Man the RAC sounded great on TV yesterday. Sims described it as a train pulling into the station. Ever since I moved to Florida, with my son taking over my season’s tickets, I get so pumped up watching the broadcasts of our home games. Nothing like it.

It’s always going to the RAC. Remember Louis Brown? The LBAC?
I don’t entirely understand naming rights. It seems silly once a name has already been established.

NEVER, EVER change one single thing about the structure of that building. I shudder to think what our record would be most years with the RAC. it is a special home court advantage.
I’ve been in arenas where I supposedly had good seats, and they always seem so far away from the court. The RAC has a verticality that makes it great for our fans and more imposing for our opponents. Now if they’d just build up section 118 we can turn the volume up to 11.

That’s it right there.

There is plenty that can be done to the RAC for the $300MM or so that it would cost to built a proper facility from scratch. Want it Downtown and it’s probably more.

I would imagine you could do wonders with $75MM and keep the absurd home court advantage we enjoy at the RAC. I’m sure the AD has a projected value they place on wins. The RAC has to be worth a handful.

But if you’re saying there might be an extra $75M lying around, @Arizona Knight….then yeah, let’s do something.

Well we know about $20mm or so with the JMA deal. So now it’s $55mm but that’s not lunch money for Rutgers, I get it. But we are about to get big bump in B1G money to the $45mm and soon to be $70mm annually. We also “sold out” the RAC a bunch of times and we used to get 2,500 people for games. That’s more $$$.

Up to Hobbs to make it happen. Football has to eat too so it’s not an easy job.

Football does have to eat but there is more inventory for the B1G and the BTN with MBB that has to help. If this progress keeps going and we’re getting the viewership who wouldn’t want to have a commercial broadcast at a RAC game.

Yesterday's game had great atmosphere. It was loud, the crowd was engaged and the student section was rocking (they had a symbiotic relationship with Paul). The team turned on the jets in the second half perhaps fueled a bit by the RAC crowd. That building needs to stay in place for another 40+ years.

“I would like our product to be marketed and shown during a home Rutgers MBB as I have heard those games at the RAC are kinda crazy. What does that cost? And if it’s a little extra as we’d probably pay a some more for that type of access.”

Hopefully this is the type of conversation that might happen in the media sales offices of the B1G in the not too distant future.

And that’s how the “Jersey Roar” can help make some extra coin for Athletics.

Just make the lobby bigger like some of the renderings and take care of Section 118 like @BillyC80 said and we should be good.

“The contract includes a opt-out option for Jersey Mike’s which can be executed in July 2029 if Rutgers does not “substantially renovate” the 8,000-seat trapezoidal arena or build a new one by July 1, 2028.”

The roof blew off after that Caleb steal lay-up/Sparty missed dunk/Reiber 3. Crowd was still into it/up from the big steal and then the 3 sent it into a frenzy. So much fun to be there when the team is playing well.

It was a madhouse. Not quite as loud as Purdue, which was one of the top 3 loudest games I've ever been to at the RAC (PSU '89 will always be #1, partly because I was in the middle of the student section), but it was rockin'. Being a huge RU hoops and football fan for so long is one main reason I couldn't ever imagine moving away from here - especially to Florida, which I just don't like (sis and dad live there, so I get to see it plenty).

You do know some of us move away from NJ for work and are hopefully ambassadors of the university remotely. Just recently retired moved to LBI and soon Hoboken. But professionally lived in southern tier NY, DC area, UK, Denver, Fort Worth. Everyone knew me as a loyal son of Rutgers.

I totally get it. My season tickets (30 years so far) delayed my move by about 3 years. Only saving grace is my son took over my seats. If I couldn’t have kept them in the family, moving would have been almost unthinkable.

That's different, as people need to do what they need to do to support their families - my assumption (perhaps wrong) was someone living in NJ and retiring to Florida or somewhere else far away from NJ, which would just be very difficult for me, given how much I love going to RU games.

I hope the RAC is rocking like that again on Wednesday when OSU rolls into town. And hopefully the team will be running on all cylinders again like they were on Saturday afternoon.

Hey, Billy! I didn't realize you had moved to Florida. We're now living in Tucson, AZ - been here since September 2017.
