His older brother played for Catholic. Both have been in the MACS system since kindergarten. Next.Well, all collegiate teams mentioned don’t offer football scholarship’s or play substantial competition to be considered for national rankings. Where did the 6’3 sophomore starting TE at Catholic who caught the Hail Mary to beat Cuthbertson come from? I’m sure he lives next door....
That's true. I forgot that was changing.Yeah they have but when the classifications were subdivided.
Words, the Havelock coaches will look at the film and kick themselves. Statistically, the game was even and could have gone either way as both defenses totally frustrated the offenses for most of the game. Losing Edmunds hurt. He had been pretty much bottled up until his injury but is the type of player that can house it any play. Bottom line, Havelock made mistakes with the penalties and bad snaps that cost them dearly and essentially beat themselves. I also thought that being in a tough game with team capable of trading punches caught them by surprise. Seeing 0 points after the first quarter and only 7 on the board late in the forth was psychologically a new experience. Catholic had multiple close games, some they were lucky to win. If these teams were to play 10 times, my gut instinct says Havelock would win at least 7. One recommendation for the fall season, schedule a game with someone that can beat you, even if you go out of state. Win or lose, you learn a lot about your team. Havelock has the nucleus to make a deep run again this fall. Catholic goes up to 4A. Will be harder but they have been there before.Exactly any other team would have made all them mistakes against Catholic they would have beat their Brains in I think havelock played a great game outside of all the mistake I think you take all them bad snaps and late hits away it could have been different or it still could have ended 14-7 who knows they both played some the best defense I’ve seen all year specially on two of the best running backs in the state
He’s a junior lolget your story straight Blackhawk. He is a freshman. Most of our kids from the parochial schools in Charlotte. 0-5

Who was the best offense?I tried to tell you and easy that this group was hard to score on. But so many of you proclaimed that our kids would not want to tackle Edmunds and we have never faced a more explosive team. Neither of those statements were accurate.
I expected a good game and thought if it was close, advantage to us. I know you can only play who is on your schedule but over the years the completion catholic plays is so much more difficult. That makes a difference. I was not surprised that we could not consistently move the ball as we are really young upfront. We lost one go our backs in the ACR game who is a big difference maker and lost our senior leaders when Neel could not play. 33 was on the JV team until the playoffs. But that is not to take anything away from Havelock as they were the best defense we faced all year, however they were not the best offense.

Explain your 26 points and I will get you an answer.Who was the best offense?
Wow... 0-6. You can not simply think deeper than an inch deep. Open enrollment and a parochial based education enrollment is so different. I let you in on a little secret... Jesus loves us more. There’s multiple kids that have been in the BCS system since kindergarten. Forced to attend the high school and play for their school in the district they live. NEXT
Proprietary methodologies that obviously need to re-examined.Honda
I am still curious about the 26 points. How did you come up with that?
That makes no sense. There’s multiple kids that have been in the BCS system since kindergarten. Forced to attend the high school and play for their school in the district they live. NEXT
I think you are agreeing with the point I made, but those kids are extremely smart. Sooo... what is it you are saying now? Raw intelligence is not an advantage?Well, all collegiate teams mentioned don’t offer football scholarship’s or play substantial competition to be considered for national rankings. I’m sorry you can’t see how your open enrollment provides an advantage over other schools. I’m not taking anything away from the football team. Clearly a great team! Congratulations on the state championship! That makes no sense.

