If PBA is sold out every game it seems odd the basketball revenue isn't higher, Dannen will raise the prices like he did with football and volleyball.

Fred is a good coach who is at a program that doesn't draw much recruiting water. The portal is a nice tool for him and if he can sustain this level of play, the HS recruiting should pick up a bit.
Forget most all of the high school kids…just pluck great players with experience out of the mid majors, grab a player from P5 team when his coach gets fired (ex- Sandfort) you don’t have time to build up a Freshman. Maybe one a year.

Yes sir, basketball tickets should increase in price. Fans are willing to pay more now. Having a good product allows you to do that. In that regards, football ticket prices should have been declining.

I can follow the sentiment, but in pure profit our losing football program brings in many multiples of basketball. But yeah, I'm all for upping Fred's budget.
Agreed , but the foot ball doesn't win and I for one am begtting tired of it. Wasting money on poor Coach choice after poor Coach choice.

I would double Fred’s NIL budget. I wouldn’t give Rhule a cent until he proves he can win 9 games a season with the already numerous resources at his disposal.
So Fred was .262 after 3 years. After 7 years he is up to 493. Right now, even after this great season he has the worst record of any coach at Nebraska since Jerry Bush in the 60’s. He’s worse than his predecessor Tim Miles who we fired. But we let him have more time and patience.

Rhule has had three years and got us to two straight bowls after a decade absence. Nobody has been any better than him since Bo and his .500 record is a huge improvement over his .340 predecessor.

Luckily the administration and boosters are taking the Fred Hoiberg approach to patience that some fans won’t.

Football tickets prices are reasonably fine. It’s the donation to keep your ticket seats every year is the one where we’re not getting our money’s worth.

Apples to oranges comparison. MBB at NU has been a dumpster fire for majority of its existence. Plus, by your same logic Hoiberg would be the best coach NU has had, because he took MBB further than any coach before him.

In regard to Rhule, what in gods name are you talking about? He’s 19-19 and 1-1 in bowls. He has an identical record to Mike Riley, he and Rhule are the definition of mediocrity. It would be one thing if Rhule was paid a similar salary to Riley, but he has the most exorbitant contract of any coach in NU history, and not to mention endless recourses.

Rhule reminds me of a vacuum cleaner. He sucks, blows, and gets laid in the closet.

The university doesn’t own PBA like some colleges own their arena ..
University of Nebraska's Role: The university receives all ticket sales revenue from basketball games and pays a base rent of $750,000, which is often offset by credits from concession revenue (kept by the arena), ticket surcharges ($1/ticket), and turn-back taxes, sometimes resulting in a net credit rather than a payment.

If Duke or Kentucky’s basketball programs fell to the level of their football team, do you think you would have success convincing fans not to worry or complain? Of course not.

Their basketball fans want to hang a banner just like our football fans desire. They don’t want to be compared to a sport at the school that has been average or lower for decades.

And if Duke and Kentucky were firing their coaches every three to four years in spite of the latest one being the best one we’ve had than their fans would be just as stupid as their administration And our “right now” fans.

Tell me who do you want us to hire?

LOL Nebraska fans just don't get... Football can't win without endless support. Nebraska fans got a free ride during the glory days and now the people of Nebraska won't open their wallets to support the football team. The money has to come first, the competition in the Big10 is too good. There won't be a magical season without a massive investment. I think fans need to face the facts. Football isn't basketball. Enrollment at UNL is down, the University takes more from the athletic budget every year to fill the University budget deficit. Fans and mega donors have to open the checkbooks or Nebraska will not win in Football. Outside of the Peed family Nebraska doesn't have a roster of mega donors which means the average Joe Nebraska fan needs to step up.

North Carolina is a bb blue blood. They were in the national championship game 3 to 4 years ago and they just fired their coach. Are they a stupid program? At the same time., I think Penn State was absolutely stupid to fire Franklin who was in the final four 9 months earlier.

