Just coming on here and saying a shoutout to East Lincoln making the 5A State Championship game in soccer and Newton Conover making to the 4A State Championship game in soccer. Now if 2 teams can make it to the State Championship games in football in this conference that would be awesome.
Newton-Conover Head Coach is Carlos Arias. He played football at Lincolnton along with his younger brothers. His nephew played hoops at both Lincolnton and Maiden.
It’s a great accomplishment for the Red Devils, but now N-C fans have a dilemma. The soccer team plays for the state title Friday at 4:30 in Greensboro. Barring OT it will take at least an hour and 45 minutes to be done and then there’s a drive of an hour and a half back to N-C. So it’s either skip the state championship game or be late for a football playoff game against your arch rival.
The NCHSAA could probably fix this by scheduling teams who aren’t still playing football in that time slot.
I guess Newton kicker has a decision to make Friday lol
