IOWA could be 19-5 after the next 7 games. Only 1 "bad" loss so far

We are going to finish 23-8. That is my prediction.

We need at least 5 of those. We'll be favored in 3, and we need to find a way to win 2 of those road games. Oregon is 8-9 and Maryland is 7-10, so obviously those would be the games we could, not saying should, win. Honestly Washington is certainly a winnable game but such a long trip to the Pacific NW I'd take 1 of those games. That would put us at 7-6 but then we still have a really tough schedule after that. Nebraska twice, still undefeated, Purdue and Michigan. At some point we are going to need at least 1 or even 2 somewhat signature wins.

How do we do over our next 14 games, in your opinion?
My opinion is irrelevant on this matter, but the team already has 5 losses and expecting them to end up losing only 3 more out of 14 is unrealistic IMO. They'll be dogs against Michigan, Purdue. Wisconsin, Indiana and Nebraska on the road. Given Iowa's 0-5 road record, the only locks are probably Rutgers and NW at home. They'll also be favorites in the others, but not prohibitively so.

@ Nebraska
Michigan

and one of

@ wisconsin
Ohio state
Purdue

its gonna be interesting; if the team hadn't gotten sick, we'd be in much better shape & probably have a couple more wins.

and no one expected us to be up 9 in the 2nd half at Purdue.

Probably Minnesota. Not sure who else we would have beaten, healthy or not.

If the Hawks are over the flu and nobody important suffers any sort of major injury, I could see this team going on a big run. Starting Saturday.

Hawks really need to win at least 5 of the next 7, because the last 7 will be about as tough as can get.

But I will temper my expectations, and hope they can do just enough to earn a bid to the NCAAT as well as avoid having to start off in Dayton.

Crucial games all…I can see 6-1 and I can see 1-6. I see UI struggling on the road unless they clean it up quickly.
I thought in November it would take til mid-January to see what this team was like…. Something close to .500 conference is realistic, I believe. Far from a “failure” many here are declaring. (My humble opinion.)

The biggest thing the Hawks need to learn to do is closing out games, as well as finishing comebacks against inferior teams.

Yeah, PU got ultra hot - along with some unquestionable home cooking - but you can't lose by more than a basket in a game where you're up 9, with all the momentum at the time, around the 12-minute media timeout in the 2nd half.

Even sick with the flu, the Hawks could have went 2-1 in the last 3, if not even undefeated.

We’ve lost to 1 inferior team all season.

And that team has a really solid coach…. He’s the guy that really got Drake back into a winning way several years ago. I really think Medved might make Minnesota a B10 bb power. I think he’s that good. (He was “that good” his year at Drake.)

He was 500 at Drake but considering how bad Drake had been he did a good job. But I do think he’s a solid coach.
