Well if you’re gonna say he lost it, gotta say he also had us in position. Was it raw emotion or are we good? Maybe a little of both.
You see coaches do this across all conferences. It's amazing how they end up out thinking themselves. But Lebby is still young head coach he's got a lot to learn and he will learn it.
Lebby kept us in the game with a bunch of players no one could hardly name. Our depth showed in the last 5 minutes. OL and DL were gassed.
Fine. But then who gets credit for taking us from a team who got clobbered by Toledo to one that beat ASU and took UT to overtime?
If he is running after the fake punt first down, we win.
A lot of what if’s. But we had the momentum, I’m perfectly fine with passing. It’s not like it was a trick play. It’s a normal passing play, just terrible luck there. There were other what if’s. If we defend 4th down before overtime we win.
For all he’s done right, that 2:00 drive was a royal screwup and I believe he would admit that when he has time to reflect back. Just like passing after the fake punt. Two major mistakes
The forcing the pass after the fake punt and the last drive hurt but I thought he lost it at the end of 3rd / start of the 4th. We go up a TD. Fluff been running all over them all night and we keep the rb rotation with Booth. Like booth but fluff was hot. Use him to drive down the field to go up 2 scores but we didn't and just gave the ball right back to them.
When you lose a close game like that everybody lost it. Every single person involved could have done just one thing differently, just one more play with extra effort, that most likely would have resulted in a win. A game like that is a learning experience. Hopefully we can teach and learn the right lessons.
We spent a lot to get people to come here. We didn’t steal any starters to come here.

Well in hindsight yeah. But if we’d hit a big pass we’d all be praising him for going for the jugular. Bottom line is the LT has to protect the QB backside better.
I’d be willing to bet what we spent is bottom 4 in the SEC. And probably about half what Tennessee spent.
I don’t know about that, this year. It’s widely known we spent 15M. Even Rosey admits it.

Nah that was bad coaching. Ideally, we at least get in field goal position. You definitely can’t give TN the ball back with all 3 timeouts still intact and a lot of time on the clock. Luckily for us, TN had the worst clock management I’ve ever seen at the end.
Well let’s use the eye test. Was UT that much better than us personnel wise? I didn’t think so. Granted our crowd played into it.

I thought it was a hell of a game. It obviously hurt to lose, but we played over our heads and that is more than I expected. Kudos to the coaches and players. It’s a good measuring stick and let’s us know we are going to beat someone’s *** soon.
This was one of the upsets I really believed we would get this year to potentially get us to 8 wins.
Heartbreaking to be in it like we were -- in spite of some weak execution and brain lapses from Shapen and some suspect game management from the coaching staff.
If they can get that cleaned up, we are still in line for a very much improved season and a bowl game.
But my hats are off to Lebby, the staff, and the whole team. Very competitive game. They fought hard and never quit.

This might be the most true statement said. It was just comical how bad it was. Which he was not good most of the game.
It was bad. But Huepel managed to be even worse in managing the last 2 minutes. He freaking let the clock run out on him with 2 time outs in his pocket!
Did they not have a TO left at end of the 1st half? If so, I thought that was odd to not use it and force our punt with 40+ seconds left. If we shank it, they could easily get in FG position. Instead we punt with maybe 10 seconds and they take the knee to end half
It was a normal passing play. We did it at least 30 other times. We weren’t trying to give the ball to Tennessee. The tackle whiffed a block and the guy blind sided our qb. **** happens.
