Another year, another installment of UNC v Duke, I mean Mooresville v West Rowan lol. I don’t know too much about west heading into this season. I do know they have a kid on their d line that’s about 6’4, 290. He’s gonna be a handful for us. I also believe they have a pretty decent q.b as well and a good rb.

As for us.... we’ll quite frankly I haven’t got a clue what to expect lol. New Coach, a lot of new assistants, new starting QB (I expect), think we only have 1 returning olineman for this game from last year (would have been 2 but were down one for a few weeks). What I do know is we no longer will be the predictable off tackle running teams that we’ve largely been for decades lol. We had a scrimmage vs Richmond County Wednesday, tied 7-7. Then scrimmages Hickory Saturday and won 28-8 (and left 2 scores on the field). Didn’t see us vs Richmond, but I liked what I saw vs hickory.

I fully expect this game to be another 1 score type of ball game. I’m tempted to go with that classic 21-14 scoreline it always seems to be between these 2 as of late lol. But I’ll go with 24-17 Mooresville... although I could just as easily see West Rowan taking this one as well. Thoughts?

the first quarter was an exercise in futility for both offenses, with turnovers, flags, errant passes and dropped balls. WR just couldn’t seem to make a play when they needed one. Mooresville really stood out defensively and on special teams. the offense was OK in spurts. they have the appearance of a well coached, well conditioned team. we’ll find out more about them when Davie Co. visits in a couple weeks, after a bye week for the Blue Devils.

edit:
Mooresville 21
WR 7

Agree. The offense is going to be a work in progress for a while I think.... to go from passing maybe an average of 3-5 times a game to passing 15 maybe more times a game..... that’s a HUGE change for a program that hasn’t been groomed for it. It’s going to take time.

As for the game- like you said, you can just see the improvement in the fundamentals almost immediately. There were some game 1 sloppiness... had some issues getting the plays in at times but that’s going to smooth itself out in time. West Rowan physically looks the part of a good team.... big QB, big lines, couple big WR’s. But man we stuffed their offense, especially the first half. West put together a very nice 3rd qtr drive that ate up almost the entire quarter. But Mooresville made the adjustment after the score and sealed it up. Our punter was unreal. Kept us ahead in the field position battle all night, a total game changer.

I still think at times we will take our lumps this year, I’ve always said this is going to be a 2-3 year rebuilding project. But I believe we have the right coach and right staff in place to make it happen.

Man this game you’d think would fill up 2 pages of talk lol.

years ago it would have but not much buzz about either program these days. Mooresville is very pedestrian in the 4A IMECK and you’ll be hard pressed to find even a handful of WR posters now. life goes on.
