I love NJ but it wasn't until I left and saw the world with the military and beyond that I realized how insular & close-minded NJ natives can be (it's very similar to New England) with being self-aware about it. It's pervasive in NJ politics, culture and sports attitudes. Many Rutgers fans subconsciously don't feel like this program deserves or will even be capable of consistent top 25 finished, so they take what they can get and conflate this with projected success.

Not from NJ, don’t live there now, didn’t grow up a Rutgers fan, so not sure I suffer from your proposed NJ syndrome, but I do see a guy who got us to the top 25 in multiple seasons, had us in bowl games nearly every year, built some pride in this program, and actually started pulling some big local talent is on the sideline now.

Not saying it’s going to happen again, but he deserves more than three years to work at it.

It’s a completely different situation now. His leaving for the NFL was the beginning of the downfall. I actually think he would make a good announcer.
