*****Illinois vs Iowa Game Thread*****

[The Big Z]

Fire Jensen! Coaching malpractice!

[AFM22]

Iowa won IN SPITE OF Jensen, not BECAUSE OF the HC.

Give it a rest dick nose

[QChawks]

This is a classic trap game after the emotional game vs mich.
Iowa 74 Illini 69.

well done Sir

[LetsGoHawks83]

Huge win. Still mad about Ava riding the pine, though.

And refusing to foul, in favor of letting Illinois shot more 3s. They didn't miss a single 3 all 2nd half.

Great fight by the ladies though. Overcoming great shooting

The ones in were performing and I get it on D as well. Zero issues and they won because of all who contributed.

Coaching malpractice

It's truly mystifying she doesn't understand game strategy?

[EvilMonkeyInTheCloset]

WHY is Iowa not fouling??????

Because F*** Wisconsin, that's why!

[Phat Stax]

I still think Zach Selwyn should have won Dream Job, but Mike Hall and Dave Revsine will always be my OG BTN Buddies.

[Jonesy5960]

I love this team. I think Jan has them playing great, but man she makes some odd decisions.

[AFM22]

IN HEAVEN THERE IS NO BEER

[Jonesy5960]

Iowa won IN SPITE OF Jensen, not BECAUSE OF the HC.

The team they have AND the way they are playing is BECAUSE OF Jan Jensen. Let that sink in for a minute.

[LetsGoHawks83]

Great job seniors.

Although they'll have 2 more NCAA games at home

[Herky4prez]

Illinois hit 9 threes in a row and Iowa still won. Illinois will never ever play that good again. For Iowa to still win makes me think they might be better than we think they are.

[longliveCS40]

Correlation does not equal causation. I'm overjoyed they won but Jan made it harder on them with Ava on the bench. You keep your hot hand in the game ESPECIALLY when she's your best player anyway.

That was infuriating.

Houston was hot as well. Picking Nits here I get your thoughts but no issues with me.

[Gonzo_Bloor]

Team that shoots 36% from 3 on the season comes in and shoots 58% from 3 tonight. Whew. F*ck them. Great heart and fight by our team, awesome job.

[Anon1750875978]

Heiden only played 23 minutes tonite and scored 28 points.

WTF...Jensen????

[joelbc1]

I hope a few of the posters here who were lambasting the (offensive) play of Ms. Feurbach a game or two ago, takes time to think twice about why she is on the floor as much as she is.
Maybe even apologize?
Go Gawks!

[WDSMHawk]

Gritty win, Iowa lost games like this last year.

I think it was actually 10 or 11.

They were really good at sucking defenders into the lane and sneaking out to the perimeter. Honestly kind of solid coaching on Jan to sit Ava to get a little more speed on the permiter in the last 5 min.

I question some in game decisions, but you are 100% correct.

Year two and this is Jan's team. They are having a really good season. Give her credit

[AFM22]

I think it was actually 10 or 11.

They hit that many total, but hit 9 straight to end the game

Fire Jensen! Coaching malpractice!

You're finally seeing what most of us have seen all year???
Your best player only plays 23 minutes and wasn't in foul trouble.
Just some inexplicable decisions tonite...again.

[longliveCS40]

Houston is going to be a great player. I could see her being better than Stuelke by her senior year.

Supports my thoughts above, correct.

WTF...Jensen????

You are a loser.

[IA79Cam]

Iowa won tonight against a 19-9 illinois team and the negativity in this thread is hilarious

She should be on the floor anytime Ava or Hannah are on the bench.

Absolutely FEARLESS at the end of the game.

No hesitation in that late 15 ft jumper

[Hawkfan_08*]

I love this team. I think Jan has them playing great, but man she makes some odd decisions.

Jan is a great coach and her work with post players is amazing. Why any post would want to go anywhere else is beyond me. She made the adjustment we all wanted in going to zone and Illinois killed it.

I'm certainly not calling for her job. I'm not saying she's a bad coach. I'm happy to have her but...

I'm willing to be hired for free to be a clock management and personnel coach for Kirk Ferentz and Jan Jensen. Having Ava sit for almost the last 4 minutes is crazy. Even if we gave up a 2, Ava is a WALKING BUCKET. They could not stop her tonight, at all. The fouling just blows me away. Simple strategy and we gave up a 3 from not doing it.

[QChawks]

Iowa just beat a team that went 11/19 from three, while the hawks went 2/7

unbelievable

That was nails.

It's very odd for sure.

[WDSMHawk]

Had to follow on the gamecast but it looks like Jan drew up a beautiful ATO play late. Big 2 big pick and roll is sexy

[Jonesy5960]

You're finally seeing what most of us have seen all year???

Just some inexplicable decisions tonite... and yet they won again to go 23-5 and remain in second place in the Big10 and in line for a 2 seed in the NCAA tournament. She might win Coach of the Year.

FIFY..

Go Gawks!

And she hit our only two 3-balls tonight. Her defense is a very important reason for our success this year.

[Wobmam Rulez!]

So, what did I miss? Who won?

[o_Terrykohawk]

Correlation does not equal causation. I'm overjoyed they won but Jan made it harder on them with Ava on the bench. You keep your hot hand in the game ESPECIALLY when she's your best player anyway.

Offense/defense move. Illinois’ bigs can step out and shoot 3’s. Journey and Hannah were better choices defensively you would assume. Last couple minutes Jan did straight switches. Ava in on offense, then steps out and Journey back in on D. Many coaches do that. Tonight it worked. Maybe not as well as Jan wanted but it worked. Iowa escaped a red hot Illinois team

You are truly clueless.
