Wasn’t aware of the head to head but have seen Dean beat Berge , Smith (from Maryland) , Heller from Pitt and that guy from Ohio State. Don’t think Shane has as many wins over top 15 guys that being said I get why people like Shane and thin he has the build to move up to 197.

CSU Bakersfield had two ranked wrestlers not named AJ Ferrari, #33 at 125 and #20 at hwt. The Rutgers wrestling room is substantially more competitive.
Ferari would be a mistake. He is immensely talented and would upgrade the talent level but there would be a significant cost. I'm not even sure you can estimate the cost accurately. I really enjoy his antics. I enjoy them on some other team than the one I follow though!

You are the type of person once your mind is made up on something it will never change or adapt. Even if AJ goes on to make the podium a few more times and stays out of trouble, like he did at CSBU. You will still think he’s a bad guy and his faith is fake no matter what he does.
Being good at wrestling doesn’t change what happened at OK St. I’m sure he’s grown up since then, but at the end of the day he did some vile stuff. The fact that he didn’t kill anybody including himself in that car wreck is incredible, not to mention all the leaked messages and stories about what he was doing to girls at OK St.
Is it possible he’s matured and that stuff is now only in his past? (I’m not asking you to judge if you think it is)

I am in the Camp that would like AJ here.
I understand all the different opinions and views.
I do think he’s matured. I’m glad CSU gave him a shot. I’m glad he’s trying to get his life back in order. I also don’t want to be the team to be responsible if these judgements are wrong.
I will pull for him if he’s here, hell I’m pulling for him to succeed regardless. I’m a fan of his ability and I really don’t mind the character he plays. I just don’t want someone with his past on our roster because if things go south it’s an embarassment on the program.
Would be good depth but not sure why he’d come here to be a backup. I think he can get a medical redshirt for this past year so probably has 3 years of eligibility left but he’d be coming to a program that has generally does well at filling the lower weights.

Your heart is in the right place wanting him to succeed and not wanting potential embarrassment on the program.. the same program, located in a wrestling hotbed, yet the elite recruits do not want to go to apparently. Why ruin the reputation, why gamble, why ruin the status quo?
We should play safe and just stay in our lane as a perennial top 20-30 team for another decade and be laughed at when we self dub ourselves as a perennial top 10 program.
Their family has had multiple opportunities to come here and have passed up serveral times already. I dint see him coming here.
Instead of potentially selling my soul to the Devil, I'd prefer to root for those who wrestle with respect, dignity and honor. His past antics and actions tell me there's a big risk coming here even though there was no major trouble this year.

As much as I’d like to give AJ a fresh start, if you watch his post-match interview on Flo he apparently got into a dust-up with the Mich HWT at weigh-ins. IDK who said what or started it, but he clearly didn’t react in the God-forgiving manner he was preaching. He basically admitted to challenging the kid to fight. I’m not sure it’s possible to remove drama from his life even if he’s not causing it.

I don't think we can afford to pass on anyone elite if they want to come here. If it's the moral high ground you want to take, then no one should be complaining about the status quo.(36th) We have good coaches who keep their noses above ground and are good spokesman, they're just having troubling fielding talented kids who can AA. We also have great kids from great families who graduate, they just can't wrestle at an elite level for a sustained period of time.
Boy AJ sure does love to talk! As for the glory of God stuff, I kind of sense he is not BSing about that. Not many people can just recite Bible verses at rapid speed the way he did (if they were even Bible verses!). So he is at least cracking the book open and studying some of it. After watching this interview, I'm softening my stance on AJ a wee bit. I dont like his extra antics on the mat and if the allegations about the women are true, I cant support that. But the dude is amped and loves to wrestle. If properly vetted, he's worth a look. But oh, look out if he gets a serious look or he comes here. The newly, all-digital, state Rag will be all over him like stink on sh*t.
