I'm taking a simplistic approach, if the band was well known and had an iconic song/lyric I'm very familiar with, I give them the vote.

Boston No
Kansas "All we are is dust in the wind..." yes
Sweet No
Grand Funk Railroad "I'm getting closer to my home....." yes
Styx No
Three Dog Night "One is the loneliest number......" Yes
REO Speedwagon No
Supertramp No

I think everybody gets in eventually. And by everybody, I don’t mean just these bands listed. But I absolutely hate Styx and REO Speedwagon.
The HOF’s problem is that they need the annual inductee publicity. There simply aren’t enough truly great bands for that so they wind up enshrining a bunch of very good/good bands.

Boston did the same song with 10 different titles …
I think a lot of band's songs all sound the same sometimes. CCR is one that comes to mind - to me, anyway. Kansas, with Dust in the Wind an exception is another. Styx was diverse. You still know it's Styx, but they had different sounds and approaches to songs. GFR was diverse. They covered freakin' Locomotion and it was probably their biggest hit, which makes no sense.

Another Band I think belongs - above Boston and REO probably is The Little River Band. And while we're down under, The Seekers should be in as well.

The CCR thing is because of John Fogerty, his voice is so distinctive that many songs sound similar. I am a CCR fan though.
Another band that I think follows that is Pearl Jam because of Eddie Vedder. It's a common problem when you have one front man with a very distinctive voice.

Here's another usless opinion. I would put ELP and Jethro Tull in over every band on that list. Of the bands listed, Supertramp gets the nod.
ELP was one I left out. I assumed Tull was in. That's how bad the hall is.

What? I didn’t know that ELP or Tull wasn’t in the RRHOF🤪

Just put some sheryl crow on and relax. If that's even possible with her.

THAT'S my problem. SHE is my benchmark now - and always will be. No one here with a straight face can say that SHE is better than ANY band I listed in the OP. No one.

I saw Boston when they toured for their first album. They played the whole thing, same sequence of songs on the album. Honestly, they were pretty good. The crowd loved it and wanted more so for an encore they played a couple songs over again. That’s all they had!

Same concert had Styx. Their lead guitarist was so pretentious prancing around on his toes. I thought this is the gayest band ever, not that there is anything wrong with that.

You are the one who that has the hardon for Sherly not me. But yes I would listen to anything from her before America and Bread (except for Horse with no Name) and well frankly she gets points for not doing that godawful Baby I'ma Want you. Please.
Most of America's great songs were produced by George Martin. As far as Bread goes, it's sort of hard to pick on David Gates. His voice was butter. Guitar Man showed what they could do if they wanted to.

I'll also point out that Sheryl isn't fit to lick Karen Carpenter's boot vocally, imo, and Richard Carpenter arranged songs like no one's business - yet they aren't in the rrhof.

The problem is people decide who they want in based on whether they like that group or artist. There has to be some consistent criteria to get in, like tenure and yes, album sales. A band that tons of people liked, followed, and bought their albums (like Styx) should be in before some little known band that might be considered chic to like. Many of the groups/artists in the HOF right now do not have the body of work to justify being in there.

Amen. Record sales mean more than perceived "influence".

Kansas
Sweet
Grand Funk Railroad
Styx
Three Dog Night
REO Speedwagon
Supertramp

Me - Yes to all of these.
Absolute YES to all of the above (with the possible exception of Sweet).

The RRHOF has become a DEI joke...it no longer resembles true R&R, despite its' title. I would never pay $0.01 for a ticket to that mistake near the lake.

Do Emerson, Lake and Palmer deserve to be in above the likes of N.W.A. and Grandmaster Flash? Yes, because this isn't the Hip Hop Hall of Fame.

She is better than any band listed. But, that is certainly a subjective take and applicable to every fan of music Responding here.

I'm sorry, but you have to live in a different world to put Sheryl Crow above Supertramp or Grand Funk or Three Dog Night. A really different world. She didn't even have a noteworthy band. What exactly did she do? Play a few chords on an acoustic guitar and sing some forgettable songs?

Ashley Campbell is better than she is - both on a guitar/banjo and vocally truth be told.

I like the early Gary Richrath led REO more than the later Kevin Cronin pop version. The later version did sell a lot more records but it might as well have been a totally different group. Still, how many bands had their longevity and an album that sold over 10 million units? Considering some of the questionable individuals and bands that are in the RRHOF, they should be a lock.

Maybe with Three Dog Night
For me, definitely Grand Funk Railroad. When We're An American Band was first released, it sounded like a whole new generation of rock n roll just started.

I think a lot of people must only know Supertramp for their popular songs and are not familiar with some of their incredible, but less "airplay" worthy work. Even in the Quietest Moments is a masterpiece. Crisis, what Crisis? and Crime of the Century are great too. True, they do have "a sound" and I'm sure it isn't for everyone, but I think they were elite talents.

Agreed, although I give 3 Dog Night the nod just for Eli's Coming.

Some of these guys need to move the dial past the Yacht Rock Station. :ROFLMAO:
we went to the Yacht Rock Concert Revue in Bend Oregon last summer. What a blast! Took Uber, got hammered, giggled, danced, sang, chilled. May have to do it again this summer which will be their 19 th year touring. Who knew!! Lawn Tickets with chair were cheap, beers, wine and cocktails, not so much!