Touche. Keep at it. It is good to be tested early and will only make you better.Havelock had a 2-year schedule with Dillon (SC) the last few years but never got to play due to COVID/weather.
I’m saying you are privileged to have selected intellect. Says the fan of a 4th straight state championship appearance team competing against public schools... be honest are you really Tommy Knotts?I am sorry you can not differentiate between open enrollment and parochial enrollments. It is not the same.
Tommy KNotts won everywhere he went. I don't remember him having open enrollment. Are you making another nonsensical post? Man you just got to 0-6. You know if you put a few more doozies out there's you will have scored more points than Havelock did tonight.Says the fan of a 4th straight state championship appearance team competing against public schools... be honest are you really Tommy Knotts?
Not trying to pick a fight and definitely not adding an excuse as to why Havelock lost. But, have questions here. Does an "open area" you and others refer mean a geographically larger area to pull kids from for sports - please explain what is the definition for - open area and the geographical boundary lines if any for - open area . Also seems to me that "larger areas to draw students" does equate to advantages, especially if that larger area is within a large population center. For instance, Havelock is in Craven county. If Havelock could combine with the only other high school (New Bern) within the same county (Craven) then that larger geographical area would definitely be an advantage in athletics. Just my thinking but seems logical. Anyway, congrats to Catholic a well-coached and disciplined team. Not going to drink the koolade that they have no D1 players. You keep spouting the hate.. you argument about open enrollment demonstrates an ignorance in knowledge about how students are enrolled. When did larger areas to draw students begin to equate an advantage in athletics. You keep convincing yourself with bogus thoughts and then blame on a perspective from the other side of the tracks. No offense my friend but you are like 0-3. .
Havelock will be back. LOL.. I think they are always there. I don't think anyone from Catholic said Edmonds has not been hit. I think it was more like saying our kids would not want to tackle him. Now that was a crazy comment. We were down to playing our 3rd string back during the game as well. That is not ideal for us.Some of these comments are flat out crazy lol. Catholic was the better team 2nite, congrats to them. I take nothing away from them, lets kill that whole open enrollment thing 1st, those kids are no 4 and 5 stars they are just coached well and rarely make mistakes. Let's kill the Edmonds not getting hit all year theory too. 1st off that wasn't the ankle he previously injured, 2nd off of u saw the way he went down we all gasped bcuz we thought it was a knee, 3rd he shouldn't have even came back out but he fought even tho he couldn't even cut on it. Our offense is good, but u can't have that many bad snaps and errors, on top of your back being injured and think u gonna beat that CC team. Hats off to them, like I said congrats... Havelock will be back
Comments flat out crazy? Yes, Catholic was the better team. No, they don’t have D1 athletes galore. I’m a retired coach of 20 years. Winning at the High School level isn’t always just football! Having a select group of intellectuals to play is an advantage. The only school I’ve seen pull it off legally is WeddingtonSome of these comments are flat out crazy lol. Blackhawk. Looks like you have short memory too. I didn't raise the intelligence issue. You did with your quote earlier: "Good god could you be any drunker on the kool aid?!!! You’re argument is they hardly have any D1 kids??? They have a endless influx of really smart, without academic challenged kids. Most PUBLIC schools design their football teams around 4 or 5 stud athletes. It’s not an even playing field."I’m saying you are privileged to have selected intellect. Forsyth County/ Winston Salem has open enrollment, like Catholic and is allowed to compete against all other public schools. With school boundaries. Wonder how East Forsyth has 3 or 5 D1 dawgs every year????Not trying to pick a fight and definitely not adding an excuse as to why Havelock lost. But, have questions here. I have been called a lot of things in my life. Privileged is new. I will concede that your logic was way beyond my intellect and remains so. I still think any school would rather have 4-5 D1 stud athletes than 4-5 skinny armed future neuroscience majors to design their football team around. I have also been anything but pompous with any other poster. Just you.

Yes, Catholic draws from a larger area because we need to so we can fill the school with Catholics. Hence the name - Charlotte Catholic High School.Forsyth County/ Winston Salem has open enrollment, like Catholic and is allowed to compete against all other public schools. With school boundaries. I was thinking probably Monroe. As long as they are yours. LOL.
Actually it would be hard to say which offense was best as several of them presented significant problems for us. We actually deal with big running backs pretty well. Monroe was the scariest and thankful they figured it out to late how to attack us. They had the most weapons to exploit us. Weddington is just solid but not that explosive. Too often we think teams that put up the most points are the most difficult but who you play has a lot to do with that. Crest hit us in the mouth but we adjusted. I think we got their best.
Well.. I guess the North Carolina Christians should form a select high school to compete against Charlotte Catholic? Argument makes sense right?Yes, Catholic draws from a larger area because we need to so we can fill the school with Catholics. Hence the name - Charlotte Catholic High School.
Already done. There is actually a high school in Charlotte called Charlotte Christian. You might have heard of them. They play at a very elite level and are always ranked as one of the top teams in NC. They also had a yearly rivalry with Catholic pre Covid. They are non denominational and draw from a broad geography too. They play in the NC private school league, but like Catholic, are willing to take on all comers. Catholics actually attend Charlotte Christian. Did you know Catholics are Christians too? Would they be allowed to play on your hypothetical select team?Well.. I guess the North Carolina Christians should form a select high school to compete against Charlotte Catholic? Argument makes sense right?
Catholic does not have kids coming into Catholic on "open Enrollment" whatever that means to you. 95 TO 100 % of the football players come thru the Elementary and middle school MACS system (MACS means Mecklenburg Area Catholic Schools). If you transfer into Catholic under "open enrollment" you have to sit out a year and you are not eligible to play sports the year you transfer. Your parents will also have to fork over 10k to 12k the year you cant play and 10k to 12k a year when you finally can play. No player can receive any financial assistance or loan if they will play sports in the NCHSAA. That is the deal between NCHSAA and Catholic. There has never been a hint that Catholic has ever violated this and has caused us to lose many athletes who were in MACS thru elementary and middle school but would have needed aid to go to Charlotte Catholic High. Not trying to pick a fight and definitely not adding an excuse as to why Havelock lost.
