how can you be happy or unhappy about the way the search is going? As far as I know Kraft is doing the search, and he is not issuing public statements nor should he. right now it is all rumor .

We were almost guaranteed to not have made a hire before December and there’s still an alarmingly high number of people here who have been in freak out mode for a couple weeks. It’s actually pretty fascinating.

In terms of strength of schedule, I agree that PS is better positioned for the next couple of years. The schedule is extremely weak when compared to TX, LSU and FL.

That could be a rare attractive quality for the job.

However, all 3 have titles in THIS CENTURY, showing that it can happen at those programs in the modern CFB environment. PS not so much, last title happened 40-odd years ago.

And fans have shown that Paterno has a heavy unhealthy influence that does not exist elsewhere.

Without Paterno, there is no football program to discuss. So there’s that!

Agree, Hartline is probably the best recruiter (WRs) in the country, but that doesn't qualify him as the HC at a major CF power like PSU

I agree with you. A number of PSU fans will be very disappointed when it’s not Urban or Saban. Urban would never be approved by the BOT and Saban just mercilessly trashed us on gameday. Some will be disappointed it is not Elko or Kiffin, ignoring the fact they both will be in the cfb playoff. I know Gruden is tossed around by the fanbase, which is ignorant of the scandal he was involved in the NFL and like Urban would never have the votes on the BOT. You are left with coordinators like Hartline or Brady, established coaches with potential to succeed with our resources like Campbell or Diaz, or rising stars at lower level programs like Sumrall, Golesh or Chesney. I personally think it will be Campbell, Diaz or Chesney (I am coming around on him) at this point. Maybe Hartline is a possibility but I doubt he leaves his alma mater and I am wary of copying OSU. It did not work for Knowles.
