We need to find a way to get as many youth and high school players, parents, and coaches in there as possible. These are our future players, students, and ticket buyers.
Who is going to drive there on a Thursday night without being sure they will get in??

Yep. Now let's do whatever needs to be done in order for more of us to be able to see those big, fast, black football players we love. On Saturdays at least.

See them...but if they hold an opinion on something different than certain posters, they ought not to share it, in the view of those posters.

I recall the criticisms of prior presidents. Apparently you do not. Without proof, either of our viewpoints are assumptions.

I think people had some valid criticisms of Barchi and McCormick, much like it'd be one thing to criticize Holloway's policies.

But the same people instantly have to make it about his skin color...right away. It's pretty funny how I don't see anyone criticizing the capacity while saying the race comment detracts from the argument- which it does.

The people saying Holloway was hired for his race are just like the people who said Barchi and McCormick were racist for not focusing on restocking chalk in Newark. The extremes on both sides have everything in common and that includes eschewing facts and reason in order to be juvenile, troll, and politicize everything.

with a straight face, do you think race played no part in his hire? Also, 2 of those other hires were political hires which are equally as egregious.

it should be best man for the job

It never occurred to me that race was part of the hire, why would it? Haven’t you seen or heard about his resume and track record. He was and is supremely qualified. He has had leadership positions at universities with far superior academics than Rutgers. What more was he supposed to accomplish before it is no longer considered a race hire?

Whitebus, if we go to 30 percent, 16,000 , that would be toward the high end of what we get when the Spring Game is on Rutgers Day and a Saturday. We have hit 20,000 before, but I don’t see Holloway opening it up that much even though by Murphy we can go to 26,000.

agree

The thing with the spring game is it's a good PR opportunity, drives sales, drives revenue, press etc etc.. GS learned that lesson that hard way so he knows, it should be an event for the RU base and fringe people

‘Bingo.
Drive awareness of the Rutgers Football brand in New Jersey.
Which drives interest and attracts new fans = new season ticketholders.
Which brings in more $$ revenue to Rutgers Athletics and decreases subsidies needed from the University.
Hopefully this is not rocket science for the RU Administration.

I agree but my point is its not on a Saturday. Week night.

Mccormick was definitely criticized as a privileged hire

No he wasn’t. He was already a university president at a large state school, a former vice chancellor, a former Rutgers dean and the son of a beloved professor and namesake of my freshman dorm. He grew up at Rutgers. His return was almost universally met with excitement at the return of a loyal son.

That's the hire we needed. Someone who from another university who already ran the show.

Rutgers shouldn't be the next rung.

For real. Thought he was an amazing hire - with the bonus that he played D1 football.

Yea I remember that. The narrative was that he only got the role because of who his dad was. It was pathetic given his credentials.

Wish we had someone with those now.

And nobody ever questioned whether those white Presidents, especially those who maybe didn't do so well at the job, were given that job because of race.
I did and so did many here on the Barchi hire. He was here to do the merger and somehow as a political favor was promoted to President. Many here hated the hire and thought he was unqualified coming from Thomas Jefferson University.

I’m not new to Rutgers nor the Rutgers community.

Fortunately, this board and your views are a reflection of a very small minority of Americans and even smaller minority of the Rutgers community.
lol, now you are truly showing your ignorance

absolutely, he was panned as a political hire, an appeasement nod. At least he had a resume to back the hire

what was the candidate pool? Funny how that never comes up

You are kidding yourself if you think race, gender, sexual orientation, etc does NOT come up in these type hires. It ALWAYS and we can't move forward unless it stops. I'd bet few here ever really managed or ran something of import within a large org with broad reach. I'd wager a ton actually given the naivety on display.

Of course it was a consideration. Especially now. Look how the AD hire went before Hobbs. Anyone who thinks otherwise is living in an alternate universe.

This is true . But we have had our share of lousy white presidents : Lawrence , McCormick and barchi . Just blind odds Holloway is gonna be better than at least 1 of them .

Join the group who don't get the point. Yes, some questioned the Barchi hire, especially sports fans with legitimate concerns about whether he'd care at all about sports, given his primary goal of overseeing the merger. But nobody said he was primarily hired because of his race, which people have said about Holloway since day one, despite his impressive qualifications.

Lawrence was a joke. Barchi was brought in for a very specific expertise. The merger. Everything else was ancillary.

McCormick had impeccable credentials. Say what you want about his work at RU but no one can question why he was hired. He had already earned that level.

I believe most of us said it about Julie. That was gender based not race, but still probably stuck in the craw of you woke. I know I was quite vocal in the way Sweeney treated Sean Frazier.

Why didn't he finish his 5 year commitment at Yale? He wasn't even the true Dean there. Yale did not give him oversight of the acadamic portion.

Someone will have higher position at rutgers and lower position at Yale . That’s the pecking order in academia.

Let’s put this into perspective as to how ridiculous it is to only have 5000.

Nebraska is hosting Rutgers this weekend in baseball. They are expecting up to 6000 fans for a baseball game and that’s more than we can have for our spring football game in a stadium with a capacity of 53,000.

No fans with the exception of parents are allowed at Rutgers baseball games!

How do you figure ? College president is not going to be judged by attendance at a spring football game
Colleges in NJ are having graduations in person. They are spreading them out in a logistical manner to abide by current rules. Holloway and his team of so called smart people couldn't figure it out but others could? Great leadership there. Seems his only mandate has been hide under your bed till you're vaccinated. What has he done so far that has astonished you? Hold the rest of the B1G hostage to have no fans in the stands otherwise he was going to vote NO and cancel having a season? Did Rutgers one of the most diverse Universities in the US really need a VP of Equity? What was the purpose of that to waste more money?

Who cares? I'm expressing my own opinion, not live action role playing as a fan of a "big time program".
Your free to do so but when you try to box in

You're free to do so of course but when you try to put Rutgers fans in your " whiney" box it doesn't hurt to suggest we're far from unique in our reaction to the situation. In fact I'd say the few who say " who cares" or its just a scrimmage are the whiney ones because there bitching about a subject they don't care about.

We really going to judge a college president by football attendance ?
