DT's always thanking the fans and deflects from taking credit and gives all the props to our wrestlers.

We are so lucky to have COWBOY David Taylor leading our program. COWBOY Jimmy Kennedy, COWBOY Tyler Caldwell, COWBOY Bryan Pearsall and COWBOY Kevin Ward deserve praise also.

There's something special building here and I can't wait to see what's next.

Agreed. He seems to genuinely care and has assembled a staff of folks that seem to as well. It's really cool to see that kind of energy. And all the little things - dual meet hype, social media, behind-the-scenes stuff, being there for his guys - are cool to see too. I'm continually stoked that we're the ones that get to benefit from DT's first crack at college coaching.

You heard it here first.

VHSALUM is offering odds at -500 that T&T coach at Iowa next year.

I've got $100 on they're gone.
I’ll back vhs on this one. Unless they go get Schwab, which I honestly do NOT want, who are they going to snatch?

As bad as the optics are for TnT, they are missing a bunch of points from dismissal and injury. I think they’ve earned the ability to have the discussion on succession.

...With confusion in the ranks of loyalty, it is hard to retain/regain cadence.......the sport needs more than just Oklahoma State and PSU to be competitive for viewership and revenues...

EW on schwab. Seriously. Absolutely not.

Great man, but he has no business as the head of a what needs to a flagpole program. Great dual teams, TURRIBLE March performances.

It's still PSU at the top and then everybody else below for the foreseeable future. I won't put the cart before the horse and assume OSU will be on their level until we prove it consistently. It may be another team that dethrones them. Nebraska came out of nowhere last year to take 2nd. Iowa State reloaded this year. VA Tech is loading up next year. Iowa has studs coming in the year after next. Ohio State is doing well this year. Yes the pieces in place for us to do it which is exciting but unless we do it, we ain't done it.

It is funny looking back at thinking we are going to get Cael 2.0 when hiring DT (personality wise). DT is definitely taking a different approach than Cael and is trying to make OSU something different than PSU.
Agreed. Cael brought the fun to his athletes. DT is bringing the fun to his athletes and the fans - OSU fans and college wrestling fans in general with pushing National Duals. I dig it. College wrestling is awesome and deserves more spotlight.

We can disagree. I think Schwab does a wonderful job with what he’s got to work with.

They were razor close to winning the Big Xii last year.

You're right that we're going to disagree. But we don't need a lesser version of Brands at the job.

He already, or someone brought up Roby and the VaTech deal. Which dang, that’s kinda scary.

History could repeat…
Would be interesting if he came and took his recruits like Brands. I think the AD has to call DT and at least explore. The don't have a lot of great options, but I am guessing Metcalf. Completely an outsider with no information, but my guess.

Let’s not start that…I have a hard time sleeping anyway.

Do not underestimate how intelligent David Taylor is. He seems to have mastered how to talk to kids and get them excited to work their butts off. He has modified the training. I knew he was a great wrestler, but he observed what Cael did great and what he thought he could do better at. The guys you mention above are great wrestlers, but do they have what it takes to run a program. The diamond in the rough could be Neil Erisman. He has brought a grossly underfunded program that has to travel a bunch to compete to a fairly high level. Not competing for national championships, but very competitive and kids like him.

Yes.

And yuck to Erisman. An absolutely amazing coach, but not for/as the head coach of Iowa. Our next coach has to have a draw. Period. He has to have a vision that allows him to bring in recruits and donors.

Anybody with half a brain can bring in fans and donors at Iowa. Iowa has an amazing following with memories of greatness not that long ago. David Taylor has been special in what he is building here and I attribute most of that to his intelligence.

I didn't say anything about fans. I said donors and RECRUITS. And the reason we need someone with a name to rally donors is the administration has been loathe to allow the HWC to operate the way it truly needs to with regards to donations.

While DT is owed ALL the success attained - he ain't here without the budgetary boost from Richison. I'm acknowledging that Iowa is going to have to compete in that realm. And it likely won't be 1 donor, but it will have to be MANY.

Richison got David here, but there are a few donors that are covering the NIL and new facility construction. Richison did an amazing job of recognizing the talent of David Taylor, but we have many medium sized donors that are covering most things in the program. He told David Taylor that he will not fund it all and David is great at managing it all. I am sure Iowa has many 100 million dollar + net worth folks that can move the needle. Your problem is not money it is keeping great talent engaged through the season like we were years ago. Iowa is a much wealthier university than we are. You are just as focused on wrestling.

No lies told.

While money won’t be the sole reason for success, it’s the only way to win chips with any consistency or to come even close to challenging PSU. And I mean doing it the right way (RTC)

Iowa as a university doesn’t really want money not going to the university. Something as simple as the HWC cannot have a booth at Iowa events.

so it’s not just someone with “half a brain” that will be able to put us in contention.

For instance, someone mentioned Erisman. ABSOLUTELY NOT. We’ll never compete for team titles with a “permissive “ culture.

So why not Metcalf? Only one in that group with coaching experience and an Iowa alum. I have no information, but seems like he could be a decent choice and more coaching experience than all a some international success.
