Their new coach won 2 FCS National Championships, correct? I thought that might give him some credibility, where players might take their time & not jump ship....

So much for that thought!
He didn't have the charisma to pull it off. I wonder how he is feeling about his move from from WSU. Does he have any charisma to poach his WSU team like Cignetti did (and our basketball coach).

In order to try and save face, I'm sure Clone fans will say the new HC is telling some players to enter the portal.

Gotta clear space for all those studs coming with him from WSU. That WSU team that won 6 games in the regular season with one of the weakest SOS in all of college football.

Rogers has decent credentials. The mass defections says a lot about the players and the place. A lot of them will probably end up back in Ames, some because they have no better prospects and others because Rogers may win them over.

This year isu already beat us in football, basketball, wrestling, and women's basketball. I think those are the 4 biggest draws in college sports. Pointing and laughing at isu seems like an odd stance with that in mind.
Please take note that all the matchups you mentioned were home games/home dual for ISU. Big factor.

That said, it's weird how the scheduling was done to have that arrangement.

Expect to see the results flip next year, with the exception of MBB. Although Iowa kept the game very close as an 11 point underdog.

Remember Kirk's first or second year when a player was shopping around KOK's playbook to Neb. I really thought it couldn't be worse than that but this is nuclear level.

Their football program has been decimated & they'll be lucky to keep it within 2 scores in the near future.....think prime Hayden years.

We are also far better than them historically in women's bball (2 title games recently; have them ever made one??) & wrestling (finally won after 19 straight L's :ROFLMAO: ). I'll give them men's bball, but we've finally got a high-level coach & I wouldn't be surprised if Oats&Burger pulls a CMC and drops them like a bad habit for greener pastures.

So yeah......I'll keep pointing & laughing at those MooU dipsh!ts 👆🤣🤡

All the starters will find a place if they truly want to play somewhere else. Guys who do return most likely are the ones who haven’t seen or barely played last year.

That’s thing with portal. It isn’t always amount the amount lost, sometimes it’s the quality of players lost in the portal. Isu has lost so many contributors, starters and guys in 2 deeps. Though with isu quantity does come into play when you exceed 40+ players.

Really hoping this whole thing sets back their program 10 or so years. That way Iowa can re-establish themselves as the place for in-state recruits to shoot for. Especially with Lester repairing all the damage baby Brian did to the national perception of our offense, hopefully we can start winning over the guys on offense that may have considered the Clowns over us.
I hope it sets them back a hundred years

The negative thing about Iowa State going down the tubes is that Iowa won't play any competitive non-conference games and without a signature win they won't make the playoffs with anything more than 1 loss unless they make the BIG10 title game.

Iowa state isn’t on the schedule after 2027. Perfect time to kick them while down and end the series.

Big step up for the new coach. Rogers will certainly get a pay raise and it is in his contract that he is Pollard's b-tch. Matty refused to sign that.

The question has been raised earlier in this thread about how many current roster players will wind up back in Ames.
45 Portaling out so far.
Might 20 return AND make the 2026 roster? 10?

I don't think this is right. Even with 45 transfers there is no way they are down to 16. Somebody is smoking something funny, NTTAWWT.

I don't know how they arrived at that number, but maybe it's a combination of announced portal entries, graduations, and players who have not yet announced they are returning next year.

I think what actually makes this worse is that given NIL and the portal, IF a really good coach at a financially tight place like ISU was able to win 6 or 7 games after four or five years, will leave for something better. This has all the makings for a very long term bad cycle. Either that or they find a coach that is 50 plus in age that doesn’t want move and he wins 4-6 games a year. They just won’t have the money to rebuild.

Good points by the Clown fan (well, they are not forced to contribute to NIL, of course).

Now Jamie Pollard wants the fans to pay for the players that the new coach brings in?

Think scholarship players is what they meant. Throw in transfers with graduating seniors, which if it’s 24 there is your 85.
I’m too lazy to look up how many seniors Iowa State has graduating, but that number of only 16 returning players is probably pretty close. This is the last year of the limit of 85 scholarship players, it’s bumping up to 105 next year. So the good news is they can sign even more new guys.

Any guesses on what percentage of the 3k+ in the portal won't find a roster spot at all next season? I assume your current team can immediately revoke your scholly & remove you from their roster as soon as you enter the portal, correct?

Aside from maybe a dozen of them that were former starters and have good production, I doubt many of them are improving their situation.
