With OL and defense experience there's no reason to think the season can be on the chubby side of successful.
Finally GS cant say "we're young" in every interview.
Of course injuries are always a key.
I also think "the real world" has tremendous potential for "disruptions" and I'll be surprised if season goes normally.

He doesn’t like our QB and said athan is not an upgrade . Damn I was hoping he would be an upgrade but this football genius said it’s not happening. Oh well.

Would you have also mocked him if he predicted we go 10-2?

So weird how people seemingly get upset over the sports opinions of random people on the internet.

Does this also happen in other areas?
If some random guy with a blog says "Oppenheimer stunk" do Oppenheimer fans complain and mock the guy?

So Athan is not an upgrade on the worst passer in all of FBS football? Bold take. I think this guy is overvaluing Wimsatt's six, 2yd. and in TD plunges and is just looking at the stat sheet to make his prediction.

RU's red zone is traditionally anemic and no RU QB aside from GW and Sanu were any good at "plunging" there .
RU offense is vanilla all over the field but in red zone its all short bus stuff

Yeah, I’m sure the returning rushing leader in the B1G, Monangai couldn’t have taken it in from inside the two.

For a non-RU fan, 7-5 is a reasonable prediction.
Was having this discussion with a tailgating friend today, and 7-5 is what I consider the floor for a successful season.
Think that 8-4 is a reasonable target, and anything better than that means RU overperformed to non-RU fan expectations.
9-3 or 10-2 is a dream season, and RU fans love to dream, including me. IMO, 9-3 is a 60/40% chance, and 10-2 is 30/70% chance. Just wild guesses mainly because we really will not know what we have in a QB and a passing game until after the Va Tech game.

The two yards inside goal are two of the hardest yards to get.
Of course the defense is keyed in on Mongo
In Rice's last two seasons he had 20 and 24 TDs.
Mongo's 8 TD are just OK - more like a WR stat and nowhere near B1G leader (.Corum with 27)
RU is a tough offense to get anything done inside the RZ.
The RU ruck play fits RU - no hand-off to fumble and just push.
GW was a stronger runner on goal than people acknowledge
He looks skinny in the legs but he was hard to get down

While 8-4 does seem perfectly reasonable, I would contend that beating Vegas by a game-and-half would already constitute outperforming non-RU fan expectations.

Worked with a guy who was a DB for the Pound Puppies in early 2000s. He took a look at our schedule for this year and said we should go 8-4. Also told me HCRE was an arsehole and that he liked Schiano.

It’s pretty normal for people to complain about opinions they disagree with, not sure if this is unusual to you.

I understand the writer's thinking of the QB situation, Wimsatt is a very good athlete that defenses had to have a spy. Our new QB will be a traditional pocket passer that defenses will try to rattle. Line play will be important. I think all our questions will be answered in the VT game, which the writer does not think we will win.

Mostly in line with what I said above (542 votes):
5-6: 6.%
7-8: 58.7%
9-10: 29.5%
11-12: 5.4%

How does the author know it's going to be "chilly" October Saturday for the UCLA game??

I mean even @RU848789 doesn't make predictions that far out! 🤣

I think to a degree GWs running ability at the goal line was part of the reason for Monangai's lower TD number than Rice. That and Rice was excellent and the OL he had was better the RU's '23 OL.

Undefeated ( until first loss)
National Champions ( unless they ain't)
Earn playoff spot ( maybe not)
7-5 (acceptable and most likely)
8-4 (very good and a chance for it)
9-3 ( slim chance, but can hope)
10 or more ( can pray for it , but don't expect an answer )

Part of the story is that RR and his OL was not running against B1G defenses like OSU, Mich and Ped State.

Last season the Scarlet Knights started 3-0 before entering their tough Big Ten schedule.

Um, this numbnuts apparently doesn't think Northwestern is in the Big Ten.

I do not believe Kaliakmanis is much of an upgrade at the position based on his one year as a starter for the Gophers. He led the team to a 5-7 record throwing for 1,838 yards (only 103 more than Wimsatt), 14 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions.

And this numbnuts missed the fact that GW's numbers came in 13 games as opposed to 12 for AK. Also GW had 9 TD's to 8 INT's.

They will breeze through the first two games against Howard and Akron and then I believe they’ll drop the next two at Virginia Tech and versus Washington.

So he thinks we'll go 0-2 vs VT and UW? I highly doubt that happens, we'll be at least 1-1 coming out of those games.

Rutgers will be underdogs against both Virginia Tech and national runner-up Washington. While it’s possible we take one of those games, it is by far most likely that we lose both in the eyes of the general and betting public.

Edit- I updated to Rutgers winning over VT.
I have us losing to VT and winning over Washington. We have home field advantage on Washington, and they did lose a lot of players. However we will be Washington's 2nd B1G team they play, and they will probably beat their first one, Northwestern. They will have a lot of incentive to beat the Beast of the East.

Washington lost their coach and a ton of players. I wouldn't make a prediction for that game until I see the first game or two this season.

Take Rutgers and the points.
Washington will be tough to beat straight up , but with a new coach and traveling to the east coast to play at Shi Stadium gives Rutgers a fair chance to pull out the victory and College Football News has the chances of Rutgers winning 50/50 .
VT is the home team when they play Rutgers , but the Hokies are not a powerhouse and Rutgers is a program on the rise.
Some so called experts are giving VT the edge, Schiano's Scarlet Knights will prove them wrong.
Expect a close game , but a RU win
