A 19 dog victory for one of the great (greatest) athletes of our generation bringing home his 11th title. He blew away the field in brutal conditions.

Is there any modern day athlete that can even compare to him? I can’t thjnk of any.

Funny. They don’t even know the actual totals yet. Just said he did 74 when the count was 64. Unique event.

He was eating at an unbelievable pace. Truly a pleasure to watch such high level of execution.

And who doesn’t love the announcer guy. One of the best in all of sports.

About 6 years ago I worked downtown and would eat lunch in the city hall park from time to time. On July 3rd they did a little promo in the park, hosted by Mayor Bloomberg, and all the competitors.

An uncomfortable Bloomberg was reading a pun laden speech for the cameras and suddenly he just added in “who writes this ****?” Beyond funny and appropriate for bloomberg who is a nut about healthy food.

maybe numbers can sneak a story in about his home run and being an athlete sorta like the dog eaters...

My son and his friends went to Coney Island to see the competition today (among other things) - he said it was just nuts watching these people mashing hot dogs into their mouths.

Its being reported everywhere as 74. Where are you getting 64?
I actually watched it live. They had 64 in the running totals at the end. After the event when he was being interviewed, he said he did 74. Melanie Collins was interviewing him and she said they had to go to video to verify. Usually the totals are lower when it's hot and humid like today. Sounds like they verified it pretty quickly after the event.

I just watched the replay. Also every news outlet is saying he did 74. It's been verified as a record. Im not sure where you are getting that number when they Guiness World Book of Record people are on hand.

Invite him to a tailgate. How many pork roll, eggs and cheese?
The answer to how many Taylor ham, eggs and cheese is zero as there is no such thing as Taylor ham

I know the guys who run this competitive eating organization. Hysterically funny guys, especially George, the announcer. Surprised he doesn't get other announcing work, the guy just kills it every time out.

They all force themselves to throw up immediately after the event. No way anyone wants to digest 74 hot dogs. Train their stomachs to hold the capacity by pouring gallons of water into it, regularly and then throw that up.

How are they off 10 dogs in the count during the competition? I know he does 2 at a time followed by the water soaked rolls but they need to do better than that. I caught the last 4 minutes and I did not consider it a "pleasure" to watch.

All I can say is during the live telecast, it was 64. Superfan indicates that as well. I guess they edited the replays.

The guy is certainly a competitor. Can he cover a receiver? What’s his 40 time?

I was coerced after some beers into entering one of these at the beach in Florida a few years ago. Very informal type thing they do during the 4th of July celebration annually on the beach, with the winner getting like a gift certificate to a local restaurant/bar.

Got through 9 in the hot Southwest Florida heat, sun and humidity. Immediately went and puked in the sea oats near the sand. Not my proudest moment! Wife wasn't too impressed either.

Glad this thread is back! Good job chestnut ! I always say the dog and bun need to be eaten together in this competition. Hopefully; they change the rules one day
