He gave up a seeing eye grounder, a perfectly placed broken bat dunker, and a bloop that a better outfielder might have caught. **** happens.Stanke is stinky. Get a haircut!
I like his hair. Brings back memories of long, long ago.

Reminds me of Kiler from Beavis and Butthead. Or Gibby Haynes of the Butthole Surfers.Stanke is stinky. Get a haircut!
Not saying you're wrong, but I doubt that Mendoza will ever make that move.Would have preferred Torrens over Alvarez in that spot but oh well
Very surprised that Diaz, who was on three days rest, was not brought in to pitch the ninth after he had warmed up.Clutch was stuck all night. Particularly Vientos and Soto. Bullpen starting to spring some leaks. Was never gonna remain as good as it had been. Although Stanek didn't exactly get raked around. More like a few as long as you put it in play something good can happen type of hits. As opposed to striking out with ducks on the pond as was our m.o. tonight. Can't and won't win em all but 0-10 with risp? Geez. Arizona won because their hitters produced back to back sac flies. And sometimes that's all you need. To bear down and find a,way to get a run in.
Yeah hence my oh well. Felt like absolutely the right move, but they’re just not going to pull the trigger on that (at least anytime soon). Not saying you're wrong, but I doubt that Mendoza will ever make that move.
If pinch-hitting with Torrens is the correct decision, and if Torrens (as is generally conceded) is superior defensively, then Torrens should be the starter and Alvarez the backup, no? I don't ever see Mendoza doing that. I think the Mets are committed to Alvarez as C1 for at least the foreseeable future.
DC and now this.I will be in 319. I will be wearing a Mets jersey and an RU hat.
Since you frame it as something personal, that's fine. It's not as if Torrens is a good hitter. And while, yes, Alvarez is still finding himself, he's still got a much higher lifetime OPS than Torrens.Would have preferred Torrens over Alvarez in that spot but oh well
I didn't notice that Keith said that. But I also didn't like the location on Stanek's fastball. It allowed the guy, who was already slapping at pitches to stay alive, to slap one in play to the outfield. In and up would have been better.Regarding Stanek. The bloop hit that plated two runs was a terrible pitch. Keith pointed out the uppercut swing. If he throws a high fast ball, that dude strikes out. Instead, he gave him a good pitch to hit down and in the strike zone. Stanek has lost his mojo. We need him to get his sh*t together quickly with the other injuries in the pen.
Torrens for Alvarez? Diaz pitching the 9th? I guess you can say anything would be better than what happened. But I wouldn't have done those things. Sometimes the right decision doesn't work out.
I am confident the Bob jinx will end today!DC and now this.
Stay home, Bob. Stay home.
No Lindor?Just saw an article in something called BVM sports, listing the 10 greatest Mets of all time. Here is their countdown:
10. Jose Reyes
9. Pete Alonso
8. Jerry Koosman
7. Keith Hernandez
6. Jacob deGrom
5. Darryl Strawberry
4. Mike Piazza
3. Dwight Gooden
2. David Wright
1. Tom Seaver
I think #1 is unanimous, but the rest is subject to debate. What do you all think? Is Pete Alonso, based on his current body of work, already one of the top 10 Mets of all time?
Guess that’s why at the lower levels their rosters are so pitching heavy.Six pitchers in four days. That is some serious roster churn.
Cabrera's promotion was inevitable as he is the only lefty left.
He and Alvarez both need to learn to be ready for 1st pitch fastballs. They take so many right down Broadway to immediately fall behind in the count, before then starting to flail at breaking pitches way out of the strike zone.Vientos incredibly easy to pitch to , he better learn fast
Slider low and away …weak swing …0-1
Fastball right down middle …stare at it …0-2
Slider low and away in dirt …horrible waving swing ..K
To my fellow RU and Mets fans: Please accept my sincerest, heartfelt apologies! Despite having been a Mets fan since that first day in St. Petersburg in 1962, it appears as if my attendance at Mets games has become detrimental to the team. Therefore, I will take a three week self imposed timeout so that I may reevaluate my fervent fandom. My best wishes to you all!!
I am confident the Bob jinx will end today!
Please just miraculously find a way to somehow get it done this year already
Yup!. Probably making spot start tomorrow or Sunday. Still has control issues so we'll see.Blade Tidwell being recalled.
Wonder why him over Sproat. Guess it might be who is available to pitch that day based on when they last pitched.Yup!. Probably making spot start tomorrow or Sunday. Still has control issues so we'll see.
Lefty vs Righty? Are we sure he being brought up to be a starter?Wonder why him over Sproat. Guess it might be who is available to pitch that day based on when they last pitched.
Yeah Sproat pitched Wednesday so wouldn't have enough rest. He's also been struggling a bit more than Tidwell so far.Wonder why him over Sproat. Guess it might be who is available to pitch that day based on when they last pitched.
