If we beat PSU and MD, then we are most likely beating Purdue. BTW- why is Purdue now a favorite in so many fan minds against us?
Have you watched them play? They are not a doormat. They come out and play hard in the first half, and then they falter in second half. Sound familiar?

I have seen bits and pieces. And yes, they are not an auto win that most thought they were...but even with our failures, we are still the better team. My point was more that our fans often see the grass greener elsewhere. And, if we are good enough to beat a PSU and MD, then we really should beat PU

I'm not a grass is greener for the other team fan. Yes, our offense is leaps and bounds better. But our special teams and defense loses games. And if Greg and Kirk don't fix the red zone offense, we may not win another game. Each game is its own entity.

Purdue is the only game I can see as possible win. Penn state even without Allar is more talented than Rutgers and Rutgers hasn’t beaten them since the Reagan administration

Because Schiano…you know that’s why.
This may be tge one time you are right. Lol

but again- I am prefacing it tgat IF we can beat PSU and Maryland, we should be able to beat Purdue. Schiano or not.
Purdue has been playing better than last year but they still are better than us at this time.

Purdue is better this year but still somewhat mistake prone so I think that can be a win. NW just went into Happy Valley and came out with a win so I don't rule that out. I don't know how good or bad PSU's back up is. They could be on a slide for all we know. Can Franklin get them to regroup. Maryland is still doing Maryland like things...September hot start that gets frittered away later.

I'm not saying we'll win them but I don't think they're out of reach if the offense can perform.

So what you are saying is, anything is possible. Sure. There’s a chance we could surprise both Oregon and OSU too.

If you were to wager, would you pick 0,1 or 2 conference wins by season end ?

I hate to be Debbie downer but a realist is always just that to some. In all probability, we will lose the rest of our BIG games. That said, I will not be upset if we can beat PSU somehow. In fact, all Greg needs to do is beat PSU this year and he gets' a pass

I still think 2-3 is realistic but that’s still not good..that’s 2-7 or 3-6 in conference.

Conference records has always been a metric I look at because the majority of your schedule is there. To do anything noteworthy or good you have to be at least decent there.

Perdie's offense is better than average, they can move the ball. As you noted however they make mistakes; and in the games I saw them vs. Illinois and Minny they drop too many catchable passes. IF their guys can hold onto passes, they will score at least 28 pts against R defense. I believe R offense can put up more on their D but we better figure out the red zone.

I did not see the Purdue/Minn game. Purdue almost doubled Minn in total yards. Difference seems to be turnovers where they were minus3:

There are no games remaining where you would say “probable win” for RU, it would be stunning though if we go 0-9 in conf play. If there is one win, I’m sure most want an upset of PSU. I still think that is a long shot no matter what their coaching situation is and against a backup QB. They still have a significant talent advantage. I think next week’s game vs Oregon could get ugly. They will be focused after the IU loss , add in it’s our “homecoming” game. Not a good set up.

Are we gonna get 3 INT's against Purdue? I highly doubt it. Minn got their hands on a bunch of throws by AK. Against Purdue, they got 3 INT's.

Our defense is never near the ball. Our only chance at INT's is a tipped ball or an overthrow into the arms of a safety.

How we finish is 100% on KC. We stink in the red zone. The other 2 units are toast and unsalvageable.

PSU potentially could be checked out for the season. They spent the resources to bring guys back and delay the NFL etc….and now their season is essentially over (no CFP). Will their players be thinking about the future or will they still be fighting hard in the present?

Was just listening to a pod and you know who could actually go winless in conference is Wisconsin. Didn’t realize what they had left on the schedule.

They have OSU, Oregon Washington, IU, Illinois and Minnesota…last game of the season might be their only chance.

He’s owed 27M if fired.

Yes we are a better team than Purdue but they have a competent Coach….that can be the difference.

If you polled this board, and said would you rather be 3-9 or 6-6 beating Purdue, UMD and Cult, I think 3-9 would win.

And people really believe GS would be fired in such a scenario.

I guess I either missed our new big donors. That or dispensaries have upped their game.

Wisconsin plays for keeps. Because they’ve been very successful before, winning is the goal not just in words but in actions. Fans demand it as they should, just like Yankees fans.

Rutgers fans and admins are the polar opposite. Based on past failures mediocrity is instead the expectation. That’s why Grifter Greg got extensions and raises and will be here until he retires.

Rutgers aims low, and the sitting HC and the state of the football program meets those expectations.

No, not even Shelby would prefer 3-9 because the fraud coach wouldn’t be fired anyway.

But yea, if 3-9 would get him fired Shelby would prefer that to 6-6 and keeping him because he ain’t ever going to do better than that since last year’s dream schedule won’t arise again.

The best hope for RU against PSU is that their OC chooses to throw the ball instead handing it off to Allen and Singleton. It's more likely that their backup QB will throw INTs than it is that RU will stop either one of those guys for a whole game.

That poster wasn't necessary doing it but 1 thing the apologists and mediocre loving fans love to do is always find the 1 team doing worse to prop up and justify our latest ho hum performance or record or game results.

Problem is we are the constant and the comparibles always take turns and change.

Sort of. We are the constant. But which is the one team we are better than at this time ?

We need to fire Smith and bring in a top DC from a good 2nd tier school. UCLA ‘s new interim coach did that 2 games ago and went from 0-4 and got 2 big conference wins with the Fresno State DC almost overnight.

That went downhill in a hurry.
