Because if u start overturning games when will it stop lol every coach would provide video of bad calls or missed in the final minute begging for games to be overturned it will be never ending. Having illegal players and Refs making a bad call are two different things. Going foward what would be the point of having refs people would question every call they would lose any type of control they have as a rel
OK, where was the outrage when Woodrow Wilson was robbed on the last play of the game vs Cedar Creek, which last I looked, doesn’t have the same demographics as Manasquan? They were told to get over it and they eventually got over it and didn’t even have to hire a lawyer or whatever, you simple hypocrite.

Very true!!

You provided a link to a call that was clearly reviewed via instant replay. If the Manasquan/Camden game allowed for instant replay we would not be having this discussion

I have not seen this as a demographic thing within this discussion.

If u say so clearly beat your opponent and don't cry when a human misses a call
Leave the “ human” whine out of it . FACT: a lack of common sense, and who knows what else. If they win by 1 or 100 that argument is null n void. Incompetence here…nor a simple error of humankind.

I didn’t either but Someone else did.

And BTW, the kid was clearly in and was STILL not given a TD after replay. There’s wasn’t an outrage by Jomboy, Barstool, or whatever over that play,l and replay review. But there wasn’t any. Everyone moved on from that.

boomers in here complaining about life not being fair, hilarious

No one i saying life isnt fair. i agree the call should stand the refs made it. It is what it is. they ruined one of the best moments in these kids lives. You overrule one you have to over rule them all.

That being said there needs to be consequences for a ref cheating. Dont sit here and say oh well people make mistakes.

What we witnessed was a ref making maybe the worst call in high school basketball history. Not only did he make the wrong call, he went and overuled the other ref who clearly and dramatically made the right call. this is after standing at half court watching the entire play with his thumb up his butt and not make a call at all. it was only when they huddled up that he decided to have an opinion on it. My question is why did he go from not making the call at all to then overruling it?

That question has been answered. The question is do you accept the answer and what else do you want if you don’t.

It sucks for those kids. It’s a great opportunity now for the Camden kids.

@kingz213 how was the whistle the rest of the game?

I had the same reaction to that call as this one. The adults need to be better. The refs in that case had multiple chances to do the right thing and they still failed.

But it’s time to move on. You can’t sue your way out of every problem. No matter how big or small. Bad precedent to set for changing a call 1-2-3 days after you leave the field of play.

Not a thing

Ref who made the correct call made a critical mistake. As soon as he made it and buzzer sounds get off the floor. Go to your locker room. Nothing happens if he does that. He was in the right position and it was his call. You make it and you exit.

100% what should have occurred . Someone got others involved and regardless should be sanctioned by the State of NJ. Come on Murphy at least make sure this never happens again.

That's an easy one...because it's not his call to make, and he shouldn't be making any call on the play. Everyone has an assignment...his is to watch the play, and giving support/information to the guy that did make the call if it's needed. That guy asked him what he saw, so he gave him that information. There was no "overruling", it was the C's call to make, he made it, and then he unfortunately changed it based on getting bad information.

Question for the group- if you were at the NJSIAA how would you address this moving forward?

My initial impressions/ideas:

-Replay for specific situations mandatory for all playoff games ASAP
-Officials must meet up/check in at scorer's table at the conclusion of every game for a final 'sign off' no matter what the score is
-Officials are escorted off the court/field-coaches/personnel are not to approach them once they are leaving the court/field

I would say we play thousands of games a year and 99.9% of the time we get things right. We won’t change process or burden education departments with additional budget constraints because of the outliers.

Burden the educational department? Let’s be honest for a change . I still know 15-20 teachers who are active. The only burden they have is deciding where their next day off is.

-State supplies the Replay system for the playoffs:
Hard cam and a cam at each end zone. Kind of like the same hookup that St Peters U and all the small colleges have for their ESPN+ broadcasts. All 3 cams synched up to the clock. No more HE SAID/SHE SAID crap. Just look at the monitors in situations like this.

-Refs escorted off the court by police. Anyone from any school approaches them: FIRED/ BANNED.

I think most of this is already available without much of a cost increase.

Yeah...whoever heard a coach complaining about a game ?
Exactly they would be lining up to go to court to get games overturned right and left in every sport. Time to let it go Manasquander is at home it sucks but that's life

I see the newest gem in the news is the Camden AD is trolling Manasquan HS ….way to go . If it’s true a total lack of respect and perhaps he needs a letter of rebuke by the NJSIAA. Classless but what would anyone really expect….

Didn’t realize you could just grab the head ref as he’s leaving the floor and have the ref just change his mind (overruling the ref who was in position to make what was obviously the correct call) and declare your team the winner. That was really somethin’.

That's B.S. Most situations would not be worth the cost involved.
This case was so egregious that it would definitely be worth pursuing.

I’m still waiting for someone to answer my question on posting a link to the last time a high school team “DID THE RIGHT THING.” relinquished or forfeited a win because of “a miscarriage of justice.”

All I know was that the last time I heard DO THE RIGHT THING so much last week was when I saw Rosie Perez for the first time when DO THE RIGHT THING first came out.

Not exactly striking fear into hearts of their opponents. Arts was totally and literally out of their class. Camden an entirely bought team . 😜
