I recognize coming out of redshirt midseason is never ideal. Not sure if there's a weight cut issue or more here, but Davis looks nothing like the promising freshman and All American he was last year. No confidence, no ability to defend shots in the 3rd period, half-hearted shots with no finishes.

I think it's premature to throw in the towel on him. I'm not sure where he fits in the lineup (maybe 149 after SVN leaves), but he has the potential to be a top-5 guy if he can fix the gas tank issues, and more importantly - what's going on between the ears.

Getting tired of the Davis bashing. He has started for 3 years on the strongest teams in NCAA history. That's a lot more than the clowns that are kicking him out the door. He was an AA when he was needed. He stepped in a scored points for a team that might need those points to break the record again.

so Cole Mirasola - Christian Carroll is the only match remaining in this session for PSU.

They met in December in the PSU - Wyoming dual, and Carroll 10-4.

Not a great matchup for Mirasola. Hopefully, he brings his speed to the match, and works that to his advantage.

But they were all elite defeats.
We need Travolta to enunciate those syllables!!

David Taylor has literally stopped every match they're in multiple times to steal lungers. Pathetic DT.
On a related note, when an Okla St lower wt guy was wrestling (forget who) and official warned him on 2 occasions (can't remember the nature of the warnings but not controversial at all), the wrestler immediately looked over at his corner on each occasion, almost reflexively. I thought it was odd to look at your corner, maybe for a bailout, instead owning up to the reason for the warning.

I think its a Jimmy Guilibon thing. Jimmy was good for a year or two then just flashes. Like Davis. I would love to see him come back to a PSU singlet with year of reflection and re-dedication. He has the potential to def be a Top 5 guy but needs to get his head straight.

I have mentioned Davis’s mental state and temper but I also have to mention 3 years in a row he was supposed to redshirt and got thrown into the fire. Never had a year to get ready for specific weight. It’s really not fair what the team has asked of him for his development as a wrestler.
