Loser Posters: Re-evaluate

He would not be saying any player was "on the spectrum", or "sucks", would he? And if asked publicly about it, he'd say something constructively critical like "low energy level" or "poor rebounding". He most definitely wouldn't throw any particular player under a bus.

People are absolutely free to criticize the players in any way they wish. And people are free to criticize those who behave like children, utterly unable to control themselves and resist acting out on the forum. Which is what I'm doing.

The game thread, in the first half, reads like a kindergarten class full of budding juvenile delinquents. It deserves way more criticism than our players do for their poor first half performance.

Can I ask what is your goal? What are you trying to accomplish?

For the posters to publically apologize?
For who’s benefit? Certainly not the players who most likely don’t read the board.
Is it to feel morally superior to anonymous people on a message board? That’s a little sad.

But lucky for you, my feeling should mean nothing to you!!
Unfortunately, your feelings about the “game thread posters” most likely mean nothing to them as well.

Put it to you this way……we suck posts are one thing, personal attacks on players like Geo is probably drunk…………crossing the line
Did you think the poster was actually implying that Geo has a drinking problem? I understand not wanting personal attacks but the practical difference between "Geo looks lost out there" and "Geo must be drunk" is that the latter has some humor thrown in. Just seems like an odd one to use as an example.

Should I apologize for posting that Geo was a bricklayer today after shooting 4-14, 0-6 from 3 pt range?
If you don’t also acknowledge his 7 AST to 1 TO, two key blocks in 36 minutes, it makes it seem like you have an agenda. A fan of the team would want to give credit instead of just denigrating, no?

Of course not. Sorry but no one should get a few chuckles over drinking. Myself and others have lost friends/family to drunk drivers. Never had to say goodbye to someone “who looked lost” out there. Huge difference

My wife has really gotten into the mens BB team and looks forward to watching them. You should hear her comments when things are not going to plan!
At the half, we clicked around the TV and found "Lincoln Lawyer" on. So, we were watching the movie a lot more than the second half and were stunned to see what was happening when we ventured back.
This was a lot more enjoyable than the first half of the game by a long way and we plan on doing the same thing again if the next game follows the same pattern.

We are a fan base learning to deal with the stress of rooting for a team that now has the potential to reach the tourney every year - it’s a hell of a lot more stressful than following a perennially doormat or a blue blood who is a lock every year. It’s going to get ugly at times - but it’s actually because we are great fans who care way too much about this program than is good for own well being.

Ask Pikiell what he thought about his team at halftime
Yeah but he takes them on like a man. The message board stuff is creepy and immature. That’s just my opinion. I don’t get it and there is no need for it. I was punching my pillow and my dog was a little scared but I never feel the need to go on a message board to insult young kids. Really weird in my opinion.

I was frustrated and made zero whiny baby posts on an internet message board. It’s called being a man. Many of our posters are in their Mom’s basement screaming for meatloaf lol.

Congratulations!! You’re a man!!
(Is this the validation your looking for? Hopefully I can help.)

I made some mildly whiny posts but then went for a 4 mile run after the game wearing shorts in 15 degree weather.

Does that make me more of man then you?
Or are we equal men now?

Luckily, you don’t need to compelled to respond and figure it out.
I’m perfectly content if you still consider me not a man.
Don’t really care if anonymous internet message posters consider me a man or not.
It’s quite freeing once you realize social media isn’t real life.

I would argue that being physically violent in real life as a reaction to a sporting event is much more concerning than posting words online to a random community.

I don’t remember talking to you or questioning your comments Nick. The guy I was talking to called someone else a snowflake for calling out the REALLY bad comments and I was talking directly to him.

The length of your uninvited response to my post is kind of girly if we’re being honest here.

Totally agree. I didn’t really punch my pillow though I was just trying to show it’s okay to be frustrated. It’s not okay to publicly and verbally assault the players.

We should accept some fans will go overboard when posting their opinions when the team looks bad..
Just dson't be a butthead when poining out some posters emotional outburst when things looked bad

Those that let their emotions out when they post about the bad play they see, accept that your messages of doom and gloom will be pointed out if the tide turns RU's way
.Don't be so thin skinned and get upset about it, you [posted it for the world to see how you felt at the time and even if you became a happy camper at the end, you did post what was pointed out.

