But why the hell did you go away from the run? Our DL and LBs are not good, and haven't been all year. This is a 4 quarter game if you stick to the run. Holgerson tries to get cute way too often and that is why the game got out of hand.

Ruhle will NOT be fired. The program does not have 50+ million to buy him out. The boosters are sick and tired of paying buyouts.

Unless the people at Ped State are out of their minds or he quits neither of which will happen my thoughts on the off season are as follows:
I am expecting heavy portal losses if my hunch that a number of underclassmen think the program is a clown show is correct.
Matt better find a legitimate DC and junk the 3-3-5 prevent defense.
Dana is likely going to leave. I actually like the guy. I hope he stays.
This staff has a whiff rate of about 50% on portal additions. A lot of NIL money was wasted on Trent, McCollough, and Key.
This staff better get a whole lot better at player development. And fast.

With an ultra small 2026 class you are not going to see much help from any Freshman.
The O line, which actually got better as the season wore on, will miss Spindler and Lutovsky.

He's very early in his career as a head coach, but I am intrigued by Brennan Marion and his Go-Go offense. Just finished his first year at FCS Sacramento State and improved their record from 3-9 last year to 7-5 this year. Hung tough with a difficult schedule that included ranked South Dakota State, Montana, and UC Davis. Offensive coordinator at UNLV in 2023 and 2024. He's 38.
Obviously not sufficient enough evidence he deserves a FBS power conference gig at this stage, but perhaps his resume will continue to grow if it becomes more obvious Rhule's not the guy to get us to where we want to be here (depending on how many more years we give him).

I can deal with losing to Ohio St, Michigan maybe an Oregon. Losing to teams like Iowa and Minn regularly is just f'ing embarrassing. You know you suck when these teams beat you.

There is no question as to which is the better program and people here arguing that they are equal are simply being obtuse. There is no doubt that Iowa is not a championship program, but they are nearly always in the top 3rd of the league. Nebraska on the other hand hasn't been close to mid tier having been mired in the bottom 3rd for the entire decade.

Iowa’s record this year really wasn’t a true indication of how good they are. If you had watched any of those 4 Iowa losses…a few key injuries really impacted them. As you can see…today’s healthy Iowa team is quite good.

They went 7-5 and didn't even play IU, OSU or Oregon. They are a lower level Big Ten team

Sure. I don’t disagree. But at the end of the day, a 7-5 season record is that of a mid program. If we played all 17 opponents every year, it’d look different. However we do not, and alas we landed at a wimpy 7-5 as a mid program this year.
