Simpson has to be the primary ball handler. The O just needs to be Simpson using a screen or beating his man off the dribble and getting into the lane. From there it’s score, dump off to Cliff, or kick out for an open shot or ball rotation to get an open shot. Asking Caleb or Paul to create doesn’t work.
It's sad that true freshman is more reliable than a 4th year senior.

If we lose this like 45-44 there’s going to be a lot of gnashing of teeth about coaching. It’s not really clear to me what you expect a coach to do with a bunch of players that just miss shot after shot after shot.

Agree - Nothing to do with coaching. It’s all about talent and lack thereof.

High Jack a thread? Lmao. You literally will watch a football or basketball game and your take is completely opposite of the majority. Think you just have to be a contrarian

Second half is like to see:

1. Simpson creating.
2. If Paul is in, post him up. Use size advantage. Get him off the perimeter.
3. Reiber instead of Palquist. Better matchup.
4. Same defensive effort.

The ONE positive is Audige and Booie have done nothing, the scrubs are killing us.

I know it is not in him but.… I would love Pike to throw some trash cans in the locker room to light a fire under these guys. I do love him but the rah rah pat the guy on the back approach is just not working.

Don't take out 3 starts after six minutes and replace them with MAAC players
This^^^

If we get on a run, don't go by the predetermined clock to make substitutions. Roll with it, till it drys up. Points are at a premium, take them while you can in favor of rest.

I mean you gotta live w a freshman mistake if it happens but they need to take that trade now
Completely stagnant w Paul at helm
Paul is 0 for 4 leads team with 2 turnovers.

I’m not worried about any mistakes Simpson may make it’s not different that what others are already doing if he does.

NW hedging HARD on the high PnR and completely disrupting our offense. Time for Pike to come up with a new strategy.
He moved to a 1-4 offensive set the last few positions with no high ball screens. It helped get the offense started closer to the basket. Let’s see what happens next half

Yup. How can you possibly not see the difference. Plus the kid has balls.

Agreed I’m just saying don’t expect Simpson to be a Junior out of nowhere
Agreed Paul is having a tough go since owning MSU

We barely run any sets. I think people wouldnt complain as much if he regularly ran sets when in the half court. We dont really have any offensive identity. Like when you think of rutgers bball offense nothing comes to mind
I somewhat agree no offensive identity. I can do without sets, true motion offense, if there was ball movement. The issue is there is very little off ball screening, very little cutting, and way too much dribbling without a purpose.

The problem with the low 4 set, which is our primary set, is all of the motion is taking the player and their momentum away from the basket.

It’s a great set if you have 4 athletes that can create for themselves and at least 2 that can hit long range.