Personally I like the game threads even though I don't post in them. Seeing the same people who might call out others as "snowflakes" in other threads say they're "done" or "quit" from game to game or within a game based on bad play or a run by the other team is always good for a chuckle.

Good point. What I find ironic is our fans feel it is okay to trash the players and coaches but get all upset when people call them out for it. If this is truly just a bulletin board and we shouldn’t care about posters bashing players then it stands to reason that we shouldn’t care when fellow fans call us out.

Wasn't there a news article recently mocking the Rutgers message boards for demanding Pikiell be fired before the epic Purdue win? Embarrassing stuff. I don't understand why some of these posts attacking players and coaches aren't removed by the moderators. The kids on the team and their families should not be subjected to this garbage.

My question is why do some find it imperative to post play by play on the message board? I love the after game reports and the comments both good and bad. The breakdown of what people themselves see in the game and their personal reviews. Sometimes players get called out and in this era of NIL it becomes more acceptable to some degree. Life is all about great days of praise and days where you just wish to hide as far away as possible.Does anyone actually believe players care ? If they are playing D-1 in the B1G they better understand fans can at times be very critical.

Seriously? You know your from Cali For Ni A … These players have been coddled way before…then some rejection and criticism helps give balance as they traverse the world of disappointment. They get it… problem is some fans just never will.

Somebody took it personally
Well I think the fan base can be pretty soft at times.

Any time I point out a player not being good enough for this level I get responded with "how dare you knock a kid choosing to play for RU".

My comments yesterday were awful and uncalled for.

But when I said stuff in the past like "Doucoure doesn't belong in division 1" or "vedral is one of the worst passers in the country" I always get the response that I outlined before.

Was I wrong yesterday? Yes. But sometimes ppl need to take off the scarlet colored glasses

When watching a game with people, do you all sit in silence?
Don't comment on the game until it's over?

Game threads (started by mods) are encouraging the same atmosphere of watching a game altogether.

Wouldn’t it be ironic if Pike’s halftime speech consisted of him reading our message board complaints out loud to the team, which motivated the guys to kick *** in the second half?

Nope, he only has loyalty when there's a win

So?
Does being a "loyal fan" in the eyes of anonymous people online bring some sort of joy or meaning to your life?

That's a slippery slope to go down.

There are jokes and there are insensitive jokes. Some of the best comedians work “clean” Saying a player is “on the spectrum”. My sister in law has autism. I also teach Special Education. Sorry don’t find it funny at all. Finding humor in someone being drunk….again not funny at all. You have no idea who I am. Trust me I will laugh at many jokes and love many comedians. Regarding “being allowed” to say. Pretty easy. Say what you want just be prepared for some to appreciate it and others not so much.

Some fans are critical of everything they don’t like. There’s people who complain about the food, the bathrooms, the uniforms, players shoes, the refs, the parking, the band. Some people to me seem like they are just pissed at the world.
You nailed it and you wouldn't want those "macho" men who act like only wins matter, to
be at your side in times of trouble --- "good time charlie's" fir sure

Times of trouble?

If Pike calls me up and asks if I can give him 5 minutes and 6 fouls - I promise I'll be enthusiastic and do my part.

You do realize zero that happens on www.rutgers.forums.rivals.com has any effect on the actual team.
Did the "Fire Pike" threads actually get him fired? Maybe I missed it.

Let's run a test: Pike is the worst coach in Rutgers history. Jordan coached circles around Pike.

Shhh...listen....nothing happened or changed in your life or with the actual team.

I mean if we're just talking about what you like or dislike then sure, you are free to feel however. But the drunk thing is not something that the vast majority of people would find offensive. And saying something "crosses the line", which you said about the drunk post, is a significantly different statement than saying "I don't personally like this joke".

Like I've said ,if you want RU to succeed , support them in good times and especially bad times-- try sending in a check after a loss or some other difficulty--if some of the complainers actually ever send anything
