mm to $1.3mm saved. McKenna takes $500k. That leaves $600-$800 for 2 incoming transfers and that doesn't even include the bumps that the existing players are getting.I saw somewhere McKenna's NIL money was around $500k, nowhere near $1m.
And we will this year too....but we got a P4 player last year.
Wrong poster dude. Try again.Every time I open one of the recruiting threads you have several that act like we have no chance of getting anything worthwhile out of the portal...I don't understand why... guessing it's like that meme ...woke up today ..it was terrible![]()
Right. the point is about having enough money to afford more elite talent. Not just complimentary players. So yes it’s definitely saving money without Deal and ER but those two made good money based on talent potential. Gotta go big if you can. And? So let's say that Addie was 750k- 1mm and Erod was $300k. Deal went in first because Jan was using her as McCabe's backup in rotation and was getting a ton of pressure to insert her as a starter. Deal doesn't have more talent than Stremlow just because she had more stars coming out of high school. That's always been your premise and it's always been wrong. Stremlow was twice the player that Deal was this year and the numbers support that assertion. That’s not my point but nice straw man argument. Portal targets suggest TS will likely come off the bench next year. JJ does seem to understand this.,
The days of paying for potential are over. Until things change this is a pro league.Right. the point is about having enough money to afford more elite talent. Not just complimentary players. You said the narrative we wouldn't get any P4 players was a subset of posters on boards like this. I was basically agreeing with you so not sure what you mean?Wrong poster dude. Try again.
What about the money that Steulke, McCabe and Feuerbach left? And Levin, Mallegni, etc.? They all go to bumping up the deals with Heiden, Stremlow, Houston, CCW, Hays? Seems excessive. And? The price of poker has definitely gone up, but yeah, those current players you mentioned I'm sure are getting a lot more money than the other 3 you mentioned. What about the money that Steulke, McCabe and Feuerbach left? Deal was not close to $750K+. More like $350K.And? So let's say that Addie was 750k- 1mm and Erod was $300k. That's $1.1mm to $1.3mm saved. McKenna takes $500k. That leaves $600-$800 for 2 incoming transfers and that doesn't even include the bumps that the existing players are getting.
Really? That's not what's been discussed around here. What is your source?Deal was not close to $750K+. More like $350K.
What amount was Iowa willing to pay her next year?Deal was not close to $750K+. More like $350K.
Strem could certainly play the three as well. Its basically the same positionCarnegie definitely starts as 2g over TS who I think would be much more consistent and effective off the bench. Carnegie would just be a huge upgrade talent wise. Huge get if they can close the deal.

This. There's not much difference between the two and three anyway, and Strem has a nose for the ball....Stremlow could move to the 3 as well. Contrary to your belief she was much more consistent and effective as a starter this year.
I was in Palm Springs for a meeting the last two days and Wednesday afternoon I was sitting in the hotel lounge with an Iowa shirt on. A gentleman walked up to me and said I see you are a Hawkeye fan. Long story short, he told me his daughter was recruited by JJ to play basketball at Iowa. She was a top 100 player according to ESPN. Naturally, my thought was why didn't she commit? He spoke kindly of Iowa, as a family they liked the city, the players were friendly to their daughter and the fans were super. He then explained why his daughter chose not to come to Iowa. He said the moment they entered Carver and went on the court, the discussion was about Caitlin Clark; her jersey in the rafters, her number on the floor, etc. JJ pointed out where they hold their "circle".That turned his daughter off because this was history not the present or future and the talk of a circle and culture did not resonate with her.Later that day his daughter told him, I'm really not interested in CC as I will never play with her. In a discussion with three of the coaches they asked about their basketball philosophy and such. According to him, their daughter thrives in a fast paced structure. Again, according to him, JJ did not effectively delineate a strategy. They asked more specific questions and never felt JJ had a solid grasp of their style of basketball. He never felt that JJ was as effective of a communicator as she needed to be as a coach of a major program. Finally, he said money was not an issue with him or his daughter. All she wanted was to play basketball and believe that her coach would further her career, and his daughter did not get that vibe. I will say, I looked this girl up. She is a first or second player off the bench and had a nice, but not stellar season. Now should I believe everything he said, who knows? But his daughter plays at a strong program, that I can verify.

Hawkbuck seems to have some solid info. He is saying $500K for Addie. I think $750K is high. Bottom line her and Emely freed up around $800K or more.Really? That's not what's been discussed around here. What is your source?
What is the credible source that Deal got a million or close to it?Really? That's not what's been discussed around here. What is your source?
