I’m not knocking Jon, but I’m not a fan of the narrative where “Jon has done so much already and Hubert is on the hot seat or something.” Feel like I see a decent amount of that out there, and I always just have to shake my head at it.

Duke doesn't have students punching opposing fanbases' staffers in the throats or pushing the families of coaches. So **** off with that weak-*** comparison. If that was flipped and Duke had only one foul called against them, on top of getting away with storming the court with time still on the clock and no technical foul called, which is the rule, the internet and ESPN would be losing their minds right now.

But you are knocking Jon down by saying Davis which has had two teams not qualify for the NCAA Tournament is equal to a record setting coach to start his career and been to a Sweet Sixteen, Elite Eight and Final 4 in his first four years. It’s not even comparable. Also a part of coaching is recruiting which Jon is the best, #1 classes the last three years. Davis is not even in the same stratosphere.

For 30 years UNC and Duke fans had that expectation. Duke still does. UNC is staring at a 4 - 6 seed with a generational player who without him we probably don’t make the tournament. Our recruiting for next year is dependent on a last second commitment and even if that does go our way we still have glaring holes to fill. This is not UNC bball that. Meanwhile, Duke has hardly missed a beat.
No. Transfer portal has changed things. Roster construction is pretty wild and random now. You guys were just a legit 1 seed two years ago. And now this year your team is definitely trending in the right direction. Duke hasn’t been on some “all-time run” or something lately. Not at all.
We've got to get older players but it's not going to happen because of our recruiting and the transfers week most likely wanted playing time.
No idea. Most fans in favor of a change want the best person possible, regardless of ties to the program. If the people making that decision were the ones making football hires it won’t be anyone under 70 years old so Boeheim or Larry Brown or Gene Keady’s ghost. It’s a top 5 job but that doesn’t mean we can just snap our fingers and get the next Roy.
I would swap team talent and coach right now. Plus roster next year. If you can’t say the same then you know you are in a better position. It’s hard to win a championship but at least you have a team that can contend. We lost to SMU, cal, and the tree farm. We will likely drop at least 2 more regular season games if not 3. We aren’t going 3 - 0 vs L’ville, Miami, and Duke, and still have to play state and Clemson. You might lose 1 more game but not likely. As I said, I do think Wilson is best player and that isnt a knock on boozer as I think he is fantastic. But team wise, yes we won tonight but no UNC fan thinks UNC is a better team. We can play well at times, but can’t consistently so it’s always hope to win not expect to win.
You keep pumping up this Duke team, but look at them compared to like an Arizona or Michigan. And we aren’t even necessarily the best team in the ACC at all, hate to say it.
I haven’t posted anything offensive. Some people are mature enough to discuss the game rationally and some aren’t. If Duke wins in Durham and you came to IC to discuss you would get calls to be banned but not from me. Even if you were talking crap. We are lucky enough to be fans of the best rivalry in sports. It’s kind of sad fans can’t discuss with each other and give the other crap without being banned. I wish they would have a page for crap talking as long as it didn’t get personal.
9 - 2 in quad 1 games and 21 or 22 - 2 overall. Give me a break. Tell me about it when you lose to Cal or have 3 teams in a row shoot better than 50% from 3. There is a reason Sarr was 4 of 4 from 3.
This isn’t a very good shooting Duke team from 3 or the free throw line. And there’s no Knueppel like Flagg had. Yeah we’ve had a good won/loss record so far this year. But now it’s approaching March and things get real. Duke sure didn’t do anything tonight to make me a big time believer in this team.
Guards need to step up. Foster played okay but 9 points against this UNC backcourt? Plus Evans has been a very streaky shooter. Sarr was good, but who knows what he will do next game. Our frontcourt is elite no doubt.
Duke won’t play another game in that type of environment either. Hard for freshmen to do given the pressure of the rivalry. I’d expect UNC’s freshmen and transfers to struggle in Durham.
Man you have been throwing some out there tonight. Scheyer and Davis the same level coach, now Duke is not the best team in ACC. Man you better sleep this one off.
NCAA Tourney has all the pressure in the world and is an extremely difficult environment.
Clemson, State and UNC, in no particular order, will have something to say about that.
lol, Duke will be given the easiest bracket (you know a unc fan is going to say that). Plus, in most tournament games Duke has at least half the crowd on its side. Won’t be like tonight where 21,000 + hate you.
Duke lost two games to Top 15 teams on the road or neutral on the last possession and now they are a middle level ACC team. Who has Clemson or State played that is even respectable that you feel they are so dominant? What is UNC quad 1 record, does it compare with what Duke has gone thru? Don’t think so. Again Duke lost to Tech on last shot and UNC on the last shot. This Duke team is still very good and a contender. Right now a 1 seed.
They have the second best quad 1 wins out of every other school. They have beaten a ton of very good schools this season. If they aren’t a contender then only Arizona or Michigan is. I would put Duke right up there with UCONN as a contender. Look at every metric and Duke is Top 5 but yours.
All great points. Just don’t have a good feeling about this team because of the shooting and offense in general. And as always we are too damn young.
