If you ever go on Rupp Rafters, they keep bringing that game up as evidence that Allen is overrated.

Who even remembers Championship Classic wins/losses after the NCAA tournament that season?

Unemployed U.K. fans living in trailer parks have nothing else to hang their hats on. They'll always have that meaningless early season win over Duke in 2015 though!!
They think Duval is so overrated but Quade Green is the truth according to them. Duval would ABSOLUTELY destroy Quade Green!

Duval is a superior player. Quade Green is more of a Quinn Cook type player. Should be 4 year player due to lack of height and explosiveness. Good college player and marginal NBA player.

Quade Green is a great facilitator. I don't want to trash him just yet. He plays winning basketball. If it's one on one, yeah Duval wins easily. We're playing team ball though. Let's just stick to calling out Big Blue Nation for their obvious stupidity, and leave the good players out of it. Calipari won't know how to coach Green. That's a convo I'd entertain.

So is there any news regarding Bagley's visit to Duke on Thursday. I swear, UK fans can ruin a wet dream.

Bagley doesn't visit Arizona for another two weeks. I figure he either commits to Duke as soon as the NCAA gets his grades in and clears him or we'll find out in August. He won't be joining us in the Caribbean, so we might as well settle in on this one. It wouldn't be awful if he couldn't reclassify and committed to Duke for 2018-19. That sure would help things moving forward.

Don't sell Quade Green short, the kid can ball. Can he attack and finish like Duval? No way, but as mentioned he's just as good (if not better) of a facilitator and has a strong mid-range J. I saw him play in Philly and I think he'll be a very good collegiate PG. He's just not the scorer or defender that Trevon is.

I could definitely live w/this scenario!

I like Quade, but he is a four year system player. He is not "plug n play", Quade is only 150lbs and does not have the good on ball defense of a similar guard like Tyler Ulis. I expect him to personally struggle in a better SEC, playing in an offense not catered to his strengths, and playing for coach Cal who could not make an in-game adjustment even if you told him what to do (ex. 38-1 squad vs wisky and this past U19 championship game vs RJ).

He'll be fortunate if he ends up like Ulis, and even he didn't have as much of an impact until his sophomore year

If I'm AntonioV, I've set on the bench for 2yrs, I either get PT this yr or transfer. There you go. lol

That to me is the problem, and I know this is a hypothetical and sky was half kidding. But let's say that did happen. Vrank, who I do like, not even ranked and was a very late add for depth leaves bc Duke has had success on the recruiting trail at his position? Like I get it you want to play, but you also chose to come to Duke knowing full well that wouldn't be very easy to do if at all.

I'd be willing to bet that someone will say Bolden is going to transfer if we get Bagley considering there were already rumors last year that he was going to transfer

Truthfully its a logical ASSUMPTION, or kneejerk reaction considering the backstory on the scenario. OFC

Look at it from his point of view, he knows he isn't going to start but, he's probably expect 10to15 min a game and that's reasonable. If Bagley comes he may get left out of the rotation altogether and for him that may be unacceptable. I hope he doesn't transfer because he might start 18-19.

What do you know about his point of view?
You realize the post you responded to was mocking the way we prematurely wring our hands about transferring, and here you are arguing in favor of a transfer, right?

Like I said in my post I definitely get it, but at the same time you're making my point for me- he's an unranked kid coming to Duke. Duke is never going to stop recruiting the best of the best- if they whiff or if injuries occur or a Jeter situation occurs make sure you're ready to go. It's not "ideal" from his POV but he knew what he signed up for.

I see your rationale. Prior to the emergence of Bagley in the picture I figured Vrank was looking at 10-12 mins a game. With young Marvin its conceivable he gets no burn at all and becomes disenchanted.I dont think you were "arguing for his transfer" necessarily, you simply laid out a fairly logical scenario.

Its also true you do have to know when you come to Duke this is where the big boys play! K is not one of those guys to guarantee anything, and he expects his players to constantly work on their game. If they reap the benefits, they will make that leap in PT and status as Luke did last year.

I will say in Vrank's case and I have no analytics to back this up:It seemed he was getting a little more PT under Capel last year during K's recovery than when Coach returned.

Nope not at all, I hope he stays because as a senior he could be a key contributor. His point of view: I don't have to be psychic to know eventually he'll want PT

I'd like to see our bench guys get more situational minutes, coming in to rough up or tire out the other team. K used to send in bench guys quite often to send messages to starters slacking on defense. That type of energy injection is priceless.

If these kids like Vrank, Delaurier, White, Tucker... practice hard and show improvement, yes I'd like to see them get court time. The argument though is how many minutes does Duke have for them? K as we all know, will give majority of minutes to the 'stars.' I get that, it is his way, but this is a discussion that will pop its head up in a bad way if Duke doesn't go real deep into NCAA tournament, and Duke is only playing 6-7 consistently. Losing will bring up all the armchair opinions. We are all so passionate, and hate seeing our team lose. It is what it is

I agree and thats NOT a bad thing! Some mods and some certain condescending members will look down upon us for venting, but as you say-"it is what it is." WE LOVE OUR BLUE DEVILS, WIN OR LOSE, but we have passionate feelings too about our team. I personally believe you have to play some of those guys you mentioned, to generate bench depth per injuries, foul trouble, etc.... OFC

I read an article, don't know how true it is, but even if Duke gets Bagley he wouldn't make the Dominican trip. This just adds another angle on the "if" train. If the other guys do well on this trip, then how much will this affect them once Mr Bagley is added?

I wouldn't think a ton, it's only two exhibition games and a few practices in July and august. Nothing is going to be set in stone bc of this trip, although he can join us just not play which helps in the bonding aspect.

Actually more I think about it if we do get "Bags," and I am Bolden/DeLaurier/Vrank I am working EVEN HARDER in these 10 practices and 2 exhibitions w/mindset "he's gotta beat me out." Competition can bring out the best in everyone. OFC

I really expect Javin to excel in the open court with Trevon at the point, with or without Marvin this Duke squad is a very talented bunch. The question will be can they defend for 40 mins?
Having Duval will help everyone. Grayson is also a good distributor of the ball. On the notion of them being able to defend for 40 minutes, I think this team will be hungrier than our previous team.
