Kinda random, but found it pretty funny that you kept saying Knox is a better prospect bc he beaten Basset before..

• At the 2021 Super 32 Challenge (106 lbs), Anthony Knox defeated Bo Bassett by a 10‑4 decision.

📌 However: I didn’t realize that Basset also has beaten Knox in the more recent matchup.. just found it comical how you never mentioned this fact once and kept harping on the point that Knox beat Basset only lol..

Knox and Bassett also met at Super 32 in 2022 (113 lbs), where Bo Bassett won that matchup in the finals

I mean I hope Knox has the better career now obviously but just goes to show that with your logic(emotional and biased) you just see and believe what you want to see.
What your leaving out is basset was in a bracket with him 3 months later and basset lost to elijah cortez and knox beat elijah, Anthony and Bo have been in 5 brackets together Anthony Out placed him 4 times, THE LAST one being the last time they were in same bracket where bo lost to elijah and Anthony smashed him cant blame Anthony that bo lost looks like ant would of beat him that day too that was US Open U17 that was last where Anthony out placed him .Anthony did better SUPER 32 2021 FARGO 2021 FARGO 2022 AND USOPEN 2023 basset out placed ANTHONY once that was SUPER 32 2022. HEAD TO HEAD THEY ARE 1-1 IN SAME BRACKET ANTHONY IS 4-1. cant blame anthony if bo loses before he faces him

I’m not leaving it out on purpose.. I had no idea Basset ever even beaten Knox until this morning.. I just found it funny SCNJ kept saying facts are Knox beat Basset without ever mentioning the more recent reverse.

Also, I don’t place freestyle results meaning it will transition to college as much as some others do. I look for folkstyle results mainly and most weight goes on the most recent results for me. Yeah that’s cool Knox outplaced Basset in three freestyle tournies from years ago and that Cortez thing.. didn’t look into it that deep..

I hope Knox has the better career.. but objectively speaking, the way Basset manhandled Joy and Tyus THIS YEAR in folkstyle has me believing Basset would be in the finals this year against SVN and Basset has a gas tank and pace if not better ,on par, with SVN.

The main data point I saw from Knox this year was he lost a close match to Bouzakis. So does this mean he can beat LL, Robinson, etc ? Is he a guaranteed finalist every year??? Idk but I sure damn hope so especially at 7 figures.

Kind of wonder if Grey is starting to destroy the Cornell program. I can't stand Rob Koll , but the bottom line is when he was there , they were top shelf. I also saw that Knox is taking a gap year. Hope we have a solid contract in place with him. I personally don't like this whole situation , but i'm sure the RU legal staff and athletic department have it under control.

I get that ur a huge Knox fan and hoping he’s a multi time champ but slow down on the freestyle results and try to go on most recent results please.

Joy is currently the #2 ranked wrestler in division 1 at his weight so no need to bring past hs credentials into this.. we get it Bouzakis is the more accomplished high school wrestler..and rn he’s ranked anywhere from #3-5 at 125 pounds so it’s not a bad loss.. but majoring the #2 guy at ur weight says more about if u can be a national finalist that year then losing to the #3 guy.
I hope that makes sense.

I know Knox beat Seidel in folkstyle at whos #1. If the wins over Desmond and LL were recent and in folk that’s even better. I’m not doubting Knox potential. Objectively speaking, I just thought Basset had higher upside to be a 4x finalist based on this years results in folkstyle.

thats fair,
knox beat seidel at super 32 too. knox also won super 32 3 times and went 3 years without losing a folkstyle match till the bousakis match kids legit and chased everyone down not scared of anyone from what i hear the big issue was knox wanted to chase onno at the farrell and cornell wouldnt let him then it started to boil over.

Then that is an elite win you would expect out of both top 3 p4p recruits. I looked it up and it was in 2021 at 106IBs at who’s number 1. Crazy to think that’s nearly 5 years ago but no doubt Knox is an elite prospect.. I hope he’s a multiple time finalist like how Suriano was.

Can’t believe all this back and forth worrying about resumes and who beat who in middle school and HS 5 yrs ago.

Knox is a stud. At this point it’s up to him and his coaches how far he goes moving forward.

Grey runs a great program and the fact that he can recruit as well as he does without a NIL checkbook speaks volumes. Plus, he’s got the whole Finger Lakes angle which is brilliant. Hate to say it but if I was a top wrestler and cared about an Ivy League education I’d be in Ithaca without a doubt.

You didn’t mention it either.

And please stop putting words in my mouth. You seem to think you know the root of all my opinions. Knox has placed higher in almost every tournament the two have entered together.

Your obsession with my take on Knox/Bassett is wild. You’re acting like I’m taking the side of a mediocre recruit. They’re both elite prospects. They’ll both be multi-AAs and I think both will be national champs. I’d love to have both, but the reason I weighed in in the first place is because it’s a moot point. One was a realistic option, one was not.

To be fair, he inherited a solid program. It helps to be in Ivy as well. But yeah he's done great at recruiting NJ.

I hear you but towards the end of Koll’s time it was Grey running the program and doing the heavy lifting. That’s one of the reasons the program didn’t skip a beat.

Valid points right there. Maybe just some coincidendal injuries of the sport? Do you have knowledge of him running them into the ground? Also Yanni is a 4x champ so he didn't destroy anything there. Post college, Yanni could put his big boy pants on and call his shots more. The overall toll of what he gone through probably has beaten his body to shvt.

What makes you think that Cornell doesn't have an NIL budget to pay wrestlers?

Because I know wrestlers that are there ….and also wrestlers that are not for the reason there is no real NIL payday…and because the Ivy rules make it much more difficult and prohibit pay-to-play. Whatever money the Cornell wrestlers get (such as working camps) is peanuts and not the reason kids go there.

Zero athletic scholarships at the Ivies. And the collectives are largely a joke. Some Ivies like Penn are starting to get more aggressive with testing the boundaries of NIL under the Ivy rules. And the financial aid packages are black and white. Either you meet the threshold for aid or you don’t.
