That is true. He's also very sensitive towards UK and it being the Mecca and just isn't connecting with kids, basically getting upset when they dont commit immediately because its UK. Mark is a 6'10 Taylor Swift loving, Jeopardy watching, philosophical talking need. He doesn't vibe with kids and families don't take him serious.
We are but it's not because of Pope. Money talks and we are offering a bag. There are some behind the scenes people who are really trying to help. I'm not sure it will happen but we have gained some momentum

The only way I could see this even close to being true is if he thought playing at UK would hurt his development and would cost him money in the long run. It’s been said that Pope is getting a lot of negative attention on the recruiting trail and he may have had a coach tell him that? Who knows. I don’t gamble but I wouldn’t at all be surprised if he lied and I wouldn’t be surprised if negative recruiting had an impact
Easy to say, hard to prove. Bottom line is Pope failed in recruiting him.
I guess you probably don't believe the $22M budget either.

look back at Pope’s recruiting history. It’s not good, he’s never been a good recruiter. So it’s hard to say but I think the JMI deal must be met with a very powerful coach. And Mark is low-mid, he struggles recruiting anyway, and the JMI deal makes it easy to say no. Calipari wouldn’t struggle to recruit with JMI; he had them signed. It’s mainly a Mark issue.
I don’t think we can keep up, Mark is going to have to overpay for these players. Maybe he signs 1 or 2 at some point, but I don’t think he can keep it going consistently.

UK doesn’t have a recruiting problem. UK doesn’t have a JMI problem.
UK has a Pope problem.
Is JMI going to have say on who the next coach is? They seem to be a big part of UK athletics now.
I do think JMI is an issue that shouldn’t have been signed. Hell you can see Mitch’s anger come out when he was asked about it. However, explain how the recruits were coming with Calipari even given the the NIL. Acuff and company would still be here.
I was sitting here thinking hell our head coach is from the west coast and we’ve had a lot of west coast players.

JMI IS an issue, its not the only one but to say it isn't just because you despise Pope is silly. Pope or Barnhart, depending on who actually makes this call should have hired a GM 2 years ago. One wonders if the JMI deal would have even been signed had a GM been in place.

Asked it to note similarities in writting style, grammar errors, and spelling mistakes. I then added multiple Anon posts (a ton actually). Then I asked it to compare Nitros style to the Anons. The guy has at least 2 other accounts.[/USER]

Blaming Pope issues on not having a gm or JMI is silly. Cal doesn't have a real GM and he seems fine. He has 3 McDonalds AA next year to our none.
How much if a dream come true would this be.
I haven’t heard of the $22 million being a budget, but rather what was actually spent.
The issue with that number is that nobody knows if it is accurate and was likely originated from a report released about operating expenditures for the 24-25 season, not 2026 NIL amounts.
Not a single person or publication I have seen throwing that number around has any sort of source tied to it. Not one.
