We can criticize after wins over mediocre teams. We really never criticized the defense or specials, just the horrible offense that kept mediocre teams in the games with us, and left our defense languishing on the field against Penn State, Michigan, Ohio State, Iowa State even Nebraska in 23.
You have the right to criticize whatever you want. That doesn't make it the right thing to do.

Criticizing the offense is criticizing Hawkeye football

And he thinks he’s so much smarter than everyone else. What a maroon.

He reminds me of the guy on Major League arguing the ball was hit too high to be a home run but it was still a home run….

Nah, I'm doing well. If and when I start threads titled "This is what you all asked for" trying for a flex only to have it blow up in my face, maybe I will seek help. Lol.

Guys, where is your confusion coming from?

AGAIN, there was NEVER A THING mentioned about concern that Iowa was going to lose the game.

AGAIN, I had my 2nd largest wager of the year on Iowa. That means I felt Iowa had a significant edge in the game. If I felt that strongly that Iowa had a significant edge in the game, why would I freak out about a tie game in the 2nd Q? I wouldn't and didn't.

My only point was that I would feel a lot more comfortable in a lower scoring game.

Nowhere did I say Iowa was going to lose because they were giving up too many points. Did my other in-game threads communicate a concern that Iowa was going to lose? No. One communicated praise for the coach after a missed Iowa FG. And the other communicated praise for the lack of pre-snap penalties. That was also posted during a 21-21 2nd Q tie

Are you the poster formerly know as cmhawk99, because you're just as annoying and the schtick is identical.

Don’t know this for a fact but I’m pretty sure that was his other handle on HB, although I wouldn’t rule out that they are lovers. Both handles were pretentious, condescending jerks not nearly as smart as they thought they were.
No, although I did enjoy a lot of CM's posts

@eyesofhawk not sure why you think this reply is funny.

I'd like to think the Hawks can score in the 4th when needed when they have 4 downs to get a first.

I'd also would like to see the offense with 2 minutes left in the game be able to get a first down to be able to take a knee and watch the clock run out.

For the last 3-4 years you could count on 1 finger the number of times they did this. The Hawks would go 3 and out and punt giving the other team a minute and a half to score. Freaking sick of that.

Also laughed at his mischaracterization. Nowhere have I claimed both good offense and good defense are not attainable.

Also laughed at him saying I need to watch more football. That's is quite hilarious to anyone who knows me.

So, yeah, pretty laughable post all the way around

Has some connection to the Ferentzi. F5n5 was the biggest fluffer. It was definitely a member of the family.

He's trying to rewrite history. Him and the CM guy were total Ferentz family bootlickers and if you ever criticized KF or BF they were there, on the spot, defending them and telling us how lucky we were to have them.

And yes, he was a fan of keeping Brian as OC, as much as he'd like you to believe otherwise now.

The offense deserved criticism
Even if it did, what good does the criticism do?

Negativity in the community is felt by the players and coaches. And it does NOT make their life easier.

And now with NIL, fan behavior is part of the real-time marketing of the program. How in the hell is money supposed to be raised in the community if everyone is always talking **** about the program? You realize football fans are incapable of thinking for themselves, right?

Why make it potentially harder for the team you root for to win? The answer is, most of the habitual complainers aren't true fans in the first place

The offense pisssd off a lot more consumers, and people who never really had the best interest of the Hawks at heart in the first place, than it did fans.

No, the offense didn't hurt the team to near the level people made it out to. Those offenses were part of KF's winningest stretch at Iowa.

People wanted to say Iowa would have won more with a better offense. But they gave no answers to how that better offense was supposed to have been acheived. No solutions = no legitimate complaint. Or they offered solutions that potentially could have hurt the defense.

Also, the complaint is based on a hypothetical that can never be proven. Hypothetically, Iowa could have won more games with a better offense. But given that it's just a hypothetical, that we know can never be proven, the validity of the complaint can inherently only go so far. Not only that, but reasonable arguments against the hypothetical claim exist. In other words, maybe the team would have won significantly more with better offenses, maybe not. So why in the hell does it still have people's panties in a bunch years later?

