You know I keep hearing here about how they shooting the 3.

They shot 34.9% on the season. That's slightly better than avg. That's 130th in the NCAAs.

They TAKE a lot of threes. But it's not like they are some shooting power here lmao.

If you want to be concerned about something it's that:

1) They are 19th in offensive rebounding %. Flashbacks to UF games are haunting me thinking about this
2) They force turnovers on defense (22nd overall). And our players (looks at Oweh) tends to do dumb **** like drive into the lane recklessly.

THAT is exactly what I’m worried about. That’s our two biggest weaknesses. Dunno man. Don’t uh…..don’t have a good feeling about this one. And every time I’ve had ilike this, something crappy happens to us.

But.......at the same rate........I have to tell myself ok..........that's what they did this season ..........that's their strengths and they are still behind us.

So yeah maybe they outrebound us or force a bunch of turnovers......but they are also not particularly good on defense and maybe we capitalize there

For example
As good as they are on the offensive boards, they aren't defensively. They rank 272nd. So ......they don't gain much difference there. Also they hardly ever get to the line and at the same time foul quite a bit on defense. So a game where if we drive the ball to the hoop, we oculd have a massive advantage in free throws.

I actually think this is a decent draw for UK. Very manageable up until the Elite 8 and if somehow Michigan gets knocked off prior to that point who knows what could happen...

@Monday Nitro 👀
Mark Pope cant get that lucky. I hope we all owe him a apology in a few week as we are in the E8. Reality is we are going home by Sunday night next weekend and the off season talk can begin.
Does our SEC toughness win us a few games and players step up? I want to believe because we are UK and that cake walk to final 4s are never been so far away it seems.

No game against a 2 is easy however Iowa st is the one you'd most want to play I think. Houston UConn and Purdue coaching and talent would make us look stupid. ISU we might have a shot to upset they've choked a lot in the past
Houston and Iowa St are very similar

I was watching that St Mary's game and thought I would snipe myself a live bet on St Mary's w/ +500-ish odds. EZ money right? Wrong - Santa Clara held on and I was the idiot. They gained my respect after that game.

Still think we beat them in a close game. That's it for us this year though, IMO.
We're only a -2.5 fav right now.

An E8 doesn’t mean we owe him an apology or anything else. That just means he caught lightning in a bottle. Don’t lose 12-15 games a yr as the head coach at UK. Start there.

The bigger concern for me on their offensive rebounding is this, do they get away with pushing in the back like Florida does?

Houston is more talented and more physical. Houston goes to final 4's. Iowa State seems to always find a way to crap out early.

Iowa State will probably beat us. But there's a chance to steal that one. We're not keeping it within 15 of Houston.
IDGAF if “Houston goes to final fours”. This years version of both teams (what we are taking about, and what actually matters) are extremely similar. Watch them play. Look at the metrics. Just not much difference. What Houston has done in past seasons makes zero difference.

Without a doubt, it’ll be a home game for UK even against Iowa State.

The benefit of not having Calipari? They didn’t screw us in location.

He was starting to get some fair regions later in his tenure. If anything i think this is the NCAA giving us a favorable region for a team it knows isnt going anywhere lol.

Also, no matter the region, 3 of the 4 teams will be rooting against us. Its nice that game 1 is in our backyard more or less, and Santa Clara isnt gonna travel far, but fans of the other 2 teams will still root against us.

Santa Clara hustles and shoots the three well. I love the Cats but, am not convinced that the guys are motivated to win a championship when there is so much money already secured in their bank accounts. Call me cynical, but this team’s inconsistent play and spotty coaching does not inspire much confidence in their ability to make it past the first game🙁….

ISU beat Houston and Purdue

You are looking at names of teams not the actual team

I think it's a pretty bad draw myself. Going by the type of teams we struggle against. Tennessee would be out for blood. Virginia is definitely not a team we want to play right now either.
Iowa st is really good, but they are great at home. I've seen them look average on the road.
Santa Clara is red hot and will not be scared

Santa Clara is beatable, have to play our best game against Iwa State. I actually think 2nd round is a much tougher matchup than 3rd. Virginia is a pretty good matchup for us. Michigan would bury us if we ever got there.

You don’t know ball. Otz is a phenomenal coach and someone who should be the next UK coach if the likes of Tommy Lloyd and Dusty May turn us down (they will).
