If performance matters, then yah, she has it locked down. Deal has had a couple good moments/games, but not lately. It's not even close. Stremlow is better in every phase of the game, and by a lot. She's earned it.
They blew the whistle, but was it actually a foul? I'm not so sure.

Deal could make a big leap next season. But for now, her minutes need to be limited.
In no way is Stremlow a post player. She is a very creative guard with excellent passing skills.

I 100% agree with you about Heiden. Very advanced post moves for a young player.

I think she'll be much better next year. Outside of a couple of games in which she showed her potential, she's played like an overmatched freshman like a lot of first year players.

So you watched the game and thought she didn't play well and then looked at the box score and thought she did? Lol. She was very good today.
Yes, you were. With that said she's had much better games. That's how good she's been. That steal and fast break basket with CCW was a thing of beauty.
I have the opposite take. Shooting 3's against 3 defenders with no rebound opportunity on a fast break is a freshman mistake. She simply can't take that shot. She has to learn that these things hurt the team along with dribbling directly into traffic. She has talent, but she's not playing well and making bad decisions. The game is moving too fast for her again. She needs to let the game come to her instead of forcing things. Hopefully she figures it out so she can contribute going forward.

I joined the forum as I lover the Hawkeyes ladies program, and now the men with Ben, and also because I really like to know what’s going on with recruiting. I’ve enjoyed a lot of the postings but I’m amazed at how many apparently negative and unhappy people “support” the program. We had a good win today and we see more complaining than we do positives. We had a great first half and for real basketball followers it was pretty certain Nebraska would make a run. Basketball is a game of runs. They did and “over her head” Jan made the move of the game calling a time out that drastically changed the momentum back in the Hawkeyes favor. My belief is in celebrating, not trashing coaches and players after the fact. I always remind my self “basketball is not a game of perfect”. I love our team, warts and all.
Recruiting highly rated players and then losing them to the portal is not a recipe for success.

Don’t sell out freshmen this quick. I submit a few recent freshmen nominees. Beth Doolittle, only 2 Big offers and looked 2 too many at years end. Made all Big before graduation. Monica funky shot, weak hands if and when she got in. Not only all Big but big factor in final 4 run. Kate Martin, did not play much as freshman. Started to emerge second half of sophmore season. Future final four and W player. The game is a huge jump for most. Speed, strength and mentally tough. Some freaks can do it, most need time and experience