It should again be noted that there wasn't really room to have won significantly more. If no significant difference, why the significant level of complaint?

Of course, these questions have answers. For most, the complaining originated from a lack of being entertained. Their complaints would receive pushback in the form of Iowa's strong W/L records. So, in turn, the complainers responded that Iowa would have won even more with a better offense. So the whole "better offense" hypothetical complaint was born out of an attempt to justify the "lack of entertainment" complaint. Not real strong.

To further show the level of complaining to have not been warranted; no regrets of having not been elite are even at all a realistic conversation without the program having been very good in the first place. The football program having been consistently good is a credit to KF. Not something to be used against him.

Finally, people who actually had a clue what had happened to the o-line leading into '22, were able to recognize '22 and '23 as a clear outlier that was born out of some bad luck and timing. Throw in an emergency QB in '23, who was the worst QB to take significant snaps at Iowa in at least 40 years, to compliment the worst O-line in at least 40 years, and the fact that fans want to include those outlier seasons as part of some program narrative, is beyond laughable. True fans recognized it as an opportunity to support their team, that had fallen on some bad luck. Unfortuately, there were far too many, who weren't true fans, that "turned" on the Hawks.

Other than the non-entertained consumers, the only other people who give a crap about the "offense cost wins" narrative, are people who are either sensitive to "nepotism", or people who never had the Hawks best interest at heart and were looking for an excuse to "turn" on them.

There are many ways to vent that don't mutilply negativity in the Hawkeye community

If you didn't understand why people have issues with what you post, refer to these paragraphs, because this pretty much sums up why people (rightfully) disagree with you, and no amount of laughing emojis and repeating the same posts is gonna change that.

Funny you say that because I had a post after the ISU game documenting how different Iowa's record would be in the KF era had they won even "most" (not all) of their close losses, many of which were games where the offense objectively (not hyperbole or opinion) failed them. That included games over the last 5 years.

Pretty sure you left a laughing emoji on that as well.

Since it is all about winning and nothing else matters, here are the points the winning teams scored in the 24 losses going back to the 2019 season
2019-10, 17, 24
2020 - 24, 21
2021 - 24, 27, 42, 20
2022 - 10, 27, 9, 54, 24
2023 - 31, 12, 26, 35
2024, 20, 35, 32, 20, 27
2025 - 16
If Iowa had scored at least 20 in all those games, they would only have lost 18 of those 24
If they had scored 27, they would have lost 9
If they had scored 30, they would have lost 6
So even scoring 20 in those games they lost would have yielded 6 more wins over that period and the records would have looked like this.
2019: 11-1 (and the CCG) vs 9-3
2020: no change and it wouldn't have mattered
2021: no change
2022: 9-3 vs 8-4
2023: 9-3 vs 8-4
2024: no change
Three of those games would have gone to OT

Pretty easy to understand why people wanted more offense actually

No, there's no depends about it. You said what you said. You're guilty of criticizing Iowa just like everyone else. The degree to which you criticized is irrelevant even if that's the core of your issue with Iowa fans.

No. Defense can only be good with the offense going 3 and out and turning the ball over at an alarming rate. Defense can’t be good when the offense can score 14 points or more…it’s basically impossible.

This right here! Fran McCaffery proved this as well. If the offense is good, the defense MUST suck.

Thank you for agreeing with me.

I did answer the question. I'm sorry you didn't like my answer. I'm not gonna change how you feel.
It’s funny how he demands a simple answer to his question…..when he almost never gives a straightforward answer to anything.

If you were to give him 2 options for an answer, he wouldn’t take either one. Instead he would blather on about stuff that wasn’t part of the question, before refusing to actually give a direct answer.

Nor has he given a straightforward follow-up response to people who did answer his question......if he even chooses to respond.
