Well, our quarterfinal opponent is decided, and it will be Virginia Tech. They Are 23-8 on the season. They defeated Georgia Tech earlier this evening, overcoming a lousy first quarter where they trailed 7-17.

Their lineup is basically the same as the one we played up in Blacksburg, three weeks ago. Their starters were Leila Wells, Mac Nelson, Carys Baker, Carleigh Wenzel, and Kilah Freelon. That game went to overtime with UNC winning 66-63. Those same five started against GT with Wenzel having 15 points and Nelson 14. VT shot 36.2% overall and 31.8% from three.

There does not seem to be any factor for this game that would be overlooked by either coach. In the game up in Blacksburg VT used 10 players; they used nine against GT.

People are probably sick of the constant commenting that this is a critical game for UNC. This was said about the last VT game, and for Virginia, and for dook. It was correct for all those games, as UNC was battling for a double-bye in the ACCT, which was achieved. Now, they are battling for a decent NCAA seed and hopefully a seed that will allow them to host at Carmichael. A win vs. Virginia Tech would boost those chances, and a win in the semi-finals would make that pretty much a certainty.

On the other hand, a first game loss would be a problem. Under Coch Banghart, Carolina is 3-6 in the ACCT, including four 0-1 results. Last year, however, UNC went 2-1, reaching the semis. They were rewarded by a #3 seed in the NCAA, and got to host, winning both games.

This game needs to be a win. The game is 7:30 and is covered by ACCT.

I was impressed with Va Tech after the first quarter. they are fast and athletic. Only drawback was they let Ga Tech get to the basket with little resistance. Ga Tech just couldnt finish.

They can be scary from 3. Need Nivar to lock down Wentzel.

Also, if Reniya is available, do you play her? Team is in a rhythm with Arnisalo and she is producing on offense.

No, I would like RK sit out as long as she can until she is 100% ready to go. If she does play, I would have her to come off of the bench and play sparingly. I would not want to disrupt the rhythm this team has right now with EA starting and playing.

With three games in three days you play Reniya if she is close to 100%. But as a limited reserve.

but during the last Holding Court show I was not instilled with confidence she is ready this week.

Three consecutive shots by VT where Toomey had the rebounding position and the Hokie behind her grabs the ball. Don’t know what to say other than she has to figure out how to box out and high point the rebound. She has trouble doing both for some reason.

Heels down 11-16 end of Q1. We are having trouble matching VT’s speed.

I see that the crowd is about what you should expect for an ACCT in Georgia.

Could’ve played this in a HS gym there

And the ACCWBB account is tweeting stupid propaganda about how the ND coach was thrilled with the venue.