I just believe Rhule is not the answer. I’m also not claiming we should switch coaches every few years until we find the right one. I just know this administration has made some terrible decisions and we the fans are paying a steep price for it. It is hard to watch Rhule act like he’s the guy who can get us to double digit wins when he clearly is not IMO. Even his supporters acknowledge there is no chance of that this season. We are stuck.

There are a lot of coaches better than Matt Rhule and a lot of them would take our 10 million a year to do it. But the brilliant extension handed out prevents that for a while. Meanwhile, the Kool-Aid drinkers want us to drink next to them. Those of us who consider ourselves realists are not going to drink Kool-Aid from a fraud. So we gripe about it. Shrug. I’m not sure why some people get upset about that on a fan message board

All I was saying is that good performances by HCs should be rewarded. Not throwing endless money at a lame duck coach.

Ah, you're one of those guys who apparently believes that if we don't have a coach lined up (I do AD work as a side hustle) - Then we need to shut up about the current coach. Why not put me on ignore since my flavor of Kool-aid doesn't work for you?

Rhule is all gas and hot air at this point (Better than Frost? Yes. Great coach? No). He is below average (19-19 record) whether you, me or Dannen has anyone lined up as the next coach. If you don't like that we call him out for it - shrug. Enjoy the false hope. I will be stoked if he improves but meantime, not play your silly game of "You can't complain unless you have someone lined up."

I know how this goes. I say throw the bank at Chris Petersen, you respond "He'll never come!" And where does this get us? Back to "Deal with it" in your eyes. We aren't in the market for a coach so it's a waste of time. If I didn't have a replacement lined up for Scott Fraud, should we have kept him as well - or you just wanted all detractors to zip it?

Just one of a list of great coaches is Jason Eck. He will be a P4 coach soon and he has done nothing but win at 3 schools in a row as he climbs the ranks. (We just hired his former DC). Flat out stud, and immediate turnarounds.

The coach at Nebraska isn't the fix for football... Right now Nebraska is at a systematic disadvantage. They have a weak donor base. Filling a stadium with people in the seats that don't write checks isn't enough... If Nebraska Football could operate like a pro team with its own budget the results would be better. Which is probably the way things go when Universities barely exist in 10 years because of Ai. BIG10 and SEC become a NFL minor league (after they add some more schools) and there is a salary cap. The bankrupt Universities or States will sell the teams off to the highest bidders (Private Equity or "name your billionaire")

Everyone now who has tickets pays donation fee for their seats.

And how do you know what our donor base pays ?
How do you know what other donors pay every year extra to the Huskers Athletic Fund?

Yes that is correct, if you want new seats a donation is required. Donations have been required for new seats in football since ~2005ish (I may be off a year or two)

The problem is that too many legacy ticket holders don't have a donation tied to their seats. But that will be solved soon.

I donate enough annually that I hear what the Nebraska donor base gives compared to other schools...
The problem is two fold... One The Husker Athletic department needs to keep more of what it makes and 2 They need more high profile donors... The Peed family is essentially carrying the Athletic department on its back. Without them things would be really bad.

Complaints should be made to the Board of Regents... Thats really who is to blame for the downfall of Nebraska Football. They are stuck in the past and need to accept that the system changed and its time to evolve or become extinct.

Brent Vigen at Montana State, Tim Polasek at NDSU, or Brian Newberry at Navy. All would prioritize running the football, while teaching fundamentals and instilling physicality.
Yep that’s what we need. A running game. Yea they would of course jump on it because they get a giant raise without proving themselves at this level. Really?

The who you going to get fans are so annoying, it's not the fan base's job to hire coaches, you should expect a competent administration to find competent coaches. You shouldn't settle for mediocrity just because King Kong doesn't have 10 coaches on speed dial ready to take over. Address your who you going to hire questions to Jeffrey Gold and Dannen Yogurt.

Why Polasek at NDST? Every head coach their has been successful to a point going all the way back to Craig Bohl.

Newberry is pretty good football coach but I also think he is too much of reach running a B1G football program in my opinion..

Mainly because Polasek is a Wisconsin native and has experience coaching in the BIG.
