here is the deal, unless we go 13-7 in league, we all will be sweating it out, there are better scenerios where RU is more likely to get in but because of the way the resume stacks up we will be sweating it out

If we do get in at 18-14/19-14 rather than if we get in at 19-13, I see a first four appearance almost guaranteed

Two wins in the B1GT is a very tall order.

20 just looks so much better than 19 on paper.

It has that nice round figure to it.

I think we have to steal a road game.
If we finish 11-9 in league by winning out on only our home games, and then take two games in the tournament, we're in. That would be 2 important wins in games that are not at the RAC, which is somehwat like NCAA tournament conditions. Adding that to all the Quad 1 wins at home should get us in.

Two wins in the B1GT is a very tall order.
If the Tournament started today.

First round
Game 1: No. #13 Minnesota vs No. #12 Maryland
Game 2: No. #11 Penn State vs No. #14 Nebraska

Second round
Game 3: No. #8 Indiana vs No. #9 Iowa
Game 4: No. #5 Ohio State vs (Winner of Game 1)
Game 5: No. #7 Michigan vs No. #10 Northwestern
Game 6: No. #6 Rutgers vs (Winner of Game 2) ---------- I think this we take... even though we lost to both

Quarterfinals
Game 7: No. #1 Purdue vs (Winner of Game 3)
Game 8: No. #4 Purdue vs (Winner of Game 4)
Game 9: No. #2 Wisconsin vs (Winner of Game 5)
Game 10: No. #3 Illinois vs (Winner of game 6) ----------- No reason why we cant take this.... yes it will be hard but doable...

Semifinals
Game 11: (Winner of Game 7) vs (Winner of game 8)
Game 12: (Winner of game 9) vs (Winner of game 10)

Do they take into account, how you are playing recently, compared to beginning of the season?
I think they will if we are sitting in Bubble with few others.

its body of work, how you play down the stretch isnt a consideration...however if you are winning alot down the stretch its going to show on your resume

Controlling our own destiny, yea 13 B1G wins will do it. However, not necessary as we don’t exist in our own bubble - the “bubble” isn’t that strong this year and while in some scenarios it will take 13, in others it might only take 11 (and a top-half B1G standing). One game at a time and let the outside results happen and we’ll keep evaluating

why is it that in college football its "best 4 teams" but in college basketball Southwest liberty central from the Unknown conference gets a spot. Total joke.

The other factor is the amount of bids available. A lot depends on the mid-major tournaments. Say random team #1 wins the regular season and has a high NET, but loses in the conference tournament, does that league 'steal' a bid?
So, our record is no guarantee, no matter what it is.

why are all 4 road games looked at as losses?..only Purdue would be highly unlikely to pull off.. Wisconsin on the road is possible if we can shut down the 3 point line. A split with the win on the road would be more beneficial.. Michigan, on paper we should beat again, but somehow I see Howard bullying his way to some questionable calls at the end. Need to get off to big lead to win that one. Indiana we beat 3 times last year, so another win, even if on the road is very possible.. Illinois at home may top last night's crowd noise. key will be to get Kofi in early foul trouble (and not have him do the same to Cliff). Pau; & Geo's passes are the key here..BIg Ten Tournament is like a make up exam if we lose more than one at home and con't win on the road.. On the reverse side of the Spectrum, a Double bye in the BTT is still possible with tiebreakers over MSU & OSU..

Hope that will end all weak bubble talk forever. Providing last year didn’t when UCLA went to the Final Four after the classic play in game against MSU.

Need a road win. I also don’t see us beating Illinois… though possible, will be very tough

I talked about that earlier in @bac2therac ’s other bracketology thread…

It would have to help us if all the one bid and mid major conferences play out like they should without the upsets.

Do we really have to explain to you how great March Madness is?
yeah.. you love the one of two cinderellas who wins while a dozen or more lose in the first game.

has there ever been a cinderella story about a team that should not have gotten in had they not won some minor tourney?

Let us go back to the time when minor teams with great records HAD to win their tourneys instead of taking up at-large spots. That was "great March Madness" too.

What leagues do you consider "minor"? All those "minor" leagues do only get an auto bid. Plenty of A10 level leagues have had good runs by teams that haven't won their conference tournament.

Our outlook changes dramatically if we can win at Wisky on Saturday.
If we go into Madison and get a W, I seriously bet we end up on the Last 4 in or Last 4 bye in a lot of bracketologies next week. A lot can happen between now and Selection Sunday...still a month to go.
