Hopefully. It would be a huge boon to go into the offseason with a win like that. Finally getting the monkey off of our back against ranked teams (no offense EvilMonkey). I'd hate to end, yet another season, with a loss in a bowl game. It just deflates everything when going into the offseason. But it's become all too common with us recently. Hawks need to rattle their QB early, but our DLine is awful at getting pressure, so it's concerning.
But I've been reliably told that listening to Vegas is the only logical thing to do, and they say we're a 6 point dog to Vandy.

Recent history is not our friend. Honestly, it's hard to see otherwise. But I'll be watching and rooting for our Hawkeyes, the losing streak has to end somtime. Why not the last day of 2025?

Pavia looks like Gronowski but with better WR’s. Need to keep him in the pocket and limit yards rushing.
It's going to be tough, qb is really good. If Kirk let's Lester open up the O I think we can win. If we go tortoise , as usual, I think we lose.

Pavia plays an unorthodox backyard scramble game which can create problems for defenses opening up running lanes and receivers. Contain Pavia and you win if he runs wild then.......who knows?
Hit the Heisman loser enough and maybe he just decides to sit on the bench.

I always think the hawks can win especially in this last 10 years or so of Kirk ball. 2012 and 2007 were aberations from normally really good tough teams and throw out the first 2 Kirk seasons.
That being said a really good running qb who has a good passing game is one of the worst combos against the 27-28 years of the Parkers' defenses. I think the hawks will need to score 24-28 at least
Potent offense but also a porous defense. If we have a 'spy' on Pavia and prevent him from scrambling for every third-down conversion, we should have a chance.
What I'm expecting to see: An Iowa team that competes hard but is outplayed due to Vanderbilt's athleticism / speed. We will have ourselves another moral victory.

Big ten is about to show why preseason rankings are garbage.
All 4 of Vandy’s ranked wins are against teams that turned out to not be that good. None of them are still ranked. In their games against opponents that are still ranked they mostly got clobbered. Texas played bunker ball and let them back into the game in the 4th quarter. But they were losing by 24 points entering the 4th.
I think Iowa has a pretty good chance. Vandy is a good team but I don’t see the 14th best team in the country. Our history says we will lose a close game though. I wanted Vandy because I assumed Pavia would sit out and we would be favored, but it looks like that’s not the case.

On the other hand, we will be the top rated Defense in Scoring Defense that he has seen all year. #8—14.67 points on average.
Alabama, #12—17.38 gave up just 10 points to them.
Missouri, #21—-19.42 gave up 17 points to them.

LSU, #15—-18.33 gave up 31 points to them.
The biggest difference between the first two teams and LSU?
Rushing yards. They ran wild on LSU.

Vandy's run defense is overrated. Anybody with a decent run game did just fine against them rushing.
Iowa will come out firing jumping to a 17-0 lead. Captain turtle will go full conservative, and Vandy will take a 21-17 lead into half.
Iowa regains the lead midway through the 3rd quarter 24-21 and then the defense forgets how to tackle and gives up back-to-back touchdowns and hawks fall behind 35-24.

Well, there you have it. QChawks has given us the spoiler, so we can save our time and not watch the game, even though your "clock management" for how the scoring plays out is not how it will go down, but it's the pessimism that counts, and thus is why this is how the game will ultimately end up. Because you don't actually want nor do you know how to handle having nice things, so why should I give them to someone like you?
